Professor Watchlist

James McGhee is the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Associate Dean of Students at Randolph-Macon College. McGhee is also listed as the Co-Chair of the Bias Response Team. The team’s mission is to “develop the mind and character of students by upholding the College’s core values, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, and pursuing justice and equity in our policies and practices.”

The Professor Watchlist received a tip that Randolph-Macon was holding a student-led drag show in the Blackwell Auditorium at 8 pm on April 19. A college representative deferred to McGhee for more information about the event. 

The Watchlist team reached out to McGhee on February 2, 2024, to confirm which student club was hosting the event, as well as the faculty sponsors. In the same communication, our team referenced the following Twitter posts and inquired if McGhee discriminated against students of his or staff based on their Constitutionally-protected political views.

As of publication, no response was received from McGhee’s office, and his Twitter account has been deleted.
