Ilyse R. Morgenstein Fuerst

University of Vermont

Ilyse R. Morgenstein Fuerst is a professor of Islamic Studies and the Associate Director of the Humanities Center at the University of Vermont.

She recently tweeted that “white Christian nationalism” was the cause of George Floyd’s murder and that it was “inextricable” from racism.

Fuerst also expresses her opposition to Zionism and Israel on her Twitter account. After the Pittsburgh Synagogue Massacre in which 11 congregants were gunned down, she expressed doubt at the authenticity of the relief pouring in from around the country, calling it “late.” After then subtly attacking Zionism, she then declared that the shooting was a result of “white Christian nationalism”
