Timothy Schorn
University of South Dakota
Dr. Timothy Schorn is a Director of International Studies and Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of South Dakota. His research and teaching interests include International Human Rights and Middle Eastern Politics. Dr. Schorn has been published in several research journals, such as Marine Corps Journal and Journal of Politics.
Dr. Schorn is openly pro-critical race theory in both the media and in his personal life. In an article for South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Dr. Schorn vehemently supports critical race theory in the classroom. According to Dr. Schorn, “you have to look at the institutionalization of slavery; you look at the laws and policies on voting requirements and moves to restrict voting access; you look at mandatory sentencing and which classes of people that affects the most — certainly poor, generally minority communities are affected more than the white middle class.”
Dr. Schorn goes on to say that he educates his students about critical race theory in all of his classrooms. He also states that critical race theory teaches that we created a legal system in the United States that is inherently racist, as it affects minorities more negatively than white Americans. Dr. Schorn also accuses America of being racist against minorities because of voting requirements and voting access restrictions.
When Dr. Schorn isn’t discussing his approval of critical race theory in the media, he can be found tweeting about it on his personal Twitter page. Not only does he tweet his love of critical race theory, but he also shares an anti-conservative rhetoric, calling conservatives snowflakes and stupid. Some examples of his tweets can be found below:
A great thread to follow. In an attempt to end discussion of diversity and protect the snowflake feelings of conservative whites, the SD Board of Regents closed centers of diversity & created “opportunity” centers to better ignore the more vulnerable & underserved communities. https://t.co/f1obAQwMNG

Given the idiocy, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to teach Critical Race Theory in all of my classes—as an academic theory—so my students will understand what CRT is and how academic theories work. Call me crazy, but I’m pretty sure that’s my job.

There’s no one dumber than a Republican candidate for governor. Just check out Nebraska and Missouri, and probably elsewhere. Trying to out-Trump each other, don’t care how many die from COVID, and love race-baiting on CRT. Rampant stupidity.

Scared white people afraid of reality & change—folks who would change election laws to stay in power. You know, Republicans & racists. Just look at Pierre and the anti-diversity campaign from @govkristinoem, legislature, & Regents.
