<a href="https://gsrosenthal.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gregory Samantha Rosenthal</a> is an Associate Professor of History, Coordinator of the Public History Concentration, and Co-Coordinator of the Gender and Women’s Studies Concentration at <a href="https://www.roanoke.edu/profiles/rosenthal_samantha" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Roanoke College</a>. According to his website, from 2024–2026 he will also be a Visiting Associate Professor of American History at Washington &amp; Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. 
Rosenthal, a “biological male,” uses feminine pronouns. In his book “<a href="https://muse.jhu.edu/article/766656" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How to Become a Woman</a>,” he even refers to himself as a “transgender dyke.” 
Rosenthal is an advocate for transgender rights. One of his major focuses of activism — and an academic focus as well — is the LGBTQ community and its history in Roanoke, Virginia. In his book “<a href="https://gsrosenthal.com/living-queer-history/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Living Queer History</a>,” Rosenthal writes:
“Roanoke is a prime example of a small city that has attracted queer and trans folks from the countryside, yet the city’s distinctive racial geographies mean that any space here for queer people has only been welcoming to some but not others. Roanoke’s queer map reveals disparate spaces of belonging among white folks versus Black folks, men versus women, cisgender versus trans folks. Queer fiefdoms, indeed.”
The book description reads:
“Queer history is a living practice. Talk to any group of LGBTQ people today, and they will not agree on what story should be told. Many people desire to celebrate the past by erecting plaques and painting rainbow crosswalks, but queer and trans people in the twenty-first century need more than just symbols—they need access to power, justice for marginalized people, spaces of belonging. Approaching the past through a lens of queer and trans survival and world-building transforms history itself into a tool for imagining and realizing a better future.”
In the introductory chapter of the book, Rosenthal addresses what led him and like-minded community members to become Roanoke-centered advocates for the LGBTQ community:
 “When Donald Trump was running for president in 2016, a community member came up with the slogan for our project: Make Roanoke Queer Again. This is the story of how we have attempted to do just that: the work of queering a city in a region known more for its Confederate monuments and socially conservative Bible thumping than for its LGBTQ heritage.”
In an <a href="https://gsrosenthal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/make-ronoke-queer-again-tph.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> titled, “Make Roanoke Queer Again Community History and Urban Change in a Southern City,” Rosenthal writes on the history of Roanoke and its relation to the LGBTQ community. The abstract for the article states the following of Roanoke’s history: 

“This essay explores intersections among urban history, queer history, and public history in a gentrifying southern city. I show how queer cultures flourished in Roanoke, Virginia, in the 1960s and 1970s only to be displaced by a combination of police repression, urban planning, and gentrification starting in the late 1970s and 1980s … This essay argues that queer community history projects can be a form of resistance to gentrification and a means to preserve our history from ’queer erasure.’”
Rosenthal claims the “#MakeRoanokeQueerAgain” bar crawls that he and his associates go on will help change the overall sexual preference of cities, especially that of Roanoke:
“Our #MakeRoanokeQueerAgain bar crawl is just one example of how community history projects can make cities queer again by renaming and reclaiming urban space, thereby resisting a gentrification that threatens to erase the queer past …  I want Roanoke to become just a little bit more queer.”

<a href="https://my.wlu.edu/directory/profile?ID=x259" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Jim Casey</a> is a Professor of Economics at <a href="https://www.wlu.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington and Lee University</a> in Lexington, Virginia. Prone to incendiary remarks, Dr. Casey tweets racially derogatory insults that castigate white people and conservatives.

In one tweet from August 2019, Dr. Casey bluntly remarks how there is something “fundamentally wrong with white people.”

The comment is directed at Confederate General Robert E. Lee, who served as Washington and Lee’s President after the cessation of the Civil War. For years, protestors have <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/washington-and-lee-university-may-scrap-its-name-next-month-after-years-of-protest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded the removal of Lee from the university’s name and denounced the General for his connections to slavery.</a>

Dr. Casey was among 100 other professors at the university <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20200708003710/https://richmond.com/news/washington-and-lee-faculty-vote-to-change-the-universitys-name/article_c5141929-035b-598b-b2a5-2e29da73aa48.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who called for the removal of Lee from the university name in the summer of 2020</a>. The faculty voted by a margin of 79-21% for the removal of Lee's name. In a subsequent interview, he admits that many faculty voted out of concern that they would “end up on the wrong side” of history.

“We feel like we’re going to end up on the wrong side of this as an institution and that it will harm us...Everyone who was in that conversation feels that the best thing for our institution is to drop our affiliation with Lee.”

The board of Trustees would later vote 22-6 to keep the name while committing $225 million as part of a “strategic plan” to achieve racial equity.

<a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/college/people/tara-affolter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tara Affolter</a> is an Associate Professor of Education Studies and the Faculty Director of Equity, Justice &amp; Inclusion at Middlebury College. According to her university profile, Affolter “has over 15 years of experience teaching high school English and theatre while working for racial and social justice within the public schools…” She also serves in Middlebury’s Academic Affairs, “Black Studies,” and Education Studies departments.
In the Fall of 2022, she taught a course titled “Teaching the 1619 Project” with the following description:
“In this course, we will explore various ways to approach teaching The 1619 Project and examine how the project pushes against miseducation within the U.S. education systems. We will also delve into various states’ bans against teaching the 1619 Project and scrutinize how CRT became wrapped in these bans.”

Affolter also partnered with Middlebury’s Student Government Association to lead a <a href="https://www.middleburycampus.com/article/2023/01/panel-discusses-implications-of-supreme-court-decision-on-affirmative-action-for-college-community" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research panel</a> to answer the question, “What would ending affirmative action mean for Middlebury.” Affolter is quoted saying that “student body diversity promotes cross-racial understanding and reduces prejudice, overall leading to more positive interethnic attitudes by the end of college.”

<a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/college/people/william-nash" target="_blank" rel="noopener">William Nash</a> is a Professor of American Studies and English at Middlebury College in Vermont. Nash’s faculty biography states that his current research “focuses on historical and contemporary representations of abolitionism and enslavement.” 

His university profile contains a list of courses and descriptions include but are not limited to:
<ul>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Black Freedom Struggles—This course explores racial tensions of the present moment and situates them in the historical context of the ongoing struggles of black freedom. Topics discussed may include black reparations, abolitionism, mass incarceration, the Black Lives Matter movement and the Civil Rights Movement.”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Livin’ for the City—In this course, we will engage the idea of the ‘ghetto’ as constructed through literature, film, music and television…consider its impact on urban African American space…”</li>
</ul>
Nash is <a href="https://antiracism.middcreate.net/people/anti-racist-taskforce/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">listed</a> as a member of <a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/announcements/news/2022/05/working-become-anti-racist-institution" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Middlebury’s Anti-Racist Taskforce.</a> The taskforce <a href="https://midd.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=1b712b2d-9166-4e7d-9d5a-ad57013956f0&amp;start=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduction video</a> describes racism as “an explicit and highly sophisticated piece of technology.”

In August 2023, Nash <a href="https://www.wfae.org/arts-culture/2023-08-30/with-goodbye-mary-molly-tuttle-extends-country-musics-lineage-of-reproductive-rights-songs-to-the-post-roe-era" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published an opinion editorial</a> titled, “With ‘Goodbye Mary,’ Molly Tuttle extends country music’s lineage of reproductive rights songs to the post-Roe era.” Nash writes:
“Jason Aldean’s song ‘Try That in a Small Town’ extols small towns as bastions of conservative values standing up against a litany of violent big-city bogeyman…As an American Studies professor who teaches courses on country music, I am interested in the genre’s competing ‘liberal’ lineage.”
He continued:
“Perhaps the most striking of the new ‘abortion songs’ comes from acoustic guitar wizard Molly Tuttle…With ‘Goodbye Mary’...Tuttle creates an intimate portrait of a woman’s struggle for bodily autonomy that captures the potential terrors of a post-Roe America.”
The <a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/college/people/william-nash" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description</a> of Nash’s “Cultural Work Country Music” course says, “Arguably, aversion to American country music often tracks with class- and race-based assumptions about makers and consumers of this genre…”

<a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/college/people/james-sanchez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">James Sanchez</a> is an Assistant Professor of Writing &amp; Rhetoric at Middlebury College. His research interests include “cultural and racial rhetorics, public memory and writing assessment.”

Sanchez teaches a course titled “Documentaries, Social Justice” and another course titled “Race, Rhetoric, and Protest.” The latter is described as a “study [of] the theoretical and rhetorical underpinnings of racial protest in America…from bus boycotts to Black Power protests…”

He writes in the introduction:
“The ‘purity in Grand Saline is within the race of its people, or rather, the whiteness of the town. I define the term whiteness here as ‘a socially constructed category that is normalized within a system of privilege so that it is taken for granted by those who benefit from it…’”
Later in the book he states:
“The town preserves its white culture not out of necessity for life but out of fear of a white cultural death, an unfounded fear that has existed within white communities for centuries.”

Sanchez is also a member of Middlebury’s “<a href="https://antiracism.middcreate.net/about-the-website/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racism Taskforce</a>.” In a Middlebury article titled <a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/announcements/news/2022/05/working-become-anti-racist-institution" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Working to Become an Anti-Racist Institution</a>, it is stated that the group was “created to develop a process to transform our community into one that is attentive to racism, addresses its destructive force, and creates the conditions to have courageous conversations.”

<a href="https://www.middlebury.edu/midddata/caitlin-myers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Caitlin Myers</a> is the John G. McCullough Professor of Economics at Middlebury College. According to her profile, she teaches statistics, regression analysis, and causal inference.

<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/unplanned-parenthood-professors-research-maps-out-post-roe-abortion-travel-destinations/23676" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> featured Myers in an article titled “‘Unplanned Parenthood’ professor’s research maps out post-Roe abortion travel destinations.” The following map was included to show Myers’ cartography results.

According to Campus Reform, “[Myers] created the ‘Myers Abortion Facility Database,’ which displays how legal changes to abortion access affect the abortion rate, birth rate, and changes the number of available abortion centers.”

The source said Myers’ project, which launched in 2021, included data from clinics that performed abortions from 2009 through 2023.

Myers is also outspoken about her support for abortion on social media:

<a href="https://www.middleburycampus.com/article/2023/10/professor-of-economics-caitlin-myers-maps-abortion-access-across-the-u-s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Middlebury Campus</a> newspaper published an article praising Myers for her work on the abortion map. The source wrote, “When Myers is not teaching regression analysis or statistics … she engages with these issues in real-world contexts, gaining extensive experience as an expert witness and consultant for Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights … Myers’ abortion access dashboard has given her a platform to publish data that visually illustrates the causal effects of limiting access to reproductive care in the United States.”

<a href="https://scholarship.miami.edu/esploro/profile/dairon_garcia/overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor Dairon Garcia</a> is an assistant professor of clinical radiology at the University of Miami. On November 1, Garcia was charged with trafficking the date-rape drug Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).GHB (a colorless liquid typically mixed with drinks) is a substance dubbed “liquid ecstasy,” and “Coma in a bottle.” 
According to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/11/03/us-news/medical-school-professor-nabbed-peddling-date-rape-drug-cops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>, a package from Paris, France, containing GHB and addressed to an apartment property owned by Garcia, was intercepted by U.S. customs officers at Miami International Airport on August 29. After the Department of Homeland Security received a tip about the package, Miami police monitored the address. Eventually, a woman retrieved the package from the doorstep, prompting officers to raid the property:
“After cops raided the home, the woman’s daughter told them that the landlord, Garcia, had called to say that a package for him would be delivered there and ‘to please received [sic] that package.’” 
In addition to this, GHB was also delivered to two other properties owned by Garcia. 
According to the New York Post, after his arrest, Garcia pleaded not guilty during his arraignment and was held on $15,000 bail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He posted the bail and was released that night.
Miami Dade County Judge Mindy Glazer directed the following statement towards Garcia and his actions: 
“He&#8217;s a medical doctor, going through all those years of education and committing his life to helping people and to get arrested for this &#8211; that&#8217;s between you, your lawyer and the criminal justice system. Good luck to you, sir.”
This profile will be updated in accordance with Garcia’s legal status. At the time of this publication, Garcia is still employed by the University of Miami. The university has yet to comment on his situation as well.

<a href="https://search.vanderbilthealth.com/doctors/taylor-shayne" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Shayne Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Medicine</a> at Vanderbilt University. In a lecture, Dr. Taylor touted gender-transition surgeries for minors as “huge money makers” for hospitals.
The controversy erupted when conservative commentator Matt Walsh <a href="https://twitter.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1572313369528635392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1572313523232931840%7Ctwgr%5E322297c8a90cb2b0f8613236498945ff6838e036%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fhuge-money-maker-video-reveals-vanderbilts-shocking-gender-care-threats-against-dissenting-doctors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted a series of tweets on Vanderbilt Health,</a> a hospital network affiliated with Vanderbilt University. In the thread, Walsh revealed the hospital was conducting gender transitions on minors via surgery and chemical transitions.

Via the “<a href="https://www.childrenshospitalvanderbilt.org/program/pediatric-transgender-clinic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pediatric Transgender Clinic</a>,” the hospital advertises what it describes as “gender-affirming” procedures for “gender-diverse children and adolescents.” This includes elective “bottom” and “top” surgeries and hormone therapy.
During the clinic’s first year of operation, Dr. Shayne Taylor delivered a lecture boasting of the profit from gender-transition procedures. Listing off various surgeries and hormone treatments, Dr. Taylor revealed that each one is a “huge money maker” for hospitals and could provide tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in income before any of the necessary “follow-ups” by patients.

A common drug used to block puberty is called Lupron, which was <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/hormone-treatments-gender-dysphoric-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">designed to castrate sex offenders and is not approved by the FDA</a>. Even if the dosage is <a href="https://www.commonsense.news/p/top-trans-doctors-blow-the-whistle?s=r" target="_blank" rel="noopener">halted mid-transition, children are still unable to undergo puberty.</a>
In her speech, Dr. Taylor referenced “top” and “bottom surgeries” performed by doctors at the clinic. This refers to double-mastectomies—of the surgical removal of both breasts—of young girls (top surgeries) and the physical removal and replacement of genitalia (bottom surgery). Hormone therapy is also cited, referring to drugs used in the transition process.
Vanderbilt has admitted that teenagers as young as 13 receive hormone treatment and puberty blockers at the clinic.

While the clinic claims that all minors must receive parental consent, the hospital appears<a href="https://thefederalist.com/2022/07/11/vanderbilt-health-is-treating-tennessee-minors-without-parental-consent/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> to have adopted a “mature minor”</a> policy, which <a href="https://www.newsmax.com/FastFeatures/mature-minor-doctrine-examples/2015/07/10/id/654374/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allows teenagers to undergo a procedure if they are deemed “mature” or competent by a hospital or attending physician</a>.
Prior to Walsh’s expose, the <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2022/07/11/vanderbilt-health-is-treating-tennessee-minors-without-parental-consent/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hospital allegedly deleted all mention of surgeries from its “Treatments and Services” section</a>.

<a href="https://www.vanderbilt.edu/mhs/person/jonathan-m-metzl/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Jonathan M. Metzl</a> is a Professor of Psychiatry, and Frederick B. Rentschler II Professor of Medicine, Health, and Society at <a href="https://www.vanderbilt.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vanderbilt University</a> in Nashville, Tennessee. He additionally serves as the Director of the University’s Department of Medicine, Health, and Society.

Dr. Metzl frequently writes about the intersection of race, class, and health with public policy. His main body of work is centered on his thesis that whites reject sound policy purely out of racial spite. He alleges that much of the dysfunction in conservative states is due to the adoption or rejection or policy based upon racial resentment.

His latest book—titled, “<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/its-time-to-talk-about-being-white-in-america/2019/04/29/20aed83a-6a9b-11e9-be3a-33217240a539_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland</a>”— alleges that much of what animated conservatives from the Tea-Party was the election of a black President—Barack Obama—in a move he describes as a, “white backlash.” He further states this was codified with the election of Donald Trump - of whom Dr. Metzl <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/its-time-to-talk-about-being-white-in-america/2019/04/29/20aed83a-6a9b-11e9-be3a-33217240a539_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">describes as a skilled manipulator of “whiteness.”</a>

In an interview with the publication, VOX, Dr. Metzl alleges that <a href="https://www.vox.com/2019/3/19/18236247/dying-of-whiteness-trump-politics-jonathan-metzl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">white anxiety to minorities causes them to reject policies to the detriment of their own health</a>. He specifically cites opposition to Obamacare, alleging that this cost GOP voters literal weeks off their lifespan. When asked why white voters do not align with their economic counterparts in the minority community, Dr. Metzl responded that whites feel a “psychological benefit” and sense of prestige for obtaining whiteness, or privilege over minorities.

Another policy cited in the book <a href="https://www.vox.com/2019/3/19/18236247/dying-of-whiteness-trump-politics-jonathan-metzl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">is opposition to gun control or support of the second amendment.</a> Dr. Metzl alleges that there is a <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2013/05/08/us/study-gun-homicide/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passage of gun control legislation and a decrease in crime</a> serve as a direct correlation between an easing of gun restrictions in conservative states and a sharp increase in gun deaths.

At the time of the book's publication in 2019, <a href="https://www.heritage.org/crime-and-justice/commentary/here-are-8-stubborn-facts-gun-violence-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">America was in the midst of a multi-decade reduction of gun violence</a>. Suicide by gun violence had been cut in half over the past 2 decades. University of Chicago economist John Lott's landmark study of gun crime—titled, “More Guns, Less Crime,”—further demonstrated there is no link between the two.

Dr. Metzl had previously written about gun owenership’s connection to “whiteness.” In one op-ed for MSNBC, <a href="https://www.jonathanmetzl.com/when-shootings-happen-gender-has-to-be-part-of-the-conversation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Metzl wrote there is a correlation between the “male gender, hegemonic whiteness, and gun violence</a>.” In the same paper, he alludes that males are responsible for mass shootings, stating that, “nearly every shooter over the past 30 years has been male.”

He further alleges that males feel “entitled” to relationships, financial success, social status, and other items as part of American culture. He believes that their failure to obtain these things leads to men lashing out and committing violent crimes. Dr. Metzl urges others to look at the link between gender and mass shootings, positing a link between “entitled masculinity” and gun-ownership.

In a separate interview for, “Dying of Whiteness” for The Guardian, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/08/racism-gun-control-dying-of-whiteness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Metzl states that American Gun culture is “entwined” with white privilege</a>. He repeats this allegation for Salon, <a href="https://www.salon.com/2019/04/30/jonathan-metzl-on-the-moment-white-nationalists-invaded-his-d-c-bookstore-discussion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating that supporting the second amendment is akin to being “white”</a>:

She warned that any doctors adhering to their religious beliefs will face “consequences” for not performing the surgeries. In her speech, Dr. Taylor referenced “top” and “bottom surgeries” performed by doctors at the clinic. This refers to double-mastectomies—or the surgical removal of both breasts—of young girls (top surgeries) and the physical removal and replacement of genitalia (bottom surgery). Hormone therapy is also cited, referring to drugs used in the transition process.

A common drug used to block puberty is called Lupron, which was <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/hormone-treatments-gender-dysphoric-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">designed to castrate sex offenders and is not approved by the FDA</a>. Even if the dosage is <a href="https://www.commonsense.news/p/top-trans-doctors-blow-the-whistle?s=r" target="_blank" rel="noopener">halted mid-transition, children are still unable to undergo puberty.</a>

Vanderbilt has admitted that teenagers as young as 13 receive hormone treatment and puberty blockers at the clinic.

<a href="https://www.vumc.org/pmi-residents/person/ayesha-khan-phd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ayesha Khan</a> is a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. 

In 2019, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Movement-Pakistan-Activism-Democracy/dp/1838607080/ref=sr_1_1?crid=PPFKEJJP16RI&amp;keywords=the+women%27s+movement+in+pakistan%3A+activism%2C+islam+and+democracy&amp;qid=1698959598&amp;sprefix=the+women%27s+movement+in+pakistan+activism%2C+islam+and+democracy%2Caps%2C116&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Khan wrote</a>, “The Women’s Movement in Pakistan: Activism, Islam and Democracy” in which the publisher claims she “argues that the demand for a secular state and resistance to Islamization should not be misunderstood as Pakistani women sympathizing with a Western agenda.” 

In the introduction, Khan states:
“Feminists are put on the defensive for their failure to achieve a wider and deeper base, to build a movement for social change with ‘grassroots’ authenticity. They are accused of dependency on [W]estern aid funding to run their projects and NGOs, thereby espousing a women’s rights agenda that is not indigenous and subject to manipulation by [W]estern political interests.”
Since the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, Khan—who refers to herself as a “wokescientist”—published antisemitic memes on Instagram:

On October 27, Khan was also featured in <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/while-universities-refuse-to-fire-anti-semites-the-private-sector-holds-them-accountable/24277">Campus Reform</a> after adding her signature to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oU0LTAsKiGOMxfXnKcxpw-GJV6w5uiMP/view?usp=sharing">an open statement</a> that said:
“We are writers who unequivocally stand with Palestine and its fight for liberation against the illegal occupation of Israel and the violent settler colonial apartheid state. We strongly condemn the response of [W]estern media and political actors at all levels of government in their dissemination of misinformation and propaganda, intended to manufacture consent for the genocide of Palestinian people.”
The statement continues:
“Islamophobic, genocidal, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian rhetoric are all rooted in the languages we use. It is our responsibility to lay bare how language has been used to obscure and preserve the ongoing settler colonial project outside Gaza…”
The signatories' list of political declarations includes:

<a href="https://dhhs.schoolloop.com/pf4/cms2/view_page?d=x&amp;group_id=1211910082970&amp;vdid=5i9f1xybi2f4mj">Robin Mairs</a> is a teacher at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California.
In a recording obtained by a confidential source, a distraught Mairs can be heard telling students that conservative senators will have to answer for their actions for having objected to the presidential election results of 2020, and that Black Lives Matter (BLM) rioters are actually peaceful.
The day after the riots on Capitol Hill, Mairs takes time out of her class to address the events of January 6th, 2021. In the audio, Mairs can be heard accusing Senator Ted Cruz and “a couple other people” of lying to the American people by <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2021/politics/congress-electoral-college-count-tracker/">objecting to the results</a> of the 2020 election, and “sticking with this charade” that election integrity was compromised.
Under the Electoral Count Act of 1887, members of Congress may <a href="https://history.house.gov/Blog/2020/November/11-17-Faithless-Electors/">object</a> to the certification of the Electoral College votes. Following the victory of George W. Bush in the 2004 Presidential election, Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones and California Senator Barbara Boxer <a href="https://www.cleveland.com/open/2020/12/ohios-stephanie-tubbs-jones-lodged-the-nations-last-electoral-vote-protest-in-congress.html">challenged</a> the certification of the electoral count for Ohio. In 2017, eleven separate Democrats objected to the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2017/01/06/politics/electoral-college-vote-count-objections/index.html">certification</a> of the votes for President Donald Trump. Both the 2004 and 2017 objections were ultimately unsuccessful, and the respective votes were officially certified.
After pausing to allow students to ask questions, Mairs continues by addressing the students that think she is “left-wing,” explaining that she watched 8 different news channels during the riot to ensure that she wasn’t receiving biased information. These stations include: Fox and MSNBC (both of whom she describes as radical), CNN, USA Today, Politico, Reuters, PBS, ABC News.  Mairs tells her students to ‘turn off’ the T.V. if their news sources are not describing the riots as an insurrection the way she does.

<a href="https://dhhs.schoolloop.com/pf4/cms2/view_page?d=x&amp;group_id=1211910082970&amp;vdid=5i9f1xybi2f4mj">Robin Mairs</a> is a teacher at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California.

In a recording obtained by a confidential source, a distraught Mairs can be heard telling students that conservative senators will have to answer for their actions for having objected to the presidential election results of 2020, and that Black Lives Matter (BLM) rioters are actually peaceful.

The day after the riots on Capitol Hill, Mairs takes time out of her class to address the events of January 6th, 2021. In the audio, Mairs can be heard accusing Senator Ted Cruz and “a couple other people” of lying to the American people by <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2021/politics/congress-electoral-college-count-tracker/">objecting to the results</a> of the 2020 election, and “sticking with this charade” that election integrity was compromised.

Under the Electoral Count Act of 1887, members of Congress may <a href="https://history.house.gov/Blog/2020/November/11-17-Faithless-Electors/">object</a> to the certification of the Electoral College votes. Following the victory of George W. Bush in the 2004 Presidential election, Ohio Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones and California Senator Barbara Boxer <a href="https://www.cleveland.com/open/2020/12/ohios-stephanie-tubbs-jones-lodged-the-nations-last-electoral-vote-protest-in-congress.html">challenged</a> the certification of the electoral count for Ohio. In 2017, eleven separate Democrats objected to the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2017/01/06/politics/electoral-college-vote-count-objections/index.html">certification</a> of the votes for President Donald Trump. Both the 2004 and 2017 objections were ultimately unsuccessful, and the respective votes were officially certified.

After pausing to allow students to ask questions, Mairs continues by addressing the students that think she is “left-wing,” explaining that she watched 8 different news channels during the riot to ensure that she wasn’t receiving biased information. These stations include: Fox and MSNBC (both of whom she describes as radical), CNN, USA Today, Politico, Reuters, PBS, ABC News.  Mairs tells her students to ‘turn off’ the T.V. if their news sources are not describing the riots as an insurrection the way she does.

Peterson reflected on Shipley’s poem “Boy with Flowers&#8221; &#8211; the story of how Shipley refused to be the flower girl at a relative&#8217;s wedding and eventually underwent a double mastectomy.
Peterson said,
“In its visceral description of [Shipley’s] healing incisions, their stitching, and the surrounding scarring…this passage describes the aftermath of transmasculine top surgery in a way that celebrates and embraces the reality of the speaker’s present trans body while simultaneously attempting to heal the wounds of the past person.”

<a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/17959/neal-chemen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Chemen Neal</a> is an Associate Clinical Professor and the Wellness Director for the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. According to her university profile, Dr. Neal also serves on a “new board for Planned Parenthood as part of the recent merger between Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands (PPGNHI).”
In February 2023, Dr. Neal became the first Executive Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice and Chief Diversity Officer. According <a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/news/2023/01/chemen-neal-named-ead-deij" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to a press release</a>, Dr. Neal will “work closely with academic, research and clinical leaders across the organization to advance DEIJ strategic priorities for students, trainees, faculty and staff.”
Dr. Neal stated:
“Excellence in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice elevates all members of our medical school community. As the largest medical school in the country, we have a responsibility to be leaders in health equity and inclusive excellence. To do that, DEIJ must be woven into all aspects of what we do—research, education, patient care, faculty and staff affairs, and community engagement.”

Dr. Caitlin Bernard is a physician affiliated with IU Health and an <a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/23008/bernard-caitlin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the IU School of Medicine.</a> Dr. Bernard is one of the few doctors in Indiana who has specific training in second-trimester abortions and she <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/28/us/politics/abortion-doctor-caitlin-bernard-ohio.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">performs both surgical and medication abortions several days a month at Planned Parenthood</a> clinincs in Indiana and Kentucky.

On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. Hours after this decision, the state of Ohio outlawed any abortion after six weeks. A few days later, Dr. Bernard gained national media attention for providing an abortion to a 10-year-old girl who was pregnant from rape by an illegal immigrant. The girl traveled from Ohio when she was just over six weeks pregnant.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita announced that an <a href="https://fox59.com/news/national-world/indiana-attorney-general-threatens-license-of-doctor-who-provided-abortion-to-10-year-old-rape-victim/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigation into Dr. Bernard had begun</a>, stating:
“Aside from the horror caused by illegal immigration, we are investigating this situation and waiting for the relevant documents to prove if the abortion and/or the abuse were reported, as Dr. Caitlin Bernard had requirements to do both under Indiana law. The failure to do so constitutes a crime in Indiana, and her behavior could also affect her licensure. Additionally, if a HIPAA violation did occur, that may affect next steps as well. I will not relent in the pursuit of truth.” 
Dr. Bernard’s attorney, Kathleen DeLaney, has <a href="https://www.wthr.com/article/news/health/indiana-doctor-who-provided-abortion-for-10-year-old-files-claim-for-damages-against-indiana-ag-caitlin-bernard-todd-rokita/531-b2c2ba9c-ed3e-4600-906c-e7603cc8eb5a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">filed notice of a tort claim against AG Rokita for defamation.</a> Rokita says that his “comments are supported by facts” but will not provide additional details at this time. As of September 1, Rokita said the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220914171551/https://www.indystar.com/story/news/health/2022/09/14/indiana-attorney-general-todd-rokita-office-declines-to-share-info-on-dr-bernard-complaints/69493958007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigation was “ongoing.”</a>

On May 25, 2023, the Indiana Medical Licensing Board reprimanded and fined Dr. Bernard after they determined, in a 4-1 vote, that she <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/med-professor-fined-over-abortion-of-10-year-old-girls-baby/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">violated federal and state patient privacy laws</a>. Dr. Bernard told <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/news/health/2022/07/01/indiana-abortion-law-roe-v-wade-overturned-travel/7779936001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Indianapolis Star</a> that she was providing an abortion to a 10-year-old from Ohio, prior to seeing the patient.

After Attorney General Todd Rokita filed a complaint against Dr. Bernard in November 2022, the board found her liable on three counts of violating patient privacy laws. During <a href="https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/caitlin-bernard-violated-patient-privacy-abortion-patient-case#:~:text=May%2025%2C%202023,reprimand%20over%20any%20harsher%20punishment." target="_blank" rel="noopener">the hearing</a>, Deputy Attorney General Cory Voight asked Bernard whether it was true that, had she not spoken to the Star, “we wouldn’t be sitting here today?”

Bernard disagreed, saying, “I think that if the attorney general, Todd Rokita, had not chosen to make this his political stunt, we wouldn’t be here today.”

Attorney General spokesperson Kelly Stevenson counted the board’s decision as a win for patient privacy, commenting, “It’s not right and the facts were presented today that made that very clear.”

However, the board unanimously sided against the attorney general by dismissing two other allegations against Dr. Bernard. <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/26/us/dr-caitlin-bernard-indiana-medical-board-hearing/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> reports the board determined “she did not violate laws requiring physicians to immediately report suspected child abuse and keep abreast of mandatory reporting and patient privacy laws.”

Dr. Bernard will be fined $3,000 and will receive a letter of reprimand, which agreed to allow her to continue practicing medicine.

Board President Dr. John Strobel said, “I don’t think she expected this to go viral. I don’t think she expected this attention to be brought to this patient.” He added,
“I think she’s a good doctor and I think she’s safe to go back to practice.”

<a href="https://law.indiana.edu/about/people/details/thusi-i.-india.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">I. India Thusi</a> is a Professor of Law at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. According to her university profile, her research examines “racial and sexual hierarchies as they relate to policing, race, and gender.”

Professor Thusi is a Senior Scientist at the <a href="https://kinseyinstitute.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kinsey Institute</a>, previously known as the Kinsey Institute for Sex Research. The institute is named after Alfred Kinsey, who published a book during his tenure there titled “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Sexual-Behavior-Human-Alfred-Kinsey/dp/0253334128" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Behavior in the Human Male</a>.”

This book features several charts that <a href="http://stopthekinseyinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/BRIEF_The-Kinsey-Institute-Exposed_A-Warning-to-Parents-and-Governments_52014.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document the “sexual responses” of children</a> from infants through teens. The <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20221217122939/https://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/03/movies/alfred-kinsey-liberator-or-pervert.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times</a> reports, in 1995, it was discovered that much of the data used in this work came from Kinsey’s correspondence with a well-known pedophile.

In February 2023, the Indiana House voted 53-34 to <a href="https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/briefs/house-votes-to-strip-ius-kinsey-institute-of-state-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prohibit state dollars</a> from going to the Kinsey Institute over concerns with the institute’s namesake. Further concerns were brought from Representative Cindy Ledbetter who said her job as a nurse practitioner has required her to take training from the Kinsey Institute on <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2023/03/08/5-bills-targeting-transgender-rights-indiana-general-assembly/69936310007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">how to administer gender-affirming medications</a> to transgender children.

As part of her work with the institute, Professor Thusi <a href="https://deliverypdf.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=502127090083070016029094123083082089097086084036020059023084068071008116118082029119033028006123050113058084074003090109014024062005008023034102026108125025084006116021035085100086078121019124067017092122108127109103076092012015089065084025102004005105&amp;EXT=pdf&amp;INDEX=TRUE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote a paper discussing “reality porn,”</a> which she defines as “sexually explicit materials or experiences that are facilitated through online virtual platforms.” She further defines the term by clarifying that these sexual experiences would typically “fit within the legal definition of prostitution in most states because they involve sexual conduct in exchange for a fee - but that are expressive in nature.”

Thusi writes, ”Reality porn is pornographic paid sex work that should be accorded First Amendment recognition, notwithstanding the criminalization of the underlying act of prostitution.” She notes that she has “previously argued that all forms of sex work should be decriminalized” and she extends the same argument to reality porn.
“As long as this conduct is consentable - both consented to in face and consensual in nature - it should not be deprived of constitutional protection.” 
Thusi wrote an op-ed for <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/civil-rights/586608-its-time-to-stop-policing-womens-bodies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a> titled, “It’s time to stop policing women’s bodies.” She believes, “Decriminalized sex work and access to abortion allow women in economic precarity [to] escape destitution.” She also argues:
“Feminists should embrace a definition of sexual freedom that goes beyond the right to prevent reproduction and which focuses on women’s sexual autonomy - including the autonomy to end a pregnancy or to profit from how women use their own bodies.”

<a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/17315/scott-nicole" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Nicole Scott</a> is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and the Director of Indiana University’s School of Medicine’s OB-GYN Residency Training Program.

Dr. Scott is <a href="https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/news/2022/07/25/indiana-abortion-laws-could-affect-obstetric-deserts-maternal-mortality/10031897002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pro-abortion</a> and has claimed, “Abortion is not a dirty word. Abortion is a healthcare procedure that can be life-saving for some people.”

After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Dr. Scott was featured in a <a href="https://www.wthr.com/article/news/special-reports/indiana-abortion/indiana-university-school-of-medicine-adjusting-ob-gyn-residency-program-after-abortion-ban/531-8d3a24b8-29a6-48b0-981b-5c0e12ee3819" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WTHR</a> article titled, “IU School of Medicine adjusts OB-GYN residency program after abortion ban.” Dr. Scott stated, “Abortion care training is still a requirement for OB-GYN residents and the new legislation limits that to some degree for our resident doctors.”

Dr. Scott <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/08/10/1116024857/young-obgyns-indiana" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims the residents</a> in the program are “devastated” by the Roe v. Wade decision, saying, “They signed up to provide comprehensive health care to women. And they are being told that they can’t do that.”

In response, the program will begin sending residents to Illinois to receive abortion training. However, she says:
“This is not as simple as just showing up in an office and saying, ‘Can I observe?’ This includes getting a medical license for out-of-state trainees. This includes funding for travel and lodging. It adds a lot to what we already do to educate future OB-GYNs.” 
Dr. Scott is concerned that the overturn of Roe v. Wade will affect the quality of candidates that are interested in Indiana University’s School of Medicine. She says “there’s no other specialty that is legislated to the degree that obstetrics and gynecology is,” and <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/news/health/2022/06/30/indiana-doctors-nurses-medical-students-rally-abortion-rights-downtown/7777837001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a>:
“As an educational and research institution, we will not attract the best of the best students and trainees in a state that takes away rights of over half the population."

<a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/17959/neal-chemen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Chemen Neal</a> is an Associate Clinical Professor and the Wellness Director for the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. According to her university profile, Dr. Neal also serves on a “new board for Planned Parenthood as part of the recent merger between Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands (PPGNHI).”

In February 2023, Dr. Neal became the first Executive Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice and Chief Diversity Officer. According <a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/news/2023/01/chemen-neal-named-ead-deij" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to a press release</a>, Dr. Neal will “work closely with academic, research and clinical leaders across the organization to advance DEIJ strategic priorities for students, trainees, faculty and staff.”

Dr. Neal stated:
“Excellence in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice elevates all members of our medical school community. As the largest medical school in the country, we have a responsibility to be leaders in health equity and inclusive excellence. To do that, DEIJ must be woven into all aspects of what we do—research, education, patient care, faculty and staff affairs, and community engagement.” 
Her new role <a href="https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/new-leader-on-diversity-at-iu-school-of-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">will be responsible for a variety of areas</a>, including:
-”Developing and guiding implementation of DEIJ strategic plans” 
-”Defining and monitoring DEIJ key performance indicators”

Dr. Neal says some of her early goals in her new role include “establishing metrics to help school leadership gain a greater understanding of key areas like retention and belonging, as well as a focus on the diversification of faculty.”

Meeting this priority will take a multifaceted approach that involves all aspects of our mission from culture to climate to research to education. After we understand where we are then we can make strategic plans for moving forward over the next several years.”

<a href="https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/9156/rouse-caroline">Dr. Caroline Rouse</a> is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. According to her Riley Children’s Health <a href="https://www.rileychildrens.org/find-a-doctor/physician/caroline-e-rouse">profile</a>, Dr. Rouse “is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist with expertise in caring for expectant mothers and their unborn babies.”

In September 2023, Dr. Rouse <a href="https://www.indystar.com/story/opinion/2023/09/01/america-abortion-debate-indiana-is-crossroads-bleak-future/70727114007/">wrote an op-ed</a> with colleague Dr. Sherrine Ibrahim titled, “Indiana is the crossroads of America’s abortion debate and our future is bleak.” The authors condemn Indiana’s August 2023 <a href="https://iga.in.gov/legislative/2022ss1/bills/senate/1/details">abortion law</a>, which criminalizes abortion after 20 weeks and medication abortions after 8 weeks. They argue that “abortion is a critical health care service” and claim exceptions for rape, incest, and to protect the life of the mother are not enough. They state:
“Health care practitioners continue to express that exceptions are too nebulous to follow and apply to actual clinical situations. These laws back us into a corner, forcing us to decide if we are willing to risk large fines, loss of licensure, and even imprisonment in order to provide necessary, life-saving, health care.” 
They conclude their op-ed by writing:
“Decisions regarding pregnancy do not belong in the state Capitol. They belong with patients and their health care practitioners. … If our political leaders allow the abortion ban to stay in place, Indiana’s future is bleak.” 
<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=23954">Campus Reform</a> reports that Dr. Rouse has previously been accused of “skirting state laws:”
“Voices for Life, a pro-life organization headquartered in South Bend, Indiana, filed a complaint against her on Jan. 23 of this year for performing a pill abortion on a woman who was 21 weeks pregnant, according to a termination of pregnancy report. At the time, state law only permitted pill abortions up to eight week postfertilization.” 
Melanie Lyon, Executive Director of Voices for Life, stated:
“Dr. Rouse advocates for the safety of mothers and children one day, while the next she ends babies’ lives by performing abortions at Riley Maternity Tower. That along with her apparent illegal activity makes her someone the State should hold accountable: not look to for guidance.”

<a href="https://polisci.indiana.edu/about/faculty/sinno-abdulkader.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Abdulkader Sinno</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Indiana University Bloomington. He also teaches Middle Eastern Studies and publishes works dealing with “public attitudes towards Muslim immigration” and the “Islamist parties’ participation in elections.”

In January 2024, Sinno was featured in the <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty-issues/shared-governance/2024/01/11/indiana-u-sanctions-professor-supporting-pro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Inside Higher Ed article</a>, “Indiana U Sanctions Professor Who Advised Pro-Palestinian Students.” Sinno’s guest speaker was pro-Palestinian activist <a href="https://mikopeled.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Miko Peled</a>, who has called for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel. According to his website, Peled also advocates for “the creation of one democratic state with equal rights for Israelis and Palestinians” despite the <a href="https://embassies.gov.il/holysee/AboutIsrael/the-middle-east/Pages/The%20Hamas-Covenant.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">genocidal goals</a> of the Palestinian government.

The publication explains how Sinno was temporarily <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CbFlUIN8KXaM-oLB01RcDO_1yAi2ew8n/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a> after “he helped book a room on campus for a November [2023] event hosted by the Palestine Solidarity Committee, a student organization.”

Inside Higher Ed said:
“Sinno booked the event space on November 6 without issue. But on November 15 … [a U.S. representative] sent a strongly worded letter to IU president Pamela Whitten, raising questions about alleged incidents of antisemitism on campus … That evening, Sinno said, his department chair told him to cancel the room reservation because he’d allegedly violated university policy by listing the department as the event sponsor.”
Over 350 faculty have signed an online <a href="https://www.petitions.net/open_letter_in_support_of_professor_abdulkader_sinno" target="_blank" rel="noopener">petition</a> demanding Sinno’s immediate <a href="https://politicalsciencenow.com/apsa-statement-on-indiana-universitys-sanctioning-of-professor-abdulkader-sinno/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reinstatement</a>. In March 2024, IU’s review board <a href="https://www.idsnews.com/article/2024/04/iu-administrator-violated-policy-suspending-professor-abdulkader-sinno" target="_blank" rel="noopener">determined</a> that university policy was violated in Sinno’s case. 

Sinno’s penalty bars him from teaching until the Fall of 2024. As of publication, he has not been reinstated.

According to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, the professor advised his class to do the following:
“In a 1 to 2-page business letter, write your assembly member and/or state senator as to how the high fees and tuition of the California State University impacts you, and your family, not only financially but also psychologically and in other ways. Also include why you believe free tuition would better impact your education.”

Dr. <a href="https://www.csuci.edu/news/releases/2020-richard-yao-appointed-interim-president-csuci.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richard Yao</a> is the interim president of <a href="https://www.csuci.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California State University - Channel Islands (CSUCI)</a> as of November 2021. Prior to his role, he served as the Vice President of Student Affairs for CSUCI, the Dean of Students, the Chief Student Affairs Officer, and a Senior Lecturer in Psychology for Nevada State College.

In a campus-wide email, Dr. Yao implied that Kyle Rittenhouse would benefit from his trial because he is white.

The letter was sent to all CSUCI students as the jury was deliberating following closing arguments. Rittenhouse was on trial for the shooting deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber, and injuries to Gaige Grosskreutz.

Dr. Yao begins by addressing the events that occurred in Kenosha the previous year:

“There is a long and profound weariness that many members of our campus community may be acutely experiencing as we start this week, as the nation awaits the outcome of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin. We have been in this place before - too many times and too recently - but here we are again, awaiting the fate of Mr. Rittenhouse, whose response to the Black Lives Matter protest that broke out in Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake just over a year ago resulted in the death of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injuries to Gaige Grosskreutz, 27.” 

The incident with Jacob Blake that Dr. Yao is referring to occurred the previous year. <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/08/28/this-is-why-jacob-blake-had-a-warrant-out-for-his-arrest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Blake was already wanted for the sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend</a>. On August 23, police were called to his girlfriend’s residence for a disturbance involving Blake. <a href="https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/kenosha-kyle-rittenhouse-the-rest-of-the-jacob-blake-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">As police attempted to detain Blake, he became uncooperative and the officers attempted to place him under arrest. </a>

Police were then forced to tase Blake, who began walking towards his car, which contained his two children. Blake failed to obey their orders to drop <a href="https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/kenosha-kyle-rittenhouse-the-rest-of-the-jacob-blake-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the knife he was carrying</a> and was shot as he reached into the door of his car.

Due to the misinformation spread after the shooting, riots soon broke out in Kenosha. The looting, arson, and vandalism that followed resulted in <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/damage-rioting-kenosha-50-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">50 million dollars in damages to local businesses.</a>

<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/kyle-rittenhouse-days-leading-up-to-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Having spent the day cleaning up graffiti in a nearby neighborhood</a>, Kyle Rittenhouse joined several other residents to guard community business against the rioters with AR-15’s.

Several of the rioters—Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz—attacked Rittenhouse as he walked down the street with his rifle. The incident began when Rosenbaum chased Rittenhouse into a parking lot. At this point, Joshua Ziminski—another rioter present—fired upon Rittenhouse with his gun. <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/11/10/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-a-clear-case-of-self-defense-devine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rosenbaum immediately proceeded to grab the barrel of Kyle’s rifle resulting in Rittenhouse shooting and killing him</a>.

Rittenhouse was then chased down the street by other rioters, including Huber and Grosskreutz. He tripped and was assaulted while on the ground. Huber proceeded to repeatedly hit Rittenhouse in the head with a skateboard and attempted to steal his rifle, forcing Rittenhouse to shoot and kill him.

Grosskreutz proceeded to approach Rittenhouse with a loaded Glock, aiming the weapon at his head in an apparent attempt to kill him. Grosskreutz—<a href="https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/victoria-taft/2021/11/08/antifa-medic-wounded-by-kyle-rittenhouse-makes-never-before-heard-accusation-from-witness-stand-it-may-backfire-on-him-n1530795" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a member of the ANTIFA affiliated “People’s Revolution”</a>—was then shot by Rittenhouse.

Rittenhouse faced charges of homicide, a <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/annakaplan/2021/11/15/here-are-the-charges-kyle-rittenhouse-faces-after-judge-tossed-dangerous-weapon-misdemeanor/?sh=7d99d8b91cee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">conviction that would carry a life sentence</a>, but was <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/rittenhouse-trial-jury" target="_blank" rel="noopener">later found innocent by the jury.</a>

Further in his letter, Dr. Yao strongly implies that Rittenhouse is receiving special treatment because of the color of his skin. He proceeds to pose a hypothetical situation, in which instead of a white teenager, a “black 18-year-old” had participated in the “armed response” to the BLM protests in Kenosha. Continuing, he expresses sympathy for “Black, Indigenous, and other people of color” who find it “difficult” to keep from imagining this scenario.

“While Mr. Rittenhouse’s emotional testimony on the stand told a story of self-defense, for Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color, it may be difficult to keep from imagining how the Rittenhouse story may have unfolded had it happened to be the fate of a Black 18-year-old who answered the call of an unauthorized militia for an armed response to the protests and destruction of property that was occurring in downtown Kenosha.” 

Several of the rioters who attacked Rittenhouse have numerous arrests and convictions: <a href="https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/03/12/kenosha-shooting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Huber was previously convicted for domestic abuse</a>, Grosskreutz had been arrested for <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/11/15/sole-survivor-of-rittenhouse-shootings-has-criminal-past-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">burglary and assaulting his grandmother</a>. Rosenbaum was a <a href="https://townhall.com/columnists/katiepavlich/2021/11/12/the-left-always-defends-the-real-criminals-n2599027" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted pedophile who was on lifetime probation for the anal rape and sexual assault of young boys</a>. A video later emerged of Rosenbaum<a href="https://nypost.com/2020/08/28/kenosha-shooting-victim-seen-in-video-confronting-armed-men/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> aggressively confronting Kyle and calling him the “n-word” throughout the evening</a>.

Despite their criminal records, Dr. Yao proceeds to express sympathy for Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz, lamenting the “trauma” Rittenhouse has caused their families.

“While the jury may begin deliberations in the Rittenhouse trial as soon as today, we do not need to wait until the final verdict to recognize the lives that were lost and the hurt and trauma that families have and will continue to experience in the days, months, and years ahead.” 

Despite the fact that Rosenbaum, Huber, and Grosskreutz, are not black or persons of color, and no evidence has indicated that Rittenhouse’s actions were driven by racial animus, Dr. Yao still characterizes the trial in racial terms. Stating that, “we do not need to wait for the final verdict,” he reaffirms the university will continue to pursue “racial and social justice.”

“In addition, we do not need to wait until the final verdict to reinforce and strengthen our institutional values and mission of realizing racial and social justice. This process can be exhausting and angering, and there are legitimate reasons embedded in our nation’s history for feeling weary, angry, hopeless, and even cynical. But I call explicitly on each individual member of our campus community to resist hopelessness and cynicism. Weariness can be overcome, but hopelessness and cynicism are signals of defeat.“

Dr. Yao has promoted or developed other racial justice-themed materials under his leadership at the University. In February of 2021, he approved the <a href="https://policy.csuci.edu/sp/20/sp20-02-committee-equity-and-anti-racism.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Policy on Academic Senate Committee on Equity and Anti-Racism</a>, whose explicit goal is the promotion of “equity, anti-racism, and diversity.” The committee exerts enormous influence over the campus; members hold the power to review faculty hiring, retention, tenure, and department bylaws to ensure adherence to the committee's stated goals.

Just two months later, Dr. Yao released another message to the student body, titled, “<a href="https://www.csuci.edu/president/2021-04-19-student-message.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In Solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement and Racial Justice.</a>”  The letter credits the BLM movement for the “momentum” created during the previous year for “racial and social justice.”

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country in the Summer months of 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

<a href="https://www.fau.edu/artsandletters/scms/faculty/morse/index/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nicole Morse</a> is a transgender professor of Gender Studies at Florida Atlantic University. Morse uses “they/them/theirs” pronouns and “examines diversity within LGBTQ communities, especially issues related to race, class, incarceration, and misogyny.”
After Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7, Morse penned an op-ed for the <a href="https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/opinion/letters/2023/10/09/house-gop-must-engage-in-the-world-and-support-israel-and-ukraine/71072003007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palm Beach Post</a> titled, “War steeped in Palestinian oppression.” Morse wrote:
“For 75 years, Palestinians have faced brutal oppression, and every US taxpayer is complicit in this violence and oppression. The root of today’s violence is this history of oppression, which is funded by the U.S. and supported without question by South Florida politicians.”
“As a Jew and as a human being committed to human rights, I must speak out against this complicity and I hope that others will join me in demanding that the U.S. end military support for Israel.” 
Later in October 2023, Morse was <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/florida-atlantic-university-gender-studies-professor-arrested-at-pro-hamas-protest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested at a “stand with Palestine” rally</a> outside of Senator Rick Scott’s office. The rally was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace’s South Florida chapter—a pro-Palestine organization of which Morse is a member—and accused Israel of overseeing a “genocide in Gaza.”
<a href="https://thenationaldesk.com/news/americas-news-now/fau-trans-studies-professor-arrested-during-pro-palestine-rally" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The National Desk</a> reports:
“Morse, along with a group of protesters, entered the lobby of the building after 5:00 p.m. and blocked its front entrance while holding signs urging Scott to call for a ceasefire. When building security asked the protesters to continue their rally on public property, they ‘refused to move,’ the affidavit reads. Officers gave the protesters a second chance ‘but they again refused.’”
Morse and three others were taken to the Coral Gables Police Department where they were charged with misdemeanors. To escape jailtime, Morse signed a promise to appear document where she agreed to appear in court on her trial date.

Later in October 2023, Morse was <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/florida-atlantic-university-gender-studies-professor-arrested-at-pro-hamas-protest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested at a “stand with Palestine” rally</a> outside of Senator Rick Scott’s office. The rally was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace’s South Florida chapter—a pro-Palestine organization of which Morse is a member—and accused Israel of overseeing a “genocide in Gaza.”

“Morse, along with a group of protesters, entered the lobby of the building after 5:00 p.m. and blocked its front entrance while holding signs urging Scott to call for a ceasefire. When building security asked the protesters to continue their rally on public property, they ‘refused to move,’ the affidavit reads. Officers gave the protesters a second chance ‘but they again refused.’”
Morse and three others were taken to the Coral Gables Police Department where they were charged with misdemeanors. To escape jailtime, Morse signed a promise to appear document where she agreed to appear in court on her trial date.

In a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/yale-professor-blasted-program-working-3-year-olds-gender-journey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-deleted video</a>, Olezeski states, “the Yale gender program, is an interdisciplinary program working with gender-expansive individuals 3-25.” Continuing, she says the program “helps individuals who are questioning their gender identity as transgender or non-binary” and vows to help children on “their gender journey.”
The <a href="https://www.yalemedicine.org/departments/pediatric-gender-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">program’s website</a> claims that surgeries are only preformed on individuals over the age of 18. The website further alleges, “Social transition is the only medically accepted form of gender-affirming care–and the only form of care we provide–for that age group.” 
Continuing it states, “Some youth are exploring their identity. Others know that how they feel inside does not match up with the gender they were assigned at birth. We help sort through these questions.” 
Yale has since deleted the YouTube video in which Olezeski discusses the gender program. She has also made her personal social media pages private.

<a href="https://provost.yale.edu/people/jason-killheffer">Jason Killheffer</a> is the Assistant Provost of Academic Integrity Programs at Yale University. As part of an undercover operation by James O’Keefe and Project Veritas, Killheffer called the Constitution propaganda. He told an undercover journalist “If your freedom of expression impacts other people’s ability to engage actively in the community, to engage in their education or really take full advantage of everything that the university has to offer, then that’s when things cross that line.” In other words, Killheffer believes that being triggered by a Constitution is a valid reason for the university to step in and possibly prevent distribution.

Daniel Martinez HoSang is <a href="https://politicalscience.yale.edu/people/daniel-hosang" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an Associate Professor</a> of Ethnicity, Race &amp; Migration and American Studies at Yale University. He has written many publications and focuses his work on racism and race in politics. He holds strong opinions about conservatives and has both written and lectured several times on the subject.

Dr. HoSang recently wrote a book with <a href="https://professorwatchlist.org/professor/josephlowndes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Joseph Lowndes</a>, who is also on the Professor Watchlist. The book, titled “<a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/producers-parasites-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity</a>,” discusses white supremacy in conservative politics. In the book, Dr. HoSang accuses conservatives of being racist and participating in “multiracial white supremacy.”

According to Dr. HoSang, white conservatives work to maintain their economic power while also highlighting and praising minority conservatives in an effort to portray the concept that they aren’t racist.

Dr. HoSang has also recently become involved in K-12 learning. He was one of the founders of an organization in Connecticut called the <a href="https://antiracistteaching.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning Collective</a>, or ARTLC. The organization works with students and teachers alike to push anti-racism, and in turn, Critical Race Theory, in K-12 schools across Connecticut. In an article for the CT Mirror, Dr. HoSang alleges that “if we want to address racism in society at large, we have to address it in policing, and housing, and health care — but we also need to address it in the 3rd grade music classroom, in the 7th grade social studies classroom.”

Dr. HoSang also leads workshops for K-12 teachers that perpetuate the ideals that racism runs deep in education and teaching across all subjects. He helps teachers create curriculum centered on anti-racism and Critical Race Theory.  In the summers of 2020 and 2021, Dr. HoSang was a core faculty member of the AAPF’s Critical Race Theory Summer School lecture series for teachers and scholars. The program’s purpose is to counter conservative and republican efforts to keep Critical Race Theory out of the classroom.

According to the DailyMail, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11418747/Yale-sophomore-student-20-reveals-hid-attempted-suicide-college-raped.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Hoffman is the psychologist</a> in charge of student mental health at Yale University. Hoffman is at the center of a story involving Yale’s policies that ban suicidal students from campus. 

DailyMail said, “To return to class, [students] must reapply - writing an essay, and sending in letters of recommendation…Those who left for mental health reasons also had to demonstrate to Yale that they’d addressed their problems.”

Hoffman’s <a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/paul-hoffman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a> says he’s Chief of Mental Health and Counseling, Voluntary Faculty for Departments and Organizations, and the <a href="https://yalehealth.yale.edu/directory/clinicians/paul-hoffman-phd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of Mental Health</a> and Counseling for Yale. No further information is available regarding Hoffman’s employment.

After a student attempted suicide, Hoffman attended an unpublicized Zoom call between the student, her parents, and Yale representatives. <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/11/11/yale-suicides-mental-health-withdrawals/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post reported</a>, “In an interview, Hoffman and other Yale officials declined to discuss Yale’s withdrawal policies or specific student cases.”

Washington Post continued, “As soon as the Zoom call with Hoffman ended, hospital staffers handed [the student her cellphone]. She began typing out the email Hoffman had asked her to send.” The email eventually played a role in the student’s expulsion. 

Yale’s <a href="https://yalecollege.yale.edu/policies-procedures/leave-absence-withdrawal-and-reinstatement#:~:text=Any%20student%20may%20voluntarily%20withdraw,activities%2C%20or%20use%20University%20facilities." target="_blank" rel="noopener">mandatory medical withdrawal and reinstatement</a> policy says, 

"Any student may voluntarily withdraw; Yale College also reserves the right to require students to withdraw in certain cases. Students on withdrawal may not stay in residencies on campus, attend classes, participate in extracurricular activities, or use University facilities. They may come to campus only upon receiving prior permission from their residential college dean or the Dean of Student Affairs.”

<a href="https://americanstudies.yale.edu/people/zareena-grewal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zareena Grewal</a> is an Associate Professor of American Studies at Yale University. Grewal’s faculty profile says her research “focuses on race, gender, religion, nationalism, and transnationalism across a wide spectrum of American Muslim communities.”  

The university profile also describes <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Islam-Foreign-Country-American-Authority/dp/1479800562" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grewal’s book</a> - “Islam is a Foreign Country: American Muslims and the Global Crisis of Authority”- as “an ethnography of transnational Muslim networks that link US mosques to Islamic movements in the post-colonial Middle East through debates about the reform of Islam.”

<a href="https://nyupress.org/9781479800568/islam-is-a-foreign-country/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NYU Press</a> further promotes the book with questions like “What does it mean to be Muslim and American?” and “Who has the authority to speak for Islam and to lead the stunningly diverse population of American Muslims?”

Grewal was featured in the <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/10/12/radical-yale-professor-faces-calls-to-be-fired-over-comments-on-hamas-attacks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> after she allegedly defended the Hamas terrorist organization’s attack against Israel in October 2023. According to the Post, “[Grewal] is facing calls to be ousted over her social media posts in which she appeared to justify Hamas terrorists killing Israeli civilians—and called Israel a ‘murderous, genocidal settler state.’”

While Grewal’s <a href="https://twitter.com/ZareenaGrewal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">social media posts</a> remain in a protected and private status, the following screenshot from her account was shared across the internet:

<a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/meredithe-mcnamara/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Meredithe McNamara</a>, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Affiliate Faculty at Yale School of Medicine. Her university profile says she “cares for youth aged 11–25” and is interested in “implementing best practices in the care of youth facing complex trauma and high-risk social situations.” Dr. McNamara’s Yale New Haven Health <a href="https://www.ynhh.org/physicians/meredithe-mcnamara" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profile</a> biography states:
“Adolescent medicine is a one-stop shopping for all of a youth’s health needs, including general care, mental health and coping with trauma…safe sex and birth control, substance use support, and gender-affirming care.”
In a video titled “<a href="https://vimeo.com/839075778" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gender Transition in Young People</a>,” Dr. McNamara is asked how policies that restrict gender transition in minors affect their mental health. She stated:
“They’re very harmful to the mental health of trans and gender-diverse young people. The intrusion of legal interference in standard healthcare is not something that we’re really used to. This is kind of like a brand new and dangerous force that’s infiltrating not only our healthcare but also our social networks…”
She goes on to say that sex reassignment bans are “causing a lot of existential dread” and “deprive young people of life-saving healthcare that affirms who they are.”

Dr. McNamara appeared as a guest on <a href="https://youtu.be/9iHKUJPvjtc">News Nation</a>, with host Chris Cuomo, where she advocated for transitioning children from an early age:

“(1) perpetuates stigma and disrupts access to healthcare…
(2) leads to social and economic marginalization…
(3) gives tacit approval for violence and harassment,
 (4) worsens mental health, and 
(5) fuels persecution.”

Vora’s “Marxist Thought” class “examines critical engagements between scholarship from postcolonial, feminist and other radical Marxist traditions” while focusing on “philosophical and political debates stemming from issues of race and gender…”

Vora <a href="https://www.kalindivora.com/media" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> on The Harmony Show podcast alongside a co-host who identified as a “robosexual/idolator” to discuss Vora’s book “Surrogate Humanity: Race Robots and the Politics of Technological Futures.” She described the concept of the book:
“[T]he whole book is trying to explain how we think that this is a new kind of antiracist and feminist analytic that we can use to think through the way that racial and gender politics come up around labor in technology…
“And we start the book by thinking alongside the historian and black feminist, Saidiya Hartman, who wrote a book called ‘Scenes of Subjection.’ In that book, Hartman talks about the concept of the surrogate…in the context of US chattel slavery.”

In 2017, the University of California, Davis <a href="https://research.ucdavis.edu/fri_director/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> Vora as the Director of its Feminist Research Institute (FRI). The institute exists as a “collaborative, trans-disciplinary hub for exploring how gender, sexuality, race, and other social structures inform the design, execution, and interpretation of research.”

During her time as the Director, Vora led a <a href="https://fri.ucdavis.edu/news/kalindi-vora-and-sarah-mccullough-antiracist-approaches-sts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discussion</a> on “antiracist approaches to STS [science, technology and society].” She also joined a <a href="https://fri.ucdavis.edu/events/mellon-racial-capitalism-speaker-series" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panel discussion</a> to analyze “racial capitalism” and <a href="https://fri.ucdavis.edu/news/director-kalindi-voras-feministfutures-closing-remarks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared in an article</a> explaining “abolitionist care.” 

Vora defines abolitionist care as “an antidote to violence that demands a [commitment] to maintaining, repairing and attending survivors of violence while [fighting] capitalism’s anti-rationality [and] the materiality enforced by racial capitalism.”

<a href="https://ysph.yale.edu/profile/megan-ranney/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Megan Ranney</a> is the Dean of Yale University’s School of Public Health. Her research focuses on “developing, testing, and disseminating digital health interventions to prevent violence and related behavioral health problems, as well as on COVID-related risk reduction.” Ranney previously served as the Warren Alpert Endowed Professor of Emergency Medicine at Brown University.

In an <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/17/opinions/public-trust-in-scientists-ranney-jetelina/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opinion editorial for CNN</a>, Ranney addressed the decline in trust of physicians due to the over-administering of COVID-19 vaccines. Ranney writes:
“[Physicians are] worried about what lies ahead if we don’t turn the ship on trust in science. Imagine if there’s another pandemic, a climate disaster or a biosecurity hazard like anthrax—and we haven’t fixed the trust problem. Think about what might happen if we, as a country, stop funding the science innovation that has allowed our dramatic gains in human health. And what if more Americans refuse to get their kids vaccinated or if our public health institutions are shut down?”
On November 29, 2023, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gun-crime-expert-blasts-red-state-cherry-picking-by-yale-professor-in-senate-hearing-political-bias" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News featured Ranney</a> in an article titled “Gun crime expert blasts red state ‘cherry-picking’ by Yale professor in Senate hearing: ‘Political bias.’” While testifying before Congress about gun violence, Ranney was suspected of naming certain states based on her political ideology.

When asked why she thought “Chicago has become America’s largest outdoor shooting range?”, Fox said, “Ranney responded by comparing Chicago to three [conservative-led] states and claiming Mississippi, Louisiana and Missouri ‘actually have higher firearm death rates.’”

When further pressed about Chicago’s crime statistics, Ranney stated:
“I think there’s easy access to firearms combined with environmental conditions, lack of great education. There have actually been studies that when you green vacant lots and repair abandoned buildings in urban neighborhoods you see decreases in gunshots and violence as well as stress and depression in the neighborhoods around them.”
<a href="https://president.yale.edu/president/yale-talk/approaching-gun-violence-public-health-issue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">During her talk</a> with Yale University President Peter Salovey, Ranney <a href="https://president.yale.edu/sites/default/files/yaletalkepisode39-ranney-transcript.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded to the question</a> of funding for firearm death research:
“The biggest reason is that from 1996-2020, there was virtually no federal funding…partly because it wasn’t defined as a public health problem, but partly because in 1996 [a representative] from Arkansas…passed the Dickey Amendment, which told the CDC that it was prohibited from using funds to promote or advocate for gun control.”

“Police chiefs like talking to me because I’m an expert on a problem that feels impossible for them to solve: racism in their profession. Now my expertise comes from being a scientist, who studies how our minds learn to associate blackness and crime and misperceive black children as older than they actually are.”

A 2023 revised version of the <a href="https://bjs.ojp.gov/content/pub/pdf/cbpp18st.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.S. Department of Justice document</a> entitled “Contacts Between Police and the Public, 2018–Statistics Tables” shows that out of 61.5 million American residents who had contact with police that “whites (26%) were more likely than blacks (21%), Hispanics (19%), or persons of other races (20%) to experience police contact.” 

Although the statistics show that “a higher percentage of blacks (4%) and Hispanics (3%) than whites (2%) experience threats or use of force,” a <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/topic-pages/tables/table-43" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2019 FBI report</a> reveals black people commit higher rates of murder/manslaughter and robbery. These are daunting demographics considering black people make up <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/fact-sheet/facts-about-the-us-black-population/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">14% of the total population</a> in the United States (depending on the source of information).

Solomon contributed an <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/abolition-isn-t-a-relic-of-our-past-it-s-the-key-to-revitalising-democracy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opinion editorial</a> to the World Economic Forum entitled “‘Abolition’ isn’t a relic of our past. It’s the key to revitalizing democracy.” He opened by asking, “Are you an abolitionist?” and lists flashpoints of history where the term was used to fight slavery (e.g. Emancipation Proclamation, Abraham Lincoln). He proceeded to write:

“Abolition, however, is not a relic of history. It is an ongoing movement to rethink the systems that produce inequity and build a society that values the lives of the most vulnerable. It permeates almost every issue that the World Economic Forum includes on its <a href="https://www.weforum.org/events/the-davos-agenda-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2021 Agenda</a>, from COVID-19 to tax policy.”

He further encouraged readers to take on a mindset of “abolition democracy,” the term coined by radical activist and NAACP co-founder, <a href="https://www.thenation.com/article/society/web-du-bois-black-reconstruction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">W.E.B. Du Bois</a>. Solomon <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/abolition-isn-t-a-relic-of-our-past-it-s-the-key-to-revitalising-democracy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>:
“In my own work as the CEO and Co-Founder of the Center for Policing Equity, that means fundamentally reimagining public safety … It means measuring justice along with crime, and aligning our mechanisms of public safety with the values of the communities — particularly communities that have historically faced discrimination and disinvestment.”
“Charity alone, kindness from those who have benefitted most from institutions that marginalize the vulnerable, cannot lead us to justice. Abolition democracy, the working of rebuilding our systems with equity at their core, just might be able to.”

<a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/amanda-calhoun/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amanda Joy Calhoun</a>, MD, MPH is Chief Resident of the Albert J. Solnit Integrated Adult/Child Psychiatry program at Yale University. According to her faculty profile, Calhoun “specializes in the effects of medical anti-Black racism.”

After the 2024 U.S. General Election, Calhoun is facing criticism after telling Vice President Kamala Harris supporters to disassociate from relatives who voted for President-Elect Donald Trump. She explained her reasoning on the MSNBC show The ReidOut:

“So, if you are going through a situation where you have family members or you have close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, that are against your livelihood, then it’s completely fine to not be around those people, and to tell them why.”

Her area of interest is nineteenth-century American history, which she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. <a href="https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/theology/people/faculty-directory/natana-delong-bas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Natana J. Delong-Bas</a> is an Associate Professor of Practice in the <a href="https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/theology.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Theology Department</a> at <a href="https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston College</a>. Much of her scholarship focuses on the Koran and women's rights under Islamic law. Dr. Delong-Bas is further known for her strident defenses of Islam as a religion of peace, even going so far as denying al-Qaeda's role in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

A significant aspect of her research and her publications concentrate on Wahhabism, a conservative sect of Islam whose adherents are known for their strict interpretation of Koranic Law. In addition to claiming <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLWWopyMzxQ&amp;ab_channel=PulitzerCenter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">that Islam has no connection to religious violence and extremism</a>, she declares <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/10775/natana-delong-bas-american-professor-wahhabi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wahhabism—in its true form—has no connection to violent, Islamist extremism</a> when it occurs.

<a href="https://www.investigativeproject.org/documents/testimony/47.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wahhabism</a> emerged as a puritanical sect of Islam in the 18th century. Adherents—who are referred to as “Salafists”—seek to purify any sect or branch of Islam that does not adopt the 7-century practices and teaching of the Prophet Mohammed, including the practice of waging jihad.

Many jihadist movements adhere to and base their ideology on Wahhabism. In addition to serving as the official state religion of Saudi Arabia, Osama Bin Laden and the 9/11 hijackers were adherents to this extremist sect. Al-Qaeda, as well as its sister organizations like <a href="https://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/21335" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hamas and ISIS, all base their ideology and practices on Wahhabism</a>.

Due to her strident defenses of Islam and Wahhabism, Dr. Delong-Bas is a frequent visitor and guest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where she adorns a full burka out of “respect” for Saudi culture.

In an interview with a Saudi newspaper, she denied that any extremist movements in the Middle East had any connection to Islam, but instead argued <a href="https://www.memri.org/reports/american-professor-natana-delong-bas-%E2%80%98i-do-not-find-any-evidence-would-make-me-agree-osama" target="_blank" rel="noopener">that support of Israel is the root cause of terrorism against the West</a>,

“The political conditions in the Islamic world, like the Palestinian issue, which has lasted 60 years, [the issue of] Iraq, and the American government's tying [the hands of] the U.N. [and preventing it] from adopting any resolution against Israel, have definitely added to the Muslim youth's state of frustration, which then pushes them to - as they understand it - help their brothers do away with the aggression against them, in the various Islamic countries”

When the interviewer asked directly whether or not Osama Bin Laden was involved in the terrorist attacks on 9/11, she explicitly denied his involvement, stating that there was “no proof” that he participated in the attack.

<a href="https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/ssw/faculty/faculty-directory/maggi-price.html">Dr. Maggi Price</a> is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at <a href="https://www.bc.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston College</a>. As director of the “<a href="https://www.affirmlab.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Affirm Lab</a>,” she oversees a clinic that provides “affirmative care” to children and teenagers looking to transition genders.   

According to its main page, <a href="https://www.affirmlab.org/research.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the lab lists three “domains” of research,</a> which include: 

- Identifying the unique experiences of youth with 1+ stigmatized identities. 

- Determining how stigmatized youth’s unique experiences affect their mental health and well-being. 

- Identifying methods of improving care for stigmatized youth.

In partnership with the Boston Child Study Center, <a href="https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/schools/ssw/about/bcssw-news/2021/more_young_people_are_coming_out_as_transgender_this_psychologist_wants_to_teach_therapists_how_to_provide_gender_affirming_care.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Price will train 40 psychologists to provide affirmative care to minors suffering from gender dysphoria</a>. The program will further offer directions for counseling parents that wish to allow their children to transition.

The initiative is first being tested in Massachusetts and California. If successful, Dr. Price plans to roll out the program to the rest of the nation and vastly scale the number of psychologists trained. 

Dr. Price is further developing an online training program to support high school students suffering from gender dysphoria. The program is titled “IMPACTS”—Improving Methods of Providing Affirming Care to Transgender Students—and will work to train and equip high school teachers to cater to their trans students.

The center is accepting applicants for its study; dysphoric students as <a href="https://www.affirmlab.org/participate-in-a-study.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">young as 12 are enticed with a $50 gift card per session to participate</a>. 

The lab lists resources for students from LGBTQ-affiliated groups, one is GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network). According to its site, <a href="https://www.glsen.org/develop-supportive-educators" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teachers are coached to use a student’s preferred pronouns</a> and to let trans students play on sports teams according to their gender identity. 

Further <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j5TC692qmuvfE2c5Ps2n8F2iI1YAj3AJfXNDj95-uzE/edit#">resources listed </a>include the “<a href="https://www.blacktranstravelfund.com/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Trans Travel Fund</a>,” “<a href="https://www.emergencyrelease.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emergency Release,</a>” and the “<a href="https://www.massbailfund.org/about.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Massachusetts Bail Fund</a>.” The latter drew controversy for posting the $10,000 bail of a man <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/alleged-drug-trafficker-jumps-10k-025400212.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested for trafficking fentanyl and registered sex offenders</a>. 

Listed under its “Old Lab Manual” and “Onboarding Info” are specific instructions for team members, in which employees are <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1El-A7EBuDeqZOgubhCRFvUYeEtMosKCd/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“strongly encouraged” to attend bi-weekly antiracism </a>training. 

Dr. Price’s work is currently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, which<a href="https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/schools/ssw/about/bcssw-news/2021/more_young_people_are_coming_out_as_transgender_this_psychologist_wants_to_teach_therapists_how_to_provide_gender_affirming_care.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> awarded the Affrim Lab $775,000 as part of a 4-year grant</a>.

<a href="https://www.bu.edu/ssw/profile/phillipe-copeland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Phillipe Copeland</a> is a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston University’s School of Social Work. His specialties include “Theories of Justice, Racial Justice,” “Black Lives Matter” and “Abolition of Mass Incarceration.”

Copeland also serves as a faculty lead for education and training at the <a href="https://www.bu.edu/antiracism-center/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston University Center for Antiracist Research</a>. The Center’s mission is to “convene researchers and practitioners from various disciplines to figure out novel and practical ways to understand, explain and solve seemingly intractable problems of racial inequality and injustice.”

Copeland <a href="https://youtu.be/CWnHNPFrtIA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared on City Line</a> to provide commentary on why Americans should be talking more about racism in popular culture. Copeland said:

“...[W]e can really think of pop culture as another kind of classroom….And so what we see, what we hear, what we experience through pop culture…can shape our perceptions of ourselves, the world, and the problems that we need to solve—problems like racism.”

During the interview, Copeland shared “The Copeland Test”—a test he developed that allegedly detects antiracist themes in movies and TV shows. The assessment includes the following three categories:

 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">People of color are not stereotyped or victims</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">White people working in solidarity with people of color</li>
</ul>
Copeland explained:

“Often people believe that racism is just a matter of blatant acts by whites of bigotry, discrimination or hatred. Sometimes racism looks like that. But sometimes it looks like policies or practices or belief systems that have similar effects to discrimination…An example [would be] the many voter suppression laws…[that] make it harder for black people to vote.”

In January 2023, Copeland published an article in the <a href="https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/01/03/opinion/art-denial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boston Globe</a> titled, “The art of denial: How racism deniers obscure the reality of racism, minimizing its significance.” He claims that racism denial is a “political strategy” perpetuated by those who “attempt to convince people racism is no longer an issue.”

Drawing on Ibram X. <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/ciccariello-maher-george.php">Dr. George Ciccariello-Maher</a> is a Visiting Scholar of Decolonizing Humanities and Modern Languages and Literatures at the College of William and Mary. He previously taught in the Department of History and Politics at Drexel University.

From the College of William and Mary's website, his work at the Decolonizing Humanities Project is <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php">described</a> as exploring, “how colonization, modernity, capitalism, and, most recently, neoliberalism has displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being.  Decoloniality reveals “the dark side of modernity” and how it is built “on the backs” of “others.”

Ciccarello first came to notoriety for his racially inflammatory statements on twitter. On Christmas of 2016, he <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/Drexel-officials-Professor-George-Ciccariello-Mahers-White-Genocide-tweet-was-utterly-reprehensible.html">tweeted</a> out,

“All I want for Christmas is White Genocide,”

and,

“To clarify: when the whites were massacred during the Haitian Revolution, that was a  good thing indeed.”

He also tweeted out,

“Some guy gave up his first-class seat for a uniformed soldier. People are thanking him. I’m trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul.”

When Ciccariello was confronted by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkvgmGIQHQ">Tucker Carlson</a> over his tweets, he only proceeded to double-down. In the following exchange, he defended the academic veracity of his tweets by claiming, “performance art is scholarship.”

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from utilizing violence to accomplish his radical beliefs. In an op-ed for <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/05/04/riots_work_wolf_blitzer_and_the_washington_post_completely_missed_the_real_lesson_from_baltimore/">Salon</a>, he praised the riots that had engulfed Baltimore in 2015 in an article titled “Riots Work.” He wrote, “without the threat of insurgency in the streets, no charges would ever have been brought in the murder of Freddie Gray.” Obviously not a proponent of police, Ciccariello openly <a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/24/we_must_disband_the_police_body_cameras_arent_enough_only_radical_change_will_stop_cops_who_kill/">advocates</a> for the abolishment of police forces, describing them as, “originally slavecatchers.”

When not calling for the disbandment of our law enforcement, Ciccariello is an ardent defender of the socialist regime in Venezuela. He regularly <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2013/04/12/thatcher-is-dead-long-live-chavez/">praises</a> Hugo Chavez and has bizarrely <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhYz1owM-uA&amp;feature=youtu.be">claimed</a> that Venezuela does not have corrupt elections.

Ciccariello doesn’t shy away from violent groups as well. In order to fight white-nationalism, Ciccarello called on Americans to embrace the radical group ANTIFA in an interview with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">Democracy Now</a> following the El Paso mass shooting. Although committed by a stated white nationalist, in the same interview Ciccariello placed the blame on Donald Trump for the deaths, claiming that his rhetoric on immigrants inspired the shooter’s rampage.  Ciccariello made similar accusations in a prior <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTv_hqjrmi8&amp;feature=youtu.be">interview</a> about the Texas Church Massacre, alluding that “whiteness” and Trump’s stoking of white victimhood was to blame for the murders.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/americanstudies/graduate/graddirectory/smoot_k.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelsey Smoot</a> is a PH.D. Candidate in American Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary in Virginia.

In June 2020, Smoot penned an article for <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jun/29/white-people-ally-black-people-sacrifice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Guardian</a> titled, “White people say they want to be an ally to Black people. But are they ready for sacrifice?” In the piece, she argues that white Americans are unwilling to change any of their behaviors or attitudes in a way that would benefit black people. 

The piece was written in the midst of nationwide riots following George Floyd's death. While acknowledging that many of her white friends reached out to offer money and protect her “energy and emotional labor,” Smoot still accuses whites of silence, and therefore compliance, regarding white supremacy: 
“Unfortunately, good deeds will not dismantle systemic oppression. White kindness was unable to spare the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, nor any of the countless other victims of White supremacy in our nation’s history.”
If whites wanted to perform true anti-racist work, Smoot argues, they should be willing to sacrifice future pay raises and close friendships for people of color: 
“Real allyship enacted by White Americans, with a clear objective to make equitable the lived experiences of individuals across racial lines, means a willingness to lose things….Refusing a pay raise at one’s job and insisting that it be reallocated to co-workers of color who are undoubtedly being underpaid. The loss of potentially every close relationship with other White friends and family members who refuse to acknowledge or amend their behaviors that reinforce systemic oppression.”
Smoot concludes that white people will never be willing to sacrifice their privilege, so all she can do is “prepare for another day of navigating White America.”

In another article written from that summer, Smoot <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/04/juneteenth-not-the-fourth-of-july-was-the-real-independence-day">announces that she will no longer celebrate the Fourth of July</a>, as it represents an “exclusionary nationalist narrative.” Smoot writes that in adulthood, the idea of the holiday became “untenable” once she learned of America’s oppressive history:
“But as I moved into adulthood, learned the expansive and ongoing history of American imperialism, experienced blatant racism, homophobia, and transphobia, and internalized that my ancestors were held in bondage and considered chattel far beyond the date and year that I was supposed to consider the demarcation of American “freedom”, the idea of celebrating the holiday became untenable.”
Smoot further writes that she cannot celebrate America’s birth as she may be martyred in its current climate:
“In this current climate, as a Black American who is also queer and trans* identified, there is not a day that goes by when I don’t feel fear….I fear that my name might become a hashtag – my death made a viral internet sensation by onlookers recording my final breaths, as my life is taken by someone who swore to serve and protect me.” 
Smoot—<a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who identifies as a “Black, queer, trans-masculine, and non-binary writer</a>”—has even shunned close family members and friends who incorrectly used her pronouns (they-them). In an article written for <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/misgendering-they-them-pronouns-nonbinary_n_6269a65de4b01131b11e407e">HuffPost</a>, Smoot states that she is becoming increasingly intolerant of anyone mistakenly misgendering him, claiming that refusing to do so nullifies her identity. Acknowledging that she will lose the people closest to him, Smoot concludes this is still the proper course of action as “trans and nonbinary people are worth the effort.”

According to her biography, Smoot's research interests encompass “queer studies, race/racism, cultural studies, and social movements.” Smoot further blogs and writes poetry on her personal site, <a href="https://queerinsomniac.me/blog" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Queer Insomniac’s Musings</a>.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/faculty/sheehi-s.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stephen Sheehi</a> is the Sultan Qaboos Eminent Professor of Middle East Studies at the College of William &amp; Mary. Dr. Sheehi also serves as the Faculty Director of the “Decolonizing Humanities Project.”

Although his position falls under the Humanities Department, the <a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official site for the project</a> states the field should not have to justify its “economic or practical values in higher education.” Rather, Sheehi argues that humanities are used for “tooling” students to participate in “irredeemable,” racist systems that perpetuate inequality: 

“The Decolonizing Humanities Project understands that the Humanities are structured by and complicit with the legacies of racism, sexism, patriarchy, settler-colonialism and colonialism.” 

Sheehi then accuses America of being built on land stolen from Native Americans.  The university, he claims, likewise continues to benefit from the labor of “kidnapped and enslaved Africans:”

“Decolonizing Humanities Project seeks to dismantle forms of settler-colonialism and racism, with special attention to anti-black and anti-indigenous racism, and how they continue to structure our lives in the university, Virginia, and the settler-colonial state now known as the United States.“

Sheehi states that higher education further perpetuates racial capitalism in the “settler colonial state known as the United States.” He vows to dismantle settler colonialism and capitalism through a process known as “decoloniality.” 

Under the tab, “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/decoloniality/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What is Decoloniality?</a>” Sheehi defines it as the study of the “matrix” of power and oppression created by colonialism. He then claims that colonialism’s effects can still be felt today as modern society was “built on the backs of others.” 

Decoloniality reveals "the dark side of modernity" and how it is built "on the backs" of "others," others that modernity racializes, erases, and/or objectifies. 

Continuing:

“(Decolonialism is) a way to explore colonization, settler-colonialism, racial capitalism (particularly as it grew out, in full racializing force,  with the enslavement of black Africans), modernity, and, most recently, neoliberalism and necrocapitalism and the ways in which they have displaced an array of modes of living, thinking and being in our natural world.”

Dr. Sheehi concludes by calling for the disruption of “settler-colonial logic” and decentering of “hetero-cisnormativity, gender hierarchies, and racial privilege.” 

The web page further lists a myriad of radical groups under the “<a href="https://www.wm.edu/sites/dhp/resources/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resources</a>” column. One of them—titled, “DecolonizeThisPlace,”—is a violent, Antifa-aligned organization that is led by professor <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/aminhusain" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Amin Hussein</a>. A 2020 riot by the group resulted in 13 arrests and $100,000 in damages.

<a href="https://www.wm.edu/as/english/facultystaff/tsai_a.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Addie Tsai</a> is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English in the Arts &amp; Sciences department at the College of William and Mary. His “Areas of Specialization” include “Dance Studies,” “Masculinities Studies,” “Black Studies, “Gender Studies” and “Queer Studies.”

After the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack against Israel, Tsai was featured in <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article/while-universities-refuse-to-fire-anti-semites-the-private-sector-holds-them-accountable/24277" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> after adding his signature to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oU0LTAsKiGOMxfXnKcxpw-GJV6w5uiMP/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an open statement</a> that said:
“We are writers who unequivocally stand with Palestine and its fight for liberation against the illegal occupation of Israel and the violent settler colonial apartheid state. We strongly condemn the response of [W]estern media and political actors at all levels of government in their dissemination of misinformation and propaganda, intended to manufacture consent for the genocide of Palestinian people.”
The statement goes on to say:
“Islamophobic, genocidal, anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian rhetoric are all rooted in the languages we use. It is our responsibility to lay bare how language has been used to obscure and preserve the ongoing settler colonial project outside Gaza…”
The signatories' list of political declarations includes:
<ul>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“The resistance is an ongoing response to a long history of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians” and </li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Politicians at all levels of government internationally, primarily those in the [W]est, are deliberately weaponizing islamophobia and orientalist language in order to manufacture consent for genocide in Palestine.” </li>

Author Austin Channing Brown writes, “White people are exhausting” in the first line of the book, and has expressed how she <a href="https://religionnews.com/2018/05/09/white-people-are-exhausting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">very purposefully chose those words</a> to address her audience. Brown has suggested in prior interviews that white people <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzuWlU9Llnc&amp;ab_channel=TrinityChurchWallStreet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">can only call themselves Christians if they reject their whiteness</a>.

<a href="https://www.law.upenn.edu/cf/faculty/raustin/">Regina Austin</a>, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, is a chief indoctrinator. <a href="https://www.law.upenn.edu/faculty/caralm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cara McClellan</a> is the Founding Director and Practice Associate Professor of the Advocacy for Racial and Civil (ARC) Justice Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.

The <a href="https://www.law.upenn.edu/clinic/arc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ARC Justice Clinic</a> “provides students with hands-on experience working in civil rights litigation and policy advocacy in the Philadelphia region using a movement lawyering approach.” According to <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=21584" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, the “theory of movement lawyering” is an “activist-oriented approach to the legal profession.”

A 2021 article posted to the <a href="https://www.americanbar.org/groups/crsj/publications/human_rights_magazine_home/civil-rights-reimagining-policing/movement-lawyering-in-moments-of-crisis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American Bar Association’s website</a> says movement lawyering means “building the power of the people, not the power of the law.” The article also suggests, “support is needed as people take to the streets and hold spaces to collectively heal and as we work over the long haul to dismantle systems of oppressions, including white supremacy, cis-heteropatriarchy, and capitalism in our country.”

Similarly, Harvard University released a “<a href="https://hls.harvard.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/MovementLawyeringReadingGuide.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Movement Lawyering Reading Guide</a>” in 2013 that refers to the approach as “revolutionary lawyering” and “social justice lawyering.”

The ARC Justice Clinic “provides legal support to community members in the Philadelphia region organizing to demand redress for racial subordination in areas including education, ending over-policing and mass incarceration, economic justice, and health justice.” The website also says students will be directly supervised by Professor McClellan and will represent clients in litigation at the trial.

The clinic also offers bi-weekly seminars that “covers the substantive law at issue in their casework, foundational litigation skills, theory of movement lawyering, and ethical considerations important to social justice advocacy.”

Professor McClellan told the <a href="https://www.thedp.com/article/2023/03/penn-law-arc-clinic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Penn</a> the clinic’s vision is to “advocate for social justice by supporting the goals of its partners and clients, particularly in providing economic prosperity and equal access to resources.” She added, “This is an urgent time in our country to discuss systemic issues like racism, institutional racism, and inequity.”

McClellan said the clinic allows students to ask questions about political and legal practices saying, “People are beginning to ask how can law be used to interrupt systems of inequality. How can we promote the practice of anti-racist lawyering?”

Professor McClellan has also been outspoken on her belief about the need for affirmative action policies in university admissions. In an interview with <a href="https://penntoday.upenn.edu/news/penn-carey-law-case-affirmative-action" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Penn Today</a>, McClellan said, “the effects of systemic racism are still felt today.” She argues ending affirmative action policies would make it harder for minorities to attend college because “segregation and racial inequity remains pervasive in K-12 education, creating an unequal playing field when students apply to college.”

She claims “affirmative action policies benefit all students” and concludes by saying:
“Colleges and universities cannot fulfill their educational missions without cultivating diversity, including racial diversity.”

In a course-wide email sent to his students, Dr. Miller threatened to reduce the grade of any student that did not announce their pronouns.
In the email—obtained by the Twitter handle, <a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Libs of Tik Tok</a>—Dr. Miller informs students that they are required to list their preferred gender pronouns when submitting their next assignment. He further warns that failure to do so will result in a reduction of their grade.
“I added a new syllabus to Brightspace and the one major change we all need to take note of is that all are required to include their pronouns next to their name in their blog posts. I will count this toward your grade when I check for your name each time I grade the blogs.”

According to her <a href="https://bellarmine.lmu.edu/psychology/research/parc/ourteam/cherylgrillsphd/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a>, Cheryl Grills is “a Clinical Psychologist with a current emphasis in Community Psychology…[and] a tenured, Full Professor in the Psychology [Department]” at the University of Loyola &#8211; Marymount.
Grills is a proponent of reparations being granted to living African Americans due to the enslavement of African Americans in the United States before the Emancipation Proclamation (1863). In January of 2022, Grills was appointed to the <a href="https://reparationscomm.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC)</a>. In her <a href="https://reparationscomm.org/naarc-news/press-releases/dr-cheryl-grills-appointed-to-national-reparations-commission/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acceptance statement</a>, she made the following comments:
“I am my ancestors’ wildest dreams making reparations both a personal and professional matter. The work of unveiling, decolonizing and redressing the history of our enslavement and post enslavement oppression in America is long overdue.”
Continuing, she said:  
“Doing the work of reparations brings several opportunities including helping us as Black people change how we as a community understand where we are (in the tapestry of American life), how we got here (interpreting our personal and collective stories), and where we want to go (unencumbered by the weight of racism and the anti-Black narrative that dominates this society).”
In conclusion, Grills stated:
 “This is an all-hands-on deck call for ubuntu (community) and sawubona (truly seeing each other free of the lies of White superiority and Black inferiority). It is an honor to serve as a commissioner on the NAARC bringing the tools of psychology to the reparations discourse to ensure that our mental health and well-being as individuals and as a community are a central part of the process of repair.” 
Grills was president of the <a href="https://abpsi.site-ym.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American Association of Black Psychologists</a> from 2011 to 2013. In an article titled <a href="https://dignityinschools.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Grills_Article.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“African Psychology,”</a> Grills touches on other metaphysical subjects. She defines “African-centered psychology [as] the dynamic manifestation of unifying African principles, values and traditions…African-Centered psychology examines the process that allows for the illumination and liberation of the spirit.”
In the <a href="https://www.ul.ac.za/application/downloads/Grills%20African%20Psychology%20Keynote.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abstract</a> to a keynote on African psychology, Grills made the following claim: 
“​​Western Psychology grounded, in its own paradigmatic preconceptions and assumptions, has usurped authority over the province of psychology. In so doing, it has dramatically limited, on a global scale, “acceptable” questions, methods, and  evidence on matters of human behavior and ontology.” 
According to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-reparations-task-force-member-complains-preoccupation-800b-price-tag-least-important" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>, in the Spring of 2023 Grills complained about the media’s concern with the $800 billion dollar reparation amount <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/reparations-black-californians-top-800-billion-rcna77160" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed</a> for African Americans in California:
&#8220;We want to make sure that this is presented out in a way that does not reinforce the preoccupation with a dollar figure, which is the least important piece of this. It’s important, but it’s the least important in terms of being able to get to a point in our country’s history and in California’s history where we recognize that the harm cuts across multiple areas and domains and that the repair needs to align with that. It’s really unfortunate. I’m actually sad to see that our news media is not able to nuance better. It’s almost like, ‘What’s going to be sensational’ as opposed to what’s important.&#8221;
