Jenn Jackson

Syracuse University

Jenn Jackson is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and a Senior Research Associate at the Campbell Public Affairs Institute at Syracuse University. According to her university biography, Jackson’s research and teachings are focused on “black politics, gender and sexuality, political behavior, public opinion, and mixed methods.”

During the rioting that followed in the wake of George Floyd’s Death, Professor Jackson described police officers on her Twitter account as “employed in an institution meant to eradicate Blackness.” She wrote:

the “goodness” of cops is unimportant. They are employed in an institution meant to eradicate Blackness. The philosophical principles of being a police officer are racist and anti-Black. They are required to do terrible things.”

As reported by Campus Reform, Jackson also defended rioters’ vandalism and looting, describing it as a justified response to “white supremacy.”
