<a href="https://www.law.ou.edu/directory/steven-j-cleveland" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Steven J Cleveland</a> is the Alfred P. Murrah Professor of Law and Thomas P. Hester Presidential Professor at the<a href="https://law.ou.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> College of Law at the University of Oklahoma (OU</a>).
During the 2022 Spring Semester, the University of Oklahoma implemented strict mandates on students and faculty to limit the spread of COVID-19. Dr. Cleveland is currently enforcing these policies in his classroom to such an extreme extent that students are threatened with being removed from class and reported to the Dean of the school for not wearing a mask.
Upon returning for the Spring 2022 semester, students were informed by <a href="https://www.normantranscript.com/news/ou-requiring-masks-for-first-two-weeks-of-classes/article_704a7026-723a-11ec-aa7b-139ccc6f40da.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the university’s administration they will be forced to wear face masks</a> in classroom settings until February 1 when masks will then become<a href="https://www.ou.edu/together/campus-protocols/spring-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> strongly recommended.</a>
This mandate is in direct contradiction with Oklahoma state law. In May of 2021, Governor Kevin Stitt <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/05/29/oklahoma-gov-kevin-stitt-bars-agencies-mask-vaccination-mandates/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banned any state agency or building–including public universities–from requiring either a mask or vaccination status for entry</a>.
Nevertheless, professors at OU are still enforcing mask mandates and threatening to penalize students who do not comply with the restrictions. In communications reviewed by the Professor Watchlist team, professors are removing maskless students from class and threatening their grades due to the forced absences. Others refuse to even meet with students who are unvaccinated and will report unmasked students to their respective Dean.
One student, Alyssa Amundsen, vowed to defy the university mandates. She emailed each of her professors in the law school explaining that she would not wear a mask in class under any circumstance. While some professors were accommodating, many were not, and refused to allow her to attend in person.
Dr Cleveland was the most resistant to grant any exemptions. Amundsen was barred from attending class despite obtaining a medical exemption from wearing a mask last year from her doctor.
Amundsen emailed Dr. Cleveland to ask if she could attend class without a mask. Dr. Cleveland immediately refused her request and threatened to report her to the Dean of the Law School if she made a maskless appearance.

Amundsen then offered to take the class remotely via ZOOM since the course is already recorded for students who are absent due to COVID. Despite this, Dr. Cleveland again refused, stating that “taking a stand for her beliefs has consequences.”

n a follow-up conversation with two Deans of the law school—Dr. Steven Gensler and Dr. Kathleene Guzman—Amundsen was still adamant to reach a compromise. Both told her there is no recourse she and can only attend in-person classes while wearing a mask per university rules. She was eventually forced to drop the class or risk having her grade reduced due to her absences.
While an injunction has been placed on Governor Stitt’s executive order, the Judge <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/oklahoma-school-mask-mandate-ban-blocked-exemptions-79769836" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled that schools must include an “opt-out.” So far, OU has provided no such opt-out</a> for students and staff.
The Professor Watchlist team has reached out to Dr. Cleveland but has not received a reply by the time of publication.

Following publication, the Professor Watchlist team has received the following statement from Mackenzie Scheer, Director of Media Relations at the University of Oklahoma, in regards to our inquiry.
&#8220;Since the onset of the pandemic, OU has sought to implement protocols that will protect our community, while also allowing for our in-person experience to continue. Given the transmission rate of Omicron and supply chain issues around testing, OU instituted a temporary addendum to its existing masking policy, requiring masking in all classrooms through Jan. 31. Beginning Feb. 1, the university reverted to its Fall 2021 masking guidance that expects masking in the classroom and requires masking for a two-week quarantine period when a confirmed positive COVID-19 case in the class is identified. While the university does not grant exemptions, it does evaluate requests for accommodations in certain cases. Students in need of accommodations due to health or religious reasons were instructed by law school administrators to contact the <a href="mailto:OU%20Accessibility%20and%20Disability%20Resource%20Center" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OU Accessibility and Disability Resource Center</a> at <a href="mailto:adrc@ou.edu" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adrc@ou.edu</a> or (405) 325-3852. All accommodation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis after considering each individual’s circumstance and in accordance with all applicable laws. Kelli Alvarez is an <a href="https://www.ou.edu/cas/fyc/people/faculty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Teaching Professor</a> at the University of Oklahoma. Her areas of interest include race and ethnicity in literature and film as well as indigenous and other ethnic literature. Alvarez teaches freshman-level courses, including English Composition, where she requires all students to read a publication by Professor Watchlist identified <a href="https://professorwatchlist.org/professor/ibramxkendi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ibram X. Kendi</a> titled, “When Free Speech Becomes Unfree Speech.”

When Alvarez isn’t teaching first-year composition courses, she is <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/07/classroom-censorship-comes-to-the-university-of-oklahoma/">leading workshops</a> for fellow teachers and professors on “anti-racist rhetoric &amp; pedagogies.” Over the summer of 2021, Alvarez led a classroom censorship workshop discussing how to “set an anti-racist tone” in the classroom and ultimately silence certain students. During the workshop, she discussed how particular students are emboldened to be overly racist in the classroom, both in-person and through their writing. She said that while some teachers may be afraid to tell students they can’t say something in class, teachers absolutely have the right to tell students to be quiet and stop talking.

Alvarez goes on to claim that the Supreme Court ruled that hate speech is not protected by the U.S. Constitution. She states, “the Supreme Court has actually upheld that hate speech, derogatory speech, any of the -isms do not apply in the classroom because they do not foster a productive learning environment.”

According to <a href="https://www.freedomforuminstitute.org/about/faq/what-rights-to-freedom-of-expression-do-students-have/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Freedom Forum Institute</a>, The Supreme Court ruled in Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District (1969) that students “do not shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech and expression at the schoolhouse gate.”

Later in the lecture, Alvarez discusses a concept called “white institutional defensiveness,” which she describes as conditions that force non-white students to conform and assimilate to whiteness or else risk consequences. Alvarez asserts that not allowing non-white students to write in ABE style (Adult Basic Education) is racist and perpetuating white supremacy.

According to her university profile, her research and teaching interests consist of African American, Afro-Caribbean, and Black African literary and cultural studies; such as the Harlem Renaissance, Black Arts/Black Power, Afro-Caribbean literature, and postcolonial African cinema.

She has also authored many publications, such as:

Keresztesi’s <a href="https://fulbrightscholars.org/sites/default/files/documents/A6-Keresztesi-Rita-CV.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">curriculum vitae</a> shows that ENGL 4333 Black Arts/Black Power is one of the many courses she has taught in the English Department. According to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/university-of-oklahoma-english-course-to-focus-on-black-power/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>, The University of Oklahoma offered an English course (Spring, 2022) led by Keresztesi that focused on “Black Power.” An <a href="https://www.ou.edu/cas/english/academics/courses/catalogue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online description</a> says that the course focused on the “cultural and political agendas of the “Black Arts” and “Black Power” movement from the 1960s to today with an emphasis on progressive agendas such as “the rise of the Prison-Industrial Complex and the #BlackLivesMatter movement…”

As stated in The College Fix, “Tamera Nealy, a student at the University of Oklahoma, said she believes the course sounds like it may be taught in a divisive manner and add to racial unrest on campus.”

<a href="https://www.ou.edu/cas/wgs/people/faculty/traci-brynne-voyles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Traci Brynne Voyles</a> is a Professor and Chair of Women’s and Gender Studies at The University of Oklahoma. Her university profile states that she is a “historian of colonialism, race, and environment...” Voyles's research includes the study of North America from the nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries.

Voyles’s new book, <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Settler_Sea/nCtEEAAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Settler Sea: California’s Salton Sea and the Consequences of Colonialism</a> covers a variety of topics on white settlers, oppression, environmental injustice, and more. The text states: “Rather than erasing white settlers’ relationships to (and oppression of) other non-Native people of color, those relationships of enslavement, racialized labor, and criminalization on an ‘inherited background field’ of Native dispossession…. (44) In its most fundamental formulation, environmental injustice occurs when people who are marginalized by racism, classism, settler colonialism, or heteropatriarchy are disproportionately targeted to bear the burdens of environmental harm. (45)” 

Another one of her publications, <a href="https://borderlandshistory.org/2016/06/14/cfp-not-just-green-not-just-white-race-justice-and-environmental-history/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Not Just Green, Not Just White: Race, Justice, and Environmental History</a> (with Mary E. Mendoza) reads: “Race is a critical component to the study of environmental injustice, but environmental history, until very recently, has tended to leave out questions of race.”

A third publication is titled <a href="https://nyupress.org/9781479894567/sustainability/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Man Destroys Nature? Gender, History, and the Feminist Praxis of Situating Sustainabilities.” In Sustainability: Approaches to Environmental Justice and Social Power</a> (edited by Julie Sze, 196–215. New York: New York University Press, 2018. 19 pages.) This text is a “critical resource for approaching sustainability across the disciplines[.]”

In a Q&amp;A conducted by <a href="https://edgeeffects.net/traci-brynne-voyles-anti-vaccination/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Edge Effects</a>, Voyles talks about environmentalism, white supremacy, racism, and more. She states:
“But my research showed that it is also deeply racist.  In fact, the notion of pure and unpolluted white bodies is a key part of how environmental racism proceeds. The protection of purity from any kind of contamination has been a mechanism by which toxins are diverted into nonwhite spaces and how this distributional injustice is rationalized as common sense…”

<a href="https://www.ou.edu/cas/psc/faculty/shortle" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Allyson Shortle</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at The University of Oklahoma. According to Shortle’s <a href="http://www.allysonshortle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>, her research “examines group identity dynamics in the context of American political behavior.” 

Her recent projects consist of “the nexus of race, nationalism, and political behavior.” On her website, she states, “I also often examine the race-gendered dynamics of criminal justice attitudes using experimental methods.”

The article “argue[s] that religion affects immigration attitudes via a distinct religiously informed interpretation of America’s national identity, which we call Christian nationalism. Using social identity complexity theory, we argue that citizens who ascribe to this worldview should be least tolerant of those they perceive as symbolic threats to American national identity.”</li>

<a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/christian-nationalism-threatens-democracy-experts/story?id=91866475" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News</a> asks Shortle: What does Christian nationalism mean for American democracy?
"I think democracy is on the line here as a result of the threats from Christian nationalism ... yes, it's a minority ideology, but we don't see a lot of opposition to it," she states.
Additionally, in an interview with <a href="https://www.kgou.org/show/capitol-insider/2022-08-26/rise-of-christian-nationalism-influences-political-discourse-and-elections-in-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KGOU News</a>, Shortle states: 
“Well, in my own research, I've definitely found higher rates of white Christian Nationalism in Oklahoma than other parts of the country. So, using some Oklahoma nonprofit survey collectors through places like Sooner Poll, for instance, I found higher rates than when I run a national poll asking the same metrics of white Christian Nationalism. And not just how you define American identity, but also these particular myths of American religious exceptionalism that people adhere to - that America is God's chosen nation, for instance, America was picked by God to lead all other countries. These are American exceptionalist ideals, but they're also ideals that Christian Nationalists use to maybe speak to other Christian Nationalists without others knowing. Right?”

In Spring 2023, Dr. Schroeder will be teaching a new course, “Sex, Gender, and Early Christianities” (WGS 3463). Angela Putman

<a href="https://www.brandywine.psu.edu/person/angela-putman">Ms. Angela Putman</a> is an Assistant Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences at Pennsylvania State University at Brandywine. According to her university biography, Professor Putman describes herself as a “critical intercultural scholar.” Her biography states that she is interested in “whiteness as an ideology” and “institutional/systemic racism”, and encourages her students to promote and practice “social justice.”
Ms. Putman completed her dissertation at the University of New Mexico, titled, <a href="https://digitalrepository.unm.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1046&amp;context=cj_etds">“Interrupting the Silence: A Critical Discourse Analysis of a Pilot Seminar on Racism, Intersectionality, and White Privilege.”</a> The paper is based on a seminar that she created in order to teach college students about dismantling white privilege in their own lives.
Ms. Putman’s stated goal was to help her students “strengthen their understanding of systemic racism and white privilege and also provide them with useful strategies for confronting and disrupting white privilege in their lives, relationships, groups, and organizations.”
In the dissertation, Ms. Putman outlines the various ideas and beliefs that she states are products of “white privilege,” including the ideas of America as a meritocracy, color-blindness, and individualism.

According to her university profile, she “teaches graduate-level courses in integrated marketing, digital and social media, media relations, corporate communications and more.”
In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzjy8qMUNi4">program</a> for the Dr. Phil Show, Gambrell was consulted for her opinions on censorship and the effect of “offensive” tweets on a person’s job.

Responding to Dr. Phil’s question about the censorship of “hate speech,” Gambrell stated: 
“I am extremely in favor of the First Amendment…but we have seen things that happen when social media is not censored…where there’s negativity there should be censorship.” She cited what she deemed were instances of racist, homophobic, and other types of “nasty” behavior recorded on social media posts, but gave no examples.
Gambrell believes that, “In certain instances where [a social media post is] harmful, in certain instances where it can hurt people, where there’s negative intent, there should be censorship.” 
The NYU professor — who formerly held jobs in U.S. media — went on to say she feels satisfaction when users of hate speech lose their jobs because of what they posted on social media:
“In some instances where I see viral videos where someone is clearly racist or homophobic or anything nasty and then the video goes viral, they lose their job, I’m like ‘score’ because that person does not deserve to have this title which can impact certain communities, they need to work on themselves.”
Gambrell’s <a href="https://www.giftofgabrielle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> states that she is “a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion,” which are also problems she seeks to solve through “e​​xecutive, corporate and brand consulting services.”

<a href="https://med.nyu.edu/faculty/arthur-l-caplan">Arthur Caplan</a> is the Dr. William F. and Virginia Connolly Mitty Professor of Bioethics at New York University (NYU) and Director of the Division of Medical Ethics at NYU.

Censorship
As <a href="http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=6690">reported</a> by Campus Reform, Caplan compares Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign to the rise of Adolf Hitler.

In the weeks following Donald Trump’s <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trump-announces-2016-presidential-campaign-make-country/story?id=31799741">announcement</a> that he would seek the 2016 Republican nomination, Caplan writes in <a href="https://www.poynter.org/reporting-editing/2015/commentary-the-danger-of-laughing-at-donald-trump/">Poynter, </a> a non-profit journalism and research center, that news organizations must hold Trump and the Republican party accountable “for the damage [Trump] does.” Caplan characterizes Trump’s views as racist and legitimizing of those American citizens who fear changing demographics.

While acknowledging that he views Trump’s chances as winning the nomination for the presidency unlikely, Kaplan draws parallels between Trump's campaign and the unexpected rise of Hitler in Germany.

Caplan further states in the same article that Trump is dangerous and that his speech is a classic ploy to generate fear and sow divisiveness.  Caplan urges journalists to treat more seriously the “danger” that Trump poses. Caplan accuses Trump of characterizing Mexicans as being criminals, rapists, and carrying diseases. Caplan says that these characterizations are similar to the rhetorical tactics used by the Nazi party against the Jews.

Despite his comparisons of Trump to Hitler, Caplan <a href="http://www.bioethics.net/2005/07/misusing-the-nazi-analogy/">argued</a> against the use of Nazi analogies to describe other people or political movements. In an article for bioethics.net, Caplan <a href="http://www.bioethics.net/2005/07/misusing-the-nazi-analogy/">states</a> that often those who draw analogies in arguments to Nazis, “do not know what they are talking about.”

In the same article, Kaplan states that it is “ethically incumbent” on those who use these analogies to understand the history behind the Nazis, and not to diminish the horror of their atrocities. Kaplan describes the “cavalier” use of these analogies as “unethical.”

<a href="http://gallatin.nyu.edu/people/faculty/flr207.html">Dr. Frank Roberts</a>, a professor at New York University, warned of “Jewish elites” controlling the media, a favorite trope of anti-Semites.  He tweeted “Its crucial for the public to realize that NBC/MSNBC,The NYTimes,US News &amp; World Report, &amp; the NY Daily News are all owned by Jewish elites” and “Speaking out against Israel's massacre &amp; Jewish elites' monopoly of the American free press is not anti-Semitic. #Gaza, #Flotilla, #OilSpill.”

<a href="http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/faculty/Mark_Crispin_Miller">Dr. Mark Crispin Miller</a>, a professor at New York University warned that President Bush was spreading propaganda in order to form a theocracy in the United States. He also compared Bush to Hitler, saying “All the major war-drives in modern history... in Germany, in the Soviet Union, and in the Middle East -- have been impelled by people who believed that they were at risk, that they were being persecuted, that they faced annihilation. Hitler actually believed that 'world Jewry' threatened Germany, and that his bloody enterprise was a means of self-defense against the Jews. We know all too well that al-Qaeda's people universally regard the Jews and Christians as plotting to wipe out Islam. And the Christo-fascist types now in control of the United States believe that they're the victims of non-Christians."

<a href="https://as.nyu.edu/content/nyu-as/as/faculty/ulrich-c-baer.html">Dr. Ulrich Baer</a> is a Professor of Comparative Literature at New York University. He wrote an editorial in the New York Times supporting the suppression of free speech on college campuses. He claimed "The idea of freedom of speech does not mean a blanket permission to say anything anybody thinks. It means balancing the inherent value of a given view with the obligation to ensure that other members of a given community can participate in discourse as fully recognized members of that community."

<a href="https://gallatin.nyu.edu/people/faculty/amh20.html">Amin Husain</a> is a part-time faculty member at New York University and the Pratt Institute. According to the university’s website, Husain’s work focuses on “resistance and liberation, movement generated theory and practice.”

Husain is also confounded and directs the NYC-based activist group, “<a href="https://decolonizethisplace.org/">Decolonize This Place</a>” (DTP).  According to their website, DTP events center around “Indigenous Struggle, Black Liberation, Free Palestine, Global Wage Workers, and De-Gentrification.”

Husain and DTP are known for their extreme rhetoric and aggressive confrontations with law enforcement. Husain and DTP utilize ANTIFA style-tactics during protests. The <a href="https://decolonizethisplace.org/">homepage</a> of DTP regularly features videos of burning police vehicles.

Prior to the Museum of Natural History’s decision to remove their statue of Theodore Roosevelt, Husain joined a chorus of activists demanding that the statue be removed. DTP itself <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5c5e0c57d86cc9226827c754/t/5ee7ad184833d0007a2078fd/1592241433767/How+To+Take+Down+A+Monument_Poster.jpg">posted</a> a detailed graphic with instructions on toppling statues.

In January, DTP posted the following graphic for an upcoming <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=14391">protest</a> against the NYP. The damage from the protests led by Husain resulted in 13 arrests and over $100,000 in <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/02/15/nyu-professor-founded-anarchist-group-that-attacked-subways-last-month/">damages</a> to the NYC subway system.

As a member of NYC Solidarity With Palestine, Husain is known for using his position to entwine his anti-police and anti-Israel views. Husain projected his radicalism at the June “No To Annexation” rally, hosted by the anti-Israel group <a href="https://www.wolpalestine.com/about">Within Our Lifetimes</a>. Husain can be seen telling the crowd that police "are our enemy" in a video captured by the Middle-East watchdog the <a href="https://www.memri.org/tv/no-to-annexation-anti-israel-rally-abolish-police-israel-american-government-death-to-america">Middle East Research Institute</a>.

<a href="https://as.nyu.edu/content/nyu-as/as/faculty/ruth-ben-ghiat.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Ruth Ben-Ghiat</a> is a Professor of Italian and History at <a href="https://as.nyu.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York University</a>. Her <a href="https://as.nyu.edu/content/nyu-as/as/faculty/ruth-ben-ghiat.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">professional biography lists her as an expert on fascism, authoritarianism, war, propaganda, and Donald Trump.</a> She is the author of the book, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Strongmen-Mussolini-Present-Ruth-Ben-Ghiat/dp/1324001542" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Strongman: From Mussolini to the Present</a>,” and frequently makes appearances on CNN and MSNBC.

Dr. Ben-Ghiat frequently criticizes conservatives, characterizing them as violent and an outright threat to democracy. She additionally alleges that supporters of the second-amendment birthed a culture that directly resulted in the January 6th “insurrection.”

In an article for CNN—titled, “Parental control is a smokescreen tactic for right-wing activists”—Dr. Ben-Ghiat <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/14/opinions/parental-control-smoke-screen-right-wing-activists-ben-ghiat/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denounces parents who object to COVID-19 restrictions in schools</a>.

She is referring to <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/orange-county-parents-protest-vaccine-mandates-at-school-board-meeting/ar-AAPZFid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nation-wide protests occurring at county and district school boards</a>. Peaking during the Fall 2021 semester, parents with <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/education/2021/11/03/virginia-parents-democrats-crt-transgender-policies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">school-age children are vocally objecting to mandatory masking, COVID-19 vaccinations, and curriculum containing elements of critical race theory.</a> The epicenter of protests against county school boards stemmed from Loudon County, which saw Board Members <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/10/27/loudoun-county-parents-demand-resignations-over-sexual-assault/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allegedly participate in a cover-up of a sexual assault in a local high school.</a>

Dr. Ben-Ghiat describes these parents as elements of the “authoritarian culture” that is eroding democracy. She specifically cites their opposition to mandatory masking and vaccination of children, alleging it stems from a “Q-Anon” belief.

She states that “anti-vaccine militants” and “white-christian evangelicals” are using “parental rights” as a smokescreen to abolish private education. She decries parents allegedly “censoring” books that would teach children about the “centrality of racism and slavery” to this country’s founding. She further criticizes calls for parental control in education, describing it as the installation of “authoritarian culture” in towns and local school boards.

In a separate article for the Washington Post—titled,”<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/10/26/gun-violence-authoritarianism-normalization/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">America’s Gun Culture is Priming Us for Authoritarianism</a>,”—Dr. Ben-Ghiat alleges the Capitol Riots are the inevitable result of an armed citizenry.

She is referring to the incident surrounding January 6, 2021 at the Capital <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/02/09/965472049/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in which a number of protestors breached the Capitol’s Doors during certification of the 2020 Presidential Election</a>, some violently so. Despite claims to the contrary, even the FBI has determined that <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/fbi-confirms-there-was-no-insurrection-on-january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence exists that any rioters coordinated to commit an “insurrection.</a>”

Dr. Ben-Ghiat alleges that general access to lethal weapons enables “mass death” and a “democratic decline” in America. She bizarrely connects the January 6th “insurrection” to civilian ownership of firearms, alleging the later enables “mass death” and desensitizes others to human life.

Dr. Ben-Ghiat further alleges that gun owners are willing to harm others in exchange for their freedoms, alleging that no loss of life seems to deter them:

She then connects gun ownership to a rise of fascism in America, alleging that dictators controlled masses through a climate of fear and mass death. She states that gun owners are using this same formula to encourage “fundamentalist and cult ideologies'':

<a href="https://its.law.nyu.edu/facultyprofiles/index.cfm?fuseaction=profile.overview&amp;personid=47170" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deborah Archer</a> is a Professor of Clinical Law and Co-Faculty Director of the Center on Race, Inequity, and the law at NYU School of Law. Courses taught by Archer include the titles “Race and Inequality Colloquium”, “Civil Rights Clinic Seminar”, and “Critical Race Theory Seminar.” The <a href="https://its.law.nyu.edu/courses/description.cfm?id=29639" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description for CRT Seminary</a> says,

“This seminar explores Critical Race Theory, a movement that examines the relationship among race, racism, and the U.S. legal system and the role of law in constructing and upholding racial hierarchy…We will also consider the theoretical promises of CRT, its application to the law, and its practical and theoretical limitations in addressing contemporary legal issues.”

In 2020, Archer published “<a href="https://cdn.vanderbilt.edu/vu-wp0/wp-content/uploads/sites/278/2020/10/19130728/White-Mens-Roads-Through-Black-Mens-Homes-Advancing-Racial-Equity-Through-Highway-Reconstruction.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White Men’s Road Through Black Men’s Homes”: Advancing Racial Equity Through Highway Reconstruction</a>” in the Vanderbilt Law Review. The paper discusses segregated public transportation in the United States prior to Civil Rights reform. Archer’s introduction says,

“The passage of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, popularly known as the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act or the Interstate Highway Act, buoyed both highway construction and the destruction of Black communities. Often under the guise of ‘slum removal,’ federal and state officials' purposes targeted Black communities to make a way for massive highway projects.”

She continued,

“In other communities, the highway spared Black homes but became a permanent racial barrier between white and Black neighborhoods, further entrenching racial segregation and walling off economic opportunities.”

Archer’s efforts and research to end racial segregation continue through the Center on Race, Inequity, and the Law. The Center published a video titled “The Enduring Problem of School Segregation” in which civil rights activists and lawmakers are interviewed regarding the progress of integration in the American education systems.

Leonard <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Future_We_Want/7IYpAgAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">co-authored a book</a> titled “The Future We Want: Radical Solutions for the 21st Century”. In the introduction, she writes,

“The most grotesque feature of the 2016 election is the razor-thin spectrum of solutions proposed by the front runners to a historic set of problems…no viable candidate [offered] any hope for a radically more equal society: the policies on offer would merely mitigate the dire inequality that has been growing since Reagan…The United States is now, in effect, an oligarchy.”

In the chapter Sex Class, she says, 

“Gender currently divides the working class — women’s struggles are often pushed aside as if they are not half the population — but it shouldn’t be central to our struggle, an asset…The first step toward gender justice would require a reexamination of the nuclear family.”

After the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Leonard — who serves as the editor-in-chief for Lux Magazine — published an opinion editorial titled “<a href="https://lux-magazine.com/article/the-next-abortion-strategy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Next Abortion Strategy</a>.” In the opening paragraph, she writes,

“Some part of me laughs as these conservatives grasping for control over women when somewhere, right now, a pregnant person is self-managing an abortion and a hundred Brett Kavanaughs can’t stop it. We’ve always had abortions and we will tomorrow and the next day.”

Leonard was featured in <a href="https://www.yaf.org/news/nyu-hosts-panel-on-sexual-reproductive-justice-featuring-professor-who-defended-violence-against-pro-life-centers-and-universitys-associate-director-of-sexua/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an article from Young America’s Foundation</a> (YAF) after she appeared as a panel member for New York University’s discussion “Sexual &amp; Reproductive Justice.” YAF identified Leonard as a “[defender of] the actions of violent abortion activists following the landmark Dobbs victor in the Supreme Court..”

<a href="https://socialwork.columbia.edu/faculty-research/faculty/adjunct/danielle-elleman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Danielle Elleman</a> is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Columbia School of Social Work, Supervisor of the Bellevue Hospital Victim Services Program, and the Associate Director of New York University’s Center for Sexual and Relationship Respect Services. 

Elleman is a co-host of the Center’s podcast <a href="https://www.nyu.edu/students/health-and-wellness/services/healthy-living/good-sex-at-nyu.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good Sex @ NYU</a>, where guests join her to discuss sexually explicit topics and answer general questions from students on campus. The podcast homepage — which describes the show as “sometimes serious, sometimes funny, always sex-positive” — says,

“We aim to destigmatize conversations around sex and relationships while providing practical information to NYU students and our community. From stories of pleasure to compassionate insights, you’ll hear NYU community members discuss how they feel about their sexual journey, helpful information on the stigma around sex, education, and so much more!”

In October 2022, Elleman was a participant in NYU’s Student Government Association panel discussion on “Reproductive and Sexual Justice.” The session was closed to the general public but the description on Instagram says the event was held “to spread awareness about advocacy motives and initiatives on campus and beyond.”

According to her university profile, she “teaches graduate-level courses in integrated marketing, digital and social media, media relations, corporate communications and more.”

In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzjy8qMUNi4">program</a> for the Dr. Phil Show, Gambrell was consulted for her opinions on censorship and the effect of “offensive” tweets on a person’s job.

Responding to Dr. Phil’s question about the censorship of “hate speech,” Gambrell stated: 

“I am extremely in favor of the First Amendment…but we have seen things that happen when social media is not censored…where there’s negativity there should be censorship.” She cited what she deemed were instances of racist, homophobic, and other types of “nasty” behavior recorded on social media posts, but gave no examples.

Gambrell believes that, “In certain instances where [a social media post is] harmful, in certain instances where it can hurt people, where there’s negative intent, there should be censorship.” 

The NYU professor — who formerly held jobs in U.S. media — went on to say she feels satisfaction when users of hate speech lose their jobs because of what they posted on social media:
“In some instances where I see viral videos where someone is clearly racist or homophobic or anything nasty and then the video goes viral, they lose their job, I’m like ‘score’ because that person does not deserve to have this title which can impact certain communities, they need to work on themselves.”
Gambrell’s <a href="https://www.giftofgabrielle.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> states that she is “a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion,” which are also problems she seeks to solve through “e​​xecutive, corporate and brand consulting services.”

He has tweeted that “The New Republican party - American Terrorist,” and that “The Second Amendment was ratified to preserve slavery.” He has also said that conservative Supreme Court justices are “frat-boy fascists” and that the media has demonized the late socialist dictator, Hugo Chavez.

Cameron Awkward-Rich is an <a href="https://www.umass.edu/wgss/member/cameron-awkward-rich" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, Sexuality Students</a>, in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is also a member of the LGBTQ community and uses the pronouns he/him. 

Awkward-Rich conducts research in the areas of trans/feminist/queer theory, black studies, poetry, and experimental writing to explore transgender aesthetics and cultural production.

Awkward-Rich teaches “<a href="https://www.umass.edu/wgss/sites/default/files/assets/wgss/wgss_393t_-_awkward-rich_cameron_-_reading_transgender.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reading Transgender</a>,” a discussion-based course focusing on contemporary LGBTQ literature. Her course titled “<a href="https://www.umass.edu/wgss/sites/default/files/assets/wgss/297tc_intro_to_trans_studies_syllabus_-_awkward-rich.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Introduction to Transgender Studies</a>” is designed to answer questions such as: “What does trans mean and how has its meaning been shaped by regimes of gender, racism, colonization, ableism, and medical and legal regulations?”

Awkward-Rich is an author and spoken-word artist who <a href="https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cameron+awkward-rich" target="_blank" rel="noopener">uses live monologues to air thoughts</a> on “white privilege,” sexual experiences, and LGBTQ issues. Awkward-Rich also hosts a personal website <a href="https://www.cawkwardrich.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cawkwardrich.com</a> that connects readers to poetry communities.

Awkward-Rich joined another author to read poetry and answer questions in a <a href="https://youtu.be/II_wQSndZpI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">virtual book festival</a>. During the Q&amp;A, an attendee asked about the epigraph in Awkward-Rich’s book “Dispatch” — the inscription addresses <a href="https://encyclopediavirginia.org/entries/notes-on-the-state-of-virginia-1785/#:~:text=Notes%20on%20the%20State%20of%20Virginia%2C%20by%20Thomas%20Jefferson%2C%20is,American%20book%20written%20before%201800." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thomas Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia</a>. 

Awkward-Rich says, “I kept running into [a] quote [of his] over and over again. And at first it was like, obviously this is racist. Dr. Rashida Harrison is an <a href="https://jmc.msu.edu/about/directory/Harrison.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Social Relations and Policy</a> with the James Madison College at Michigan State University (MSU). She teaches courses on social theory, social movements, intersections of Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality, Global Citizenships, and Race and Citizenship.

Penn was recorded complaining in one of his creative writing classes about “dead white Republicans” who “raped his country.” As a student videotaped his rant, Penn antagonized students and asked, “You look like you’re frowning. Are you frowning?”.

Dr. Dorinda Carter Andrews is a <a href="https://education.msu.edu/people/carter-andrews-dorinda/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chairperson and Professor</a> at Michigan State University in the College of Education. Her research interests include racial justice and educational equity. Dr. Andrews has published articles for many media outlets and journals and has given two <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3N23MXsow8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TED Talks</a> in relation to critical race theory and racial gaps in education.

Dr. Andrews alleges conservatives “cry CRT” any time an educator teaches something from America’s history that puts them in a “bad light,” even if it’s true. She goes on to insinuate that conservatives don’t want educators teaching black history at all.

Dr. Andrews is a critical race theorist who pushes anti-white rhetoric in the classroom. In her opinion, racism is so deeply embedded into our education system that students of color have no chance of getting ahead if critical race theory isn’t taught in the classroom. In her eyes, conservatives are only against critical race theory because they fear it paints them in a negative light.

Carla Pfeffer is an <a href="https://socialwork.msu.edu/directory/pfeffer-carla.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associate Professor of Social Work</a> and Director of the Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health at Michigan State University.

Professor Pfeffer is outspoken about her pro-choice beliefs. She was quoted in an MSU Today article titled: <a href="https://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2022/Roe-V-Wade-decision-MSU-experts-discuss" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Roe v. Wade overturned: Michigan State University experts discuss.”</a> Pfeffer stated:
“Consistent governmental inaction in regard to protecting all children from poverty, gun violence, and police violence reveals the hypocrisy of legally restricting abortion. Rather than protecting children, banning abortion is about governmental power and control over marginalized bodies and crass political maneuvering to appease a conservative base.” 
She continued:
“In discussions about the overturn of Roe v. Wade, people who are lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary tend to be left out of the conversation.”
She finished her statement by claiming that members of the LGBTQ community “often face disproportionately higher rates of unintended and unwanted pregnancy” and that abortion access is “critical for ensuring physical and mental health.”

In September 2022, Pfeffer wrote an article for <a href="https://theconversation.com/transgender-men-and-nonbinary-people-are-asked-to-stop-testosterone-therapy-during-pregnancy-but-the-evidence-for-this-guidance-is-still-murky-187672" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Conversation</a> where she argued that transgender men and nonbinary people should not have to stop testosterone therapy while they are pregnant. Although many doctors told Pfeffer that there is “not enough or inconclusive research on supplemental testosterone during pregnancy,” Pfeffer argues that “testosterone therapy is often essential to the mental and physical health” of transgender people.

Pfeffer believes that “careful attention to the physical and mental health and well-being of trans and nonbinary people before, during and after pregnancy is long overdue in medicine” and that:
“Instead of approaching testosterone therapy during pregnancy as a yes/no question or a one-size-fits-all standard, investigating how various dosages of testosterone may affect all stages of pregnancy and chestfeeding could lead to better outcomes for both trans patients and their children.”

Dr. Melissa Fore is a <a href="https://jmc.msu.edu/about/directory/Fore.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the James Madison College Reading and Writing Center</a> at Michigan State University. Dr. Fore teaches in the first-year writing program and is a core faculty member MSU’s Center for Gender in a Global Context.

Dr. Fore’s professor biography states:

The document states that by the end of second grade, students should be able to: list medically accurate names for genitals, define gender, gender identity, and gender role stereotypes, and discuss the range of ways people express gender and how gender role stereotypes may limit behavior.

The document also provides links to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IJ2hD7bECD1gkWoDND5s5sRYG37RYPRf/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested lesson plans.</a> One of these lesson plans, titled “Understanding Our Bodies - The Basics,” tells students that “There are some body parts that mostly just girls have and some parts that mostly just boys have.”

Another lesson plan, titled “Pink, Blue and Purple,” instructs students on gender identity, stating: “You might feel like you are a boy, you might feel like you are a girl. You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts. You might feel like you’re a girl even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘boy’ parts.”

She has also taught courses in unexamined biases and the complex dynamics of power and privilege.
Controversy began when Davary encouraged students from her Intro to Islam class to wear yellow Star of David badges, a widely recognized symbol of the Holocaust, to protest anti-Muslim Rhetoric. 
According to Professor Davary, the badges were meant as a “learning tool” for the students. She stated, “we realize that it is a stark symbol that carries a lot of weight and meaning today not only for the Jews but for humanity.” She added that they wear the badges with “the utmost respect for the memory of the Jewish lives lost.”

She is best known for her New York Times bestselling book titled “<a href="https://www.robindiangelo.com/publications/">White Fragility</a>,” which examines DiAngelo’s belief that all white people have embraced and internalized bigotry in order to protect institutional racism in every aspect of American life.
Robin previously described her all-encompassing view on systemic racism in her article <a href="https://www.robindiangelo.com/publications/">“Nothing to Add,”</a> noting that systematic racism results in the unequal distribution of resources amongst racial groups, essentially defining racism as any and all racial disparities.
She writes, “&#8230;whiteness scholars define racism as encompassing economic, political, social, and cultural structures, actions, and beliefs that systematize and perpetuate an unequal distribution of privileges, resources, and power among white people and people of color.”
DiAngelo states that the unequal distribution of resources is what makes racism an inexorable part of the free market.
“Capitalism is so bound up with racism&#8230;Capitalism is dependent on inequality, on an underclass. If the model is profit over everything else, you’re not going to look at your policies to see what is most racially equitable.”

“I will hold to my last breath that all white people that live in a society whose foundation is white superiority internalize the message of white superiority…”

<a href="https://smea.uw.edu/faculty/cleo-woelfle-erskine-ph-d/">Cleo Wölfle Hazard</a>, P.h.D, is an Assistant Professor for the School of Marine &amp; Environmental Affairs and also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington, Seattle. 

Wölfle Hazard’s university biography states, “As a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow in Feminist Studies at UC Santa Cruz, ze [sic] drew this field experience together with queer, transgender, and Indigenous theory to theorize how river sciences could work against the Manifest Destiny logics that shape settler environmental governance in the Western US.”

Wölfle Hazard’s book <a href="https://water-relations.net/underflows/">Underflows: Queer Trans Ecologies and River Justice</a> (2022), draws “on the idea of underflows—the parts of a river’s flow that can’t be seen, the underground currents that seep through soil or rise from aquifers through cracks in bedrock—Wölfle Hazard elucidates the underflows in river cultures, sciences, and politics where Native nations and marginalized communities fight to protect rivers.”

In writing Underflows, Wölfle Hazard aimed “to show how Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other radical traditions in which queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people have always played key roles are crucial to meeting the intersecting challenges of climate change, settler-colonial legacies of environmental harm, and gendered violence.”

In Underflows Wölfle Hazard claims that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, “police violence and federal inaction amplified suffering in Black and Brown communities.”

According to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/gender-confirmation-surgeries-are-like-ecological-restoration-princeton-hosts-queer-trans-feminist-river-scientist/">The College Fix</a>, in the fall of 2022, Wölfle Hazard gave a <a href="https://environment.princeton.edu/event/environmental-humanities-colloquium-underflows-queer-and-trans-among-rivers/">talk at Princeton University</a> entitled “Underflows: Queer and Trans Among Rivers:”

“In the talk, “Wölfle Hazard compared ‘gender confirmation surgeries’ to ecological restoration, arguing transgender bodies are similar to bodies of water. ‘When I pay my surgeon to cut my penis into a neo-vagina, I am moving toward myself through myself,’ Wölfle Hazard said, quoting gender studies theorist Eva Hayward.”

In 2014, Wölfle Hazard acted as a “salmon oracle” at the Bay Delta Science Conference, an experience which he recalled during his Princeton talk. The College Fix reports that, “Scientists attending the conference would proceed to talk to the salmon. Later, Wölfle Hazard and July Hazard presented the scientists’ responses to actual salmon “by reading, by playing voice recordings underwater, and by dragging written messages behind our canoe.”

<a href="https://gwss.washington.edu/people/kemi-adeyemi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kemi Adeyemi</a> is an Associate Professor of Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies, and Director of The Black Embodiments Studio at the University of Washington. 

According to Adeyemi’s article <a href="https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.14321/qed.4.2.0056#metadata_info_tab_contents" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Donald Trump is the Perfect Man for the Job”</a>, the professor had her class go through an exercise in which she and the students recited the sentence, “Donald Trump is the perfect man for the job [i.e. Presidency].” This exercise took place the day after the 2016 Presidential Election.  Yet, Adeyemi’s understanding of the U.S. president’s role was “continuing the violence that has always been at the very heart of the US.”

In 2022, Adeyemi published a book entitled <a href="https://www.dukeupress.edu/feels-right" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Feels Right: Black Queer Women &amp; the Politics of Partying in Chicago”.</a> The University of Washington’s <a href="https://gwss.washington.edu/research/publications/feels-right" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description for the book</a> states that “feeling good is elusive for black queer women whose nightlives are undercut by white people, heterosexuality, neoliberal capitalism, burnout, and other buzzkills.”

“Feels Right”, according to Adeyemi, “pays particular attention to three sites in which black queer women strategically forge black queer space in the midst of the neoliberal city that severely regulates their modes of thinking, moving, and feeling.” Another quote from the introduction of the book states: “Black queer women’s shared practices of taking pleasure—of singing along to the music, watching people dance (and hyping them up), dancing themselves, and making platonic and sexual connections with one another—articulate their rights to occupy the landscapes of pleasure that the neoliberal city is organized around.”

Adeyemi has also published several other books and articles, among which are “Queer Nightlife”, and “Black/Queer/Women/Lean: Re-Aligning the Disciplinary Function of 90°”.

The description for “Black Feminist Geographies”, a course taught by Adeyemi, states: 

“Stereotypes about blackness, gender, and sexuality are enmeshed with how we think, feel, and move about the landscapes we move through - and black people are often seen threatening presences that "need" to be policed, contained, and completely erased. This course considers how black feminist approaches to geographic space reveal ways that these restrictive understandings of blackness, gender, and sexuality are refused and redefined.”

<a href="https://familymedicine.uw.edu/osher/osher-team/cora-breuner/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Cora Breuner</a> is Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of  Washington. 

According to her Seattle Children’s Hospital profile, Breuner’s “research interests include the evaluation of yoga as an adjunctive intervention for eating disorders, biofeedback for chronic headache and the assessment of complementary medicine for diabetes.” One of her goals “is to incorporate complementary, holistic and integrative medicine into the outpatient and inpatient arenas at Children’s [Hospital].”

According to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/professor-minors-dont-have-agency-to-get-tattoos-but-do-for-gender-affirming-procedures/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>, Breuner “signed on to a 2018 <a href="https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/142/4/e20182162/37381/Ensuring-Comprehensive-Care-and-Support-for?autologincheck=redirected?nfToken=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy statement</a> supporting ‘gender-affirming’ care for transgender/gender-diverse children.” The title of the policy is, “Ensuring Comprehensive Care and Support for Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children and Adolescents.” In the section for “Gender-Affirmative Care”, the policy lays out the following beliefs: 

— “transgender identities and diverse gender expressions do not constitute a mental disorder;”

— “variations in gender identity and expression are normal aspects of human diversity, and binary definitions of gender do not always reflect emerging gender identities;”

— “gender identity evolves as an interplay of biology, development, socialization, and culture; and…”

— “if a mental health issue exists, it most often stems from stigma and negative experiences rather than being intrinsic to the child.”

In an <a href="https://www.npr.org/transcripts/804508548?ft=nprml&amp;f=804508548" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview with NPR</a> titled “What your Teen Wishes You Knew about Sex Education”, Breuner said: 
“Sometimes, parents are actually, interestingly, very excited about this and are happy that their child is exploring other gender or another sexuality. So they actually want the kid to explore things faster than the kid wants to.”
Though Breuner favors “gender-affirmative care” for youth, she thinks that minors should not be legally allowed to get tattoos. The College Fix reports that Breuner thinks “it is time to reconsider various laws regarding tattoos and minors.” There are no federal laws regarding minor tattoos, but such laws are different from state to state. 

In a piece for the <a href="https://archive.ph/jrdrq" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times</a> she explains that minors do not “have that kind of agency to make a decision.”

Breuner has been “Top Doctor” in Seattle nine times from 2014 to 2022.

<a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/contact/directory/people/kumar_rushaan.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rushaan Kumar</a> is an Assistant Professor of Feminist &amp; Gender Studies at Colorado College. According to his university profile, Kumar is the “founder and coordinator of the Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ Oral History Project…” He is also “a board member of the Society for Queer Asian Studies (SQAS).”

Kumar teaches a variety of courses, including LGBTQ Social Movements in the U.S. The course “Conducts interdisciplinary examinations of the development of LGBTQ social movements in the U.S. by linking the context, goals, and outcomes of movements to the dynamics of race, class, gender, sexuality, age, ability, immigration status, and geography.”

Kumar is a fellow at the “<a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/about/fellows/kumar" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Center for Applied Transgender Studies</a>” (CATS), an organization that features professors, Ph.D. candidates, and faculty from universities nationwide. CATS is an “independent nonprofit research organization run by transgender people for transgender people.”

<a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/contact/directory/people/lewis_heidi-r.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heidi R. Lewis</a> is an Associate Professor of Feminist &amp; Gender Studies at Colorado College. Her main areas of research focus on feminist theory, hip pop culture, politics, black feminism, and critical media studies. 

One of the classes she offers is called “<a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/academics/curriculum/catalog/courses/fg110.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Introduction to Gender &amp; Feminist Studies</a>.” In this course, Lewis discusses feminist and gender studies theories and critical practices. Examples of critical practices include “interrogations of power, inequality, and privilege along the lines of sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, age, and other social, cultural, and political markers.”

<a href="https://nataliegosnell.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Natalie Gosnell</a> is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Colorado College. According to her university profile, Gosnell uses the pronouns “she, her, and hers.” Her research focuses on “understanding the stories of binary stars.”

Gosnell said “As an astrophysicist, I’m a product of institutions that are steeped in systemic racism and white supremacy,” according to <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/individualism-is-example-of-white-supremacy-in-astrophysics-professor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>. She also claims her field of study has issues with “‘violent’ and ‘hypermasculine’ bias.”

A piece published by the <a href="https://www.coloradocollege.edu/newsevents/newsroom/2023/professor-gosnell-combines-art-and-science-in-immersive-art-piece.html#.Y8Go1ezMITU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Colorado College</a> paper shares her thoughts on “The tenants of white supremacy that show up [in physics] of individualism and exceptionalism and perfectionism… it’s either-or thinking, and there's no subtlety, there's no gray area.” 

Additionally, according to the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/astrophysics-racist-woke-professor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington Examiner</a>, Gosnell claims there are “systematic issues within science.” To address these issues, including systematic racism and hypermasculinity, she changed her approach to teaching astrophysics. “The Gift,” is an art piece that exemplifies what “was missing for Gosnell in the sharing of science: creativity."

Gosnell told the source affiliated with Colorado Colege that the experience of the dying star phenomenon has usually been looked at through a "hypermasculine lens" or labeling “the mass-receiving star as the ‘bad boys’ of the universe.”

In her article, she states that “Remaining silent may itself be the luxury of white privilege and may reinforce oppression.&#8221; She goes on to say, “This is particularly true when working as a White faculty member, operating with high levels of White fragility, within a system of higher education cloaked in Whiteness.”

EXCLUSIVE - <a href="http://www.campusdirectory.gsu.edu/#person/tbolsen">Toby W. Bolsen</a>—Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University—is a convicted child sex offender who appears on the <a href="https://www.nsopw.gov/en/Search/Results" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI’s national registry</a>.

On June 6th, 2001, a warrant was <a href="https://www.judici.com/courts/cases/case_history.jsp?court=IL070015J&amp;ocl=IL070015J,2001CF39,IL070015JL2001CF39D1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued for Dr. Boslen by the Department of Moultrie County, Illinois for criminal sexual assault.</a> The 25-year-old Bolsen was charged with and pleaded guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse against a 17-year-old girl, with a bail set at $50,000.

He received a sentence of 180 days in jail, 48 months of probation, and was forced to register as a sex offender in addition to paying restitution to the victims. <a href="https://www2.illinois.gov/idoc/OFFENDER/Pages/InmateSearch.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to Illinois prison records, Dr. Bolsen has completed his parole</a>, likely before 2009.

<a href="https://isp.illinois.gov/Sor/Details/X01B3928?x=24289ef3-7857-45ff-8169-9a6ef5c98b62" target="_blank" rel="noopener">His official profile lists him as having committed aggravated criminal sex abuse against a victim between the ages of 13-18</a>. According to Illinois state law, an individual may be charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse if they are <a href="https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/fulltext.asp?DocName=072000050K11-1.60" target="_blank" rel="noopener">5 years older than the victim, threatened the victim, or physically harmed the victim during the assault of an underage woman.</a><a href="https://isp.illinois.gov/Sor/Details/X01B3928?x=24289ef3-7857-45ff-8169-9a6ef5c98b62" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-2256" src="https://backend.professorwatchlist.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Screen-Shot-2022-06-10-at-3.02.40-PM-1024x461.png" alt="" width="500" height="225" /></a>

The Rockford Register Star reports that Dr. Bolsen was a <a href="https://www.rrstar.com/story/news/state/2007/10/20/more-than-2-dozen-illinois/44636388007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Scholastic Bowl coach at Sullivan High School in Moultrie County at the time of his conviction</a>. Dr. Bolsen was also one of twenty-five Ilinois teachers disciplined within a two-year period for sexual misconduct with students or minors.

Dr. Bolsen is a <a href="https://tobybolsen.wordpress.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">graduate of Southern Illinois University and Northwestern University. He has been teaching at Georgia State since 2010</a>. He has authored numerous academic papers—primarily on climate change and was awarded the “Outstanding Faculty Award” from the University in 2015.

The Professor Watchlist Team reached out to Dr. Bolsen and the Department of Political Science at Georgia State University for comment. Both were asked if the University requires Dr. Bolsen to disclose his conviction or instructs minors and/or high school students. Neither responded prior to publication.

Carter alleges a direct link exists between racism and the declining health of African Americans. “Racial discrimination as an acute and chronic stressor can affect development and further exacerbate chronic illnesses and stress-related disorders,” she states on<a href="https://www.drsierracarter.com/about" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> her personal site</a>.

<a href="https://theconversation.com/racial-discrimination-ages-black-americans-faster-according-to-a-25-year-long-study-of-families-143313" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A study conducted by Carter</a> alleges individuals who experienced racism as a child are more likely to suffer depression, advanced aging, and early death. She writes, “The experience of constant and accumulating stress due to racism throughout an individual’s lifetime can wear and tear down the body.”

Continuing, Carter states that her work has “significant implications” due to the number of black Americans who are killed by “racial injustice” and suffer from racial health disparities. Carter vows to interrupt racism with her colleagues so that “black lives matter and are able to thrive.”

Despite her assertions, <a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/manuscript/2019-42997-001.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">at no point in Carter’s study did she determine if the racist incidents her subjects described even occurred</a>. Incidents were only self-reported via a short questionnaire and were never independently verified. In addition, the study did not diagnose any patients with depression but still claimed that a correlation existed between those that experienced symptoms of depression and racism. The study only surveyed a relatively small sample size of 800 families. 

<a href="https://theconversation.com/brain-scans-of-black-women-who-experience-racism-show-trauma-like-effects-putting-them-at-higher-risk-for-future-health-problems-165511" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Another study conducted by Carter</a> claimed that racism alters the long-term brain function of black women. She concluded that racist incidents are far more detrimental to the long-term health of black women than traumatic events like childhood abuse, physical abuse, and sexual violence. 

As with the prior study, <a href="https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamapsychiatry/fullarticle/2782454" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a small sample size of only 55 black women was surveyed</a>. Self-reported instances of racial discrimination against participants were also never verified by researchers.

<a href="https://nypost.com/2020/01/29/fired-babson-professor-defends-controversial-facebook-post-about-iran/">Asheen Phansey</a> was the Director of Sustainability at Babson College before he was fired by the school.  

Phansey suggested in a Facebook post that Iran’s leaders should list 52 cultural sites in the United States to bomb. His post suggested the Mall of America and one of the Kardashian residences as potential targets. 

The comment references then-President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/01/04/trump-doubles-down-on-iran-trading-threats-with-regime/">list of 52 Iranian sites that would be bombed</a> as retaliation if the threats made by Iran’s military to strike American targets were carried out.

His lawyer, Jeffrey Pyle, stated, “I say that it was a pretext because they fired him in order to stop the criticism on social media.” He also claimed that backlash was “racially intolerant.” Continuing, he claimed, “I think that makes it doubly unfortunate that Babson couldn’t defend him when some of the vitriol thrown his way was of that nature.” Pyle and Phansey alleged people called to deport him or prosecute him on social media.

Professor Kareem Khubchandan is an <a href="https://as.tufts.edu/wgss/people/faculty/kareem-khubchandani" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associate Professor in Tufts University’s School of Arts and Sciences</a> department. He specializes in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies, as well as Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora. Khubchandan has written multiple books, journal essays, and encyclopedia entries mostly promoting the history of drag and queer performances in South Asia.
Khubchandan also performs on college campuses under a persona named LaWhore Vagistan. According to <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=18353" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform,</a> “The Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics [hosted the] Tufts professor under his drag alter ego at a meeting for the Politics of Race &amp; Ethnicity program.” Students and faculty were invited via email which included an advertisement of Khubchandan posing in a library.
Additionally, in 2019, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=13808" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform said</a> Khubchandan &#8220;lectur[ed] in drag at various universities in order to teach students about ‘queer nightlife’ and to bring ‘the nightclub to the classroom.” His performance themes continue to range from queer feminism to globalization to Islamophobia.
Khubchandan refers to himself as an “aunty” to his students and mentees on campus. He also teaches Critical Aunty Studies, which is part of Tufts’ Mellon Bridge program. <a href="https://as.tufts.edu/people/faculty/thomas-abowd">Thomas Abowd</a> is a lecturer in the American and Colonialism Studies Departments at Tufts University. Abowd is the author of <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Colonial-Jerusalem-Construction-Difference-Contemporary/dp/0815634692">“Colonial Jerusalem - The Spatial Construction of Identity and Difference in a City of Myth 1948-2012.”</a> He has also served as an <a href="https://canarymission.org/professor/Thomas_Abowd">advisory board member</a> of the group Jewish Voice for Peace in Boston and regularly collaborates with the antisemitic group, <a href="https://www.nationalsjp.org/">Students for Justice in Palestine.</a>

Abowd frequently refers to Israel as a colonial state, in which European Jews stole the land from the Arabs who were living in what is now Israel and launched a campaign of ethnic cleansing that continues to this day. In a 2016 speech at the <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?418402-3/palestine-center-conference-panel-2">Jerusalem Fund’s Annual Conference</a>, Abowd repeated this claim, alleging that Israel’s capital Jerusalem is being actively purged of the Arabs that live in the city.

Abowd’s view that Israel is an apartheid state forms the basis for his support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is weaponized as a means for those who wish to economically and politically isolate, strangle, and dismantle the state of Israel by attacking any companies and nations that have ties with it. As a featured speaker at a <a href="https://jvp-boston.org/hundreds-march-boston-condemn-israeli-violence-corporate-complicity/">2014 protest</a> hosted by Jewish Voice for Peace Boston, Abowd condemned Israel and other companies that he alleged were complicit in the murder of civilians:

“As we all witnessed Israeli jets bombing civilian areas this week, Israeli troops storming Palestinian refugee camps and cities, and the killing of Palestinian civilians, I am reminded how complicit the US government, US corporations, and the American taxpayers are in the human rights abuses committed by Israel.” 

With his prior statements and actions in mind, many in the <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=13577">Tuft’s community were alarmed</a> when Abowd began offering a course titled “Colonizing Palestine.”  According to the <a href="https://as.tufts.edu/colonialismstudies/documents/coursesFall2019.pdf">course description</a>, students will examine Palestine and Israel through the “lens of colonialism studies” and answer important questions regarding issues like “gender and sexuality.”

In an <a href="https://tuftsdaily.com/opinion/2018/09/20/op-ed-professor-thomas-abowd-class-colonizing-palestine/">op-ed defending the course</a>, Abowd describes Israel’s historical claims in the Middle East as “biblical myths.” He even admits that the accounts of historians that have accused Israel of ethnic cleansing are the inspiration for the course:

“(Baruch Kimmerling) wrote in detail about the various ways in which Israel was built overwhelmingly upon the land and even within homes stolen from those Palestinians made refugees. These two scholars, like thousands of others fighting for justice and equality in Israel and Palestine, have inspired my own intellectual pursuits and, indeed, the course I am teaching this semester at Tufts.“

<a href="https://as.tufts.edu/art-architecture/people/faculty/kelli-morgan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kelli Morgan</a> is a Professor of the Practice in both Curatorial Studies and the History of Art and Architecture at Tufts University. She’s also the Director of Curatorial Studies. Her research interests include African-American visual culture, visual literacy, and anti-racist approaches to museum curative practice.

Morgan received her appointment as Professor of the Practice in September 2022. In November, Morgan <a href="https://tuftsdaily.com/news/2022/11/07/professor-kelli-morgan-founds-anti-racist-curatorial-practice-in-effort-to-diversify-museums/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared in an article</a> from The Tufts Daily titled “Professor Kelli Morgan founds Anti-Racist Curatorial Practice in effort to diversify museums.” 

The column says, “[Morgan] founded a new graduate certificate program this year, the Anti-Racist Curatorial Practice. Morgan developed the program…to counter systemic racism often found in museum curation.”

Tufts Daily continues, “Morgan decided to establish the program after experiencing years of discrimination as an art museum curator, most recently as an associate curate of American art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.”

Morgan told Tufts Daily she resigned from her position due to experiencing issues with “class discrimination, gender discrimination, and racial discrimination” that she says is “really rampant in our museum culture, especially in traditional art institutions.”

Morgan’s speaking engagement, “<a href="https://kam.illinois.edu/event/postponed-kelli-morgan-art-whiteness-and-empire-how-we-all-got-here" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art, Whiteness, and Empire: How We All Got Here</a>” — which is hosted by the University of Illinois-Urban Campaign — has been postponed until further notice. The lecture is scheduled to run from October to December and will cover “how and why art museums are currently struggling so badly with diversity, repatriation, restitution, and attempts to create genuine cultures of institutional equity.”

<a href="https://as.tufts.edu/education/people/faculty/cynthia-robinson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cynthia Robinson</a> is a Senior Lecturer in the areas of Museum Studies, History, and Education at Tufts University. She also serves as the Director of Museum Studies and a faculty member for the <a href="https://asegrad.tufts.edu/program/anti-racist-curatorial-practice-certificate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racist Curatorial Practice program</a> — a certification program that trains students in “effective methods of divesting traditional museum practices that are rooted in white colonialist and imperialist histories.”

In March 2022, Robinson took her class to an exhibit through the Tufts University Art Galleries. According to an article titled “<a href="https://now.tufts.edu/2022/03/01/hacking-diversity-and-representation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hacking for Diversity and Representation</a>,” Tufts Now said it was the Galleries' first “Art Datathon to examine how gender, race, and artistic mediums are represented in the university’s collection.”

The presentation was inspired by the director and chief curator for Tufts Galleries who conducted a public audit of campus art by “white males.” Tufts Now reported, “From that analysis (conducted as part of the Tufts as an Anti-Racist Institution initiative)...the Public Art working group concluded that while the university’s imagery wasn’t overtly racist, it was exclusionary because it did not include any people of color.”

Following the controversial killing of an unarmed black woman by police officers in Seattle, Annamma tweeted that, &#8220;The systemic violence that killed Charleena Lyles is the very foundation of the country.&#8221; She then went even further by saying, &#8220;There is no time to return to make America great again, unless you are deeply invested in white supremacy &amp; killing of black &amp; brown people&#8230;to secure your own white property through racism, ableism, [and] cis-heteropatriarchy.&#8221; Her faculty bio says that her research focuses on &#8220;increasing access to equitable education for historically marginalized students and communities, particularly students of color with disabilities.&#8221;

Professor <a href="https://profiles.stanford.edu/david-palumbo-liu?tab=bio">David Polumbo-Liu</a> is the Louise Hewlett Nixon Professor at Stanford University. He is ferociously anti-Israel and is actively involved with ANTIFA on campus.

As co-founder of the <a href="https://campusantifascistnetwork.com/">Campus Antifascist Network</a>, Palumbo-Liu describes the purpose of the network as to "help support, educate and defend faculty, students and staff, and share information on fascist organizing in the U.S., planned fascist activities, and organized antifascist responses."

In an article for the <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/whats-behind-the-explosio_b_8298362">Huffington Post</a>, he repeated the antisemitic trope that Israel is preparing to demolish Al-Aqsa Mossque and accused Israel of indiscriminately murdering Palestians.

A vocal proponent of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, Liu has <a href="https://legalinsurrection.com/2015/01/modern-language-assoc-postpones-anti-israel-boycott-vote-until-2017/">advocated</a> for its passage both at Stanford and at the MLA (Modern Language Association).

Dr. Hakeem Jefferson is an <a href="https://profiles.stanford.edu/hakeem-jefferson?tab=bio" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assistant professor of Political Science</a> at Stanford University, as well as a faculty affiliate with Stanford’s Center for Comparative Studies in Race &amp; Ethnicity. He focuses a majority of his research specifically on understanding the political views of Black Americans. Dr. Jefferson also often writes and speaks on white Americans and the threat that conservatives present to the United States.

On January 8, 2021, Dr. Jefferson <a href="https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/storming-the-u-s-capitol-was-about-maintaining-white-power-in-america/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote an article for FiveThirtyEight</a> accusing white Americans and conservatives of leading the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021, stating that it was because of their inability to accept the election results. He argues that it is not just coincidental that the people who stormed the Capitol were white and many conservatives are white. He further criticizes conservatives by stating that the storming of the Capitol symbolized white Americans’ violent belief that they should have an “unlimited hold” on power in the United States. According to Dr. Jefferson, actions like the storming of the Capitol are “to be expected” from white people whose power or identity is threatened by diversity.

The storming of the U.S. Capitol took place on January 6, 2021. Opposing the certification of election results, things turned tempestuous when some of the protestors decided to break into the Capitol. It has been <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/exclusive-fbi-finds-scant-evidence-us-capitol-attack-was-coordinated-sources-2021-08-20/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">determined that these events were not planned</a> in advance or coordinated.

Dr. Jefferson <a href="https://twitter.com/hakeemjefferson/status/1323987468757073921" target="_blank" rel="noopener">frequently takes to Twitter</a> to discuss his political views. This was no different for the 2020 elections. In the tweet below, Dr. Jefferson points at conservatives for fear-mongering during the 2020 presidential election.

Dr. Jefferson repeatedly discusses the threat of white conservatives to America. He maintains that conservatives are a “dangerous mob of grievous white people” who are worried that their power is being threatened by minorities and diversity in politics. Not only does he take this stance on social media, but he teaches these ideas in his classroom as well. Below is a clip from one of his lectures at Stanford:

In a publication titled, <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/rh33nhu5m55e01k/Curious%20Case%20of%20Black%20Conservatives_Short.pdf?dl=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Curious Case of Black Conservatives”</a>, Dr. Jefferson details why he believes some black Americans identify as conservative. In his research, he claims that black Americans only identify as conservative because they don’t understand the meaning of the words “liberal” or “conservative.” In turn, black Americans who self-identify as “conservative” are wrong and are actually liberal. He states that black Americans’ results from the 7-point liberal-conservative scale cannot be trusted because they are not cognizant of the true meanings of the words.

The <a href="http://www-personal.umich.edu/~wmebane/fall01/gov317/nes48_98/node335.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">7-point liberal-conservative scale</a> asks, on a scale of 1 (extremely liberal) to 7 (extremely conservative), where people believe they fall. This scale is just one of a multitude of different ways a person’s political ideology can be determined or measured.

In the two years since graduating from the University of Michigan with his Ph.D. in Political Science, Dr. Jefferson has made many assertions about not only white, conservative Americans, but also black Americans. His research, teachings, and social media all indicate that he believes white conservatives are a “<a href="https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/storming-the-u-s-capitol-was-about-maintaining-white-power-in-america/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dangerous mob of grievous white people</a>,”  while black Americans don’t have the capacity or understanding to know the difference between being liberal and being conservative.

<a href="https://profiles.stanford.edu/maxe-crandall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maxe Crandall</a> is the “Associate Director of the Program in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Stanford University,” according to his university profile. 

The <a href="https://explorecourses.stanford.edu/search?view=catalog&amp;filter-coursestatus-Active=on&amp;q=COLLEGE%20103:%20Globally%20Queer&amp;academicYear=20222023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description for Crandall’s course, “Globally Queer,”</a> states: 
“After all, are LGBTQ+ identities and rights one size-fits-all? Do they become a way for Western nations to once again set the standards by which others are judged developmentally deficient? In certain societies reference to a 'traditional' national way of thinking about gender and sexuality is simply a fig leaf for homophobia and transphobia.”
Crandall considers himself a poet and playwright. He has published nine print works and several articles. Among his works is <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Nancy-Reagan-Collection-Maxe-Crandall/dp/1733038418" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“The Nancy Reagan Collection”</a> (1920), which, according to the description on Amazon, “is a response to growing up queer and trans under the rise of HIV-AIDS [during the Reagan era, the greatest era in American history]. Crossing genres and generations, this performance novel remixes the AIDS archive through an ever-spiraling politics and aesthetics of mourning.” 

The description further states, “Alternating chapters offer up a narrative throughline composed of hallucinogenic episodes from the perspective of a nameless, grieving protagonist in the midst of the global carnage of the Reagan dynasty. Part revenge, part fantasy, the book experiments with poetic practices that challenge conceptions of memory and morality, activism and escapism, grief and beauty.” On one page in “The Nancy Reagan Collection”, Crandall talks about Reagan’s “groping styles,” and a particular style of blouse she wears (see image below):

<a href="https://markaz.stanford.edu/people/yusuf-zahurullah" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yusuf Zahurullah</a> is an Anti-Islamophobia Teaching Fellow and fourth-year student at Stanford University. 

According to Zahurullah’s university profile, “last year, he served as the inaugural Abbasi-Markaz Fellow. This year, he will serve as the Anti-Islamophobia Teaching Fellow, a role in which he will work with Markaz staff to create a syllabus for and teach a 1-2 unit seminar through the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity titled ‘Interrogating Islamophobia.’”

Zahurullah told <a href="https://stanforddaily.com/2022/11/27/csre-30-stanfords-first-ever-course-on-addressing-islamophobia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Stanford Daily</a> that, “There are certain political groups on campus, namely Stanford College Republicans, who in years past have brought in very Islamophobic speakers.”

He also told The Stanford Daily, “We’re trying to understand what are all the different ways in which you can think about Islamophobia and how Islamophobia actually manifests, whether it’s explicit, like hate crimes and verbal abuse, or more systemic things like the Muslim ban that Trump tried to pass.” 

Regarding the course’s influence on student, Zaharullah “hopes the class sparks dialogue on the history of Islamophobic incidents on Stanford campus.”

<a href="https://ed.stanford.edu/faculty/subini">Dr. Subini Ancy Annamma</a> is an Associate Professor of Education at Stanford University. Following the controversial killing of an unarmed black woman by police officers in Seattle, Annamma tweeted that, "The systemic violence that killed Charleena Lyles is the very foundation of the country." She then went even further by saying, "There is no time to return to make America great again, unless you are deeply invested in white supremacy &amp; killing of black &amp; brown people...to secure your own white property through racism, ableism, [and] cis-heteropatriarchy." Her faculty bio says that her research focuses on "increasing access to equitable education for historically marginalized students and communities, particularly students of color with disabilities."

Aneil Rallin is a Professor of rhetoric and composition at Soka University of America (SUA) in Aliso Viejo, California. He uses they/them pronouns when referring to himself.
In an academic article entitled <a href="https://muse.jhu.edu/article/199944/pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Taming Queers”,</a> Rallin wrote about the medieval Iraqi poet Abu Nuwas. According to Rallin, Nuwas loved “wine and boys, and… felt no need to apologize or tame his desires.” He then quoted the following lines of Nuwas: 
“If I&#8217;m thirsty [he wrote] I&#8217;ll say: come on, be quick, some wine
And if I love a boy why keep silent about his name?”
In May of 2022, Rallin was <a href="https://www.thefire.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused by the SUA’s administrtation</a> of not creating a safe space for his students in his “Writing the Body” course, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE). Interim Dean of Faculty Michael Weiner, in his <a href="https://www.thefire.org/soka-university-of-america-notice-of-charges-to-aneil-rallin-april-1-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Notice of Charges</a>, provided Rallin with a list of accusations based on student complaints. Some of the complaints addressed by Rallin in the Notice were:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“They [the students] felt violated since they were required to read graphic, deviant pornography, discussions on rape and assault, watch a video and a reading about the sexual activities of a couple, gratuitously violent material, etc.</li>
</ul>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“They indicated that the assigned material was disturbing and unrelated to the course.”</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“At least one of your assigned readings suggested that “kink” was a way of healing childhood trauma, and that sex and sexual deviancy can be exciting new ways to understand their bodies.”</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“One student was a rape victim whose mental health issues were triggered as a result of the material and mandate to write with rage regarding her body. Another student was a survivor of sexual abuse.”</li>
</ul>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“Students found a writing to be vaguely pedophilic.”</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“You censored and stifled alternative student views.”</li>

Weiner also wrote that Rallin was charged with violating SUA’s principles of faculty conduct, and the university’s policy on teaching effectiveness.

“I am the only tenured/tenure-track queer of color faculty member at SUA and I’m horrified that in its pursuit to oust me, SUA is deploying well-worn homophobic tropes such as ‘deviant pornography,’ ‘vaguely pedophilic,’ and ‘sexual deviancy.’ The current climate at SUA, created by a new set of administrators, is chilling.”
It is unknown what the current status of Rallin’s case is. However, Rallin is not listed as a faculty member of SUA. <a href="https://www.thefire.org/soka-professor-unjustly-punished-for-triggering-students-with-readings-on-writing-the-body-gets-split-decision-from-faculty-committee-of-just-two/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FIRE reported in June of 2022 </a>that the Dean would have to decide if Rallin should be fired or not. Yvette Felarca is a <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvette-felarca-bb5671214" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School</a> in the Berkeley Unified School District in California. She has been teaching at the middle school for over 14 years.
When she isn’t molding young minds in the classroom, Felarca can be found <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/militant-left-wing-leader-arrested-for-allegedly-inciting-violence-at-2016-sacramento-melee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inciting Antifa riots</a> with her leftist group, BAMN. Felarca is one of the leaders of BAMN, which stands for “By Any Means Necessary.” <a href="https://www.bamn.com/about-bamn-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to their website</a>, BAMN is a democratic youth-led civil rights and immigrant rights organization that is “fighting to put the oppressed in power.”

In 2016, Felarca was arrested twice on charges of inciting riots and violence in California. She was also arrested on a felony charge of assault. Felarca asked the judge to dismiss the charges on the grounds that she was the victim of a “political witch hunt,” but the<a href="https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2018/05/10/judge-refuses-dismiss-charges-antifa-leader-yvette-felarca-n257842" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> judge ruled the felony case against her could proceed</a>. She ultimately pled “No Contest” to the charges and was only required to serve 90 hours of community service.

After the arrests, conservative outlet Judicial Watch filed a request to the Berkeley Unified School District to release any emails related to Felarca and her Antifa group, BAMN. Felarca then sued the district, claiming that releasing the emails would violate her rights to free speech and freedom of expression. The judge, however, <a href="https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2018/11/01/judge-orders-release-yvette-felarcas-emails-n264708" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled that releasing the documents</a> did not violate any rights. The judge also ruled that Felarca was required to pay Judicial Watch $22,000 for their legal fees for filing a frivolous lawsuit against them.
Over 150 pages of emails were released to Judicial Watch. One email even mentioned how Felarca requires her students to participate in political activities, <a href="https://www.berkeleyside.org/2018/10/30/berkeley-unified-flooded-with-angry-calls-threats-over-felarca-records-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including having students make anti-Trump stickers</a>, in class.

Yvette Felarca is a <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/yvette-felarca-bb5671214" target="_blank" rel="noopener">teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School</a> in the Berkeley Unified School District in California. She has been teaching at the middle school for over 14 years.

When she isn’t molding young minds in the classroom, Felarca can be found <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/militant-left-wing-leader-arrested-for-allegedly-inciting-violence-at-2016-sacramento-melee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inciting Antifa riots</a> with her leftist group, BAMN. Felarca is one of the leaders of BAMN, which stands for “By Any Means Necessary.” <a href="https://www.bamn.com/about-bamn-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to their website</a>, BAMN is a democratic youth-led civil rights and immigrant rights organization that is “fighting to put the oppressed in power.”

In 2016, Felarca was arrested twice on charges of inciting riots and violence in California. She was also arrested on a felony charge of assault. Felarca asked the judge to dismiss the charges on the grounds that she was the victim of a “political witch hunt,” but the<a href="https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2018/05/10/judge-refuses-dismiss-charges-antifa-leader-yvette-felarca-n257842" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> judge ruled the felony case against her could proceed</a>. She ultimately pled “No Contest” to the charges and was only required to serve 90 hours of community service.

After the arrests, conservative outlet Judicial Watch filed a request to the Berkeley Unified School District to release any emails related to Felarca and her Antifa group, BAMN. Felarca then sued the district, claiming that releasing the emails would violate her rights to free speech and freedom of expression. The judge, however, <a href="https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2018/11/01/judge-orders-release-yvette-felarcas-emails-n264708" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled that releasing the documents</a> did not violate any rights. The judge also ruled that Felarca was required to pay Judicial Watch $22,000 for their legal fees for filing a frivolous lawsuit against them.

Over 150 pages of emails were released to Judicial Watch. One email even mentioned how Felarca requires her students to participate in political activities, <a href="https://www.berkeleyside.org/2018/10/30/berkeley-unified-flooded-with-angry-calls-threats-over-felarca-records-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including having students make anti-Trump stickers</a>, in class.

Dr. Dorinda Carter Andrews is a <a href="https://education.msu.edu/people/carter-andrews-dorinda/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chairperson and Professor</a> at Michigan State University in the College of Education. Her research interests include racial justice and educational equity. Dr. Andrews has published articles for many media outlets and journals and has given two <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3N23MXsow8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TED Talks</a> in relation to critical race theory and racial gaps in education.

Dr. Andrews alleges conservatives “cry CRT” any time an educator teaches something from America’s history that puts them in a “bad light,” even if it’s true. She goes on to insinuate that conservatives don’t want educators teaching black history at all.

In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOrgf3wTUbo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TED Talk given in 2014</a>, Dr. Andrews discussed racial inequity in the education system. She argues that the education system was founded in white supremacy,  making it nearly impossible for students of color to get ahead. She claims that students of color and poor students are already behind the curve before they even step foot into the classroom, and it’s unfair to expect the same levels of success for them compared to white students.

Dr. Andrews is a critical race theorist who pushes anti-white rhetoric in the classroom. In her opinion, racism is so deeply embedded into our education system that students of color have no chance of getting ahead if critical race theory isn’t taught in the classroom. In her eyes, conservatives are only against critical race theory because they fear it paints them in a negative light.

Carla Pfeffer is an <a href="https://socialwork.msu.edu/directory/pfeffer-carla.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associate Professor of Social Work</a> and Director of the Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health at Michigan State University.
Professor Pfeffer is outspoken about her pro-choice beliefs. She was quoted in an MSU Today article titled: <a href="https://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2022/Roe-V-Wade-decision-MSU-experts-discuss" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Roe v. Wade overturned: Michigan State University experts discuss.”</a> Pfeffer stated:
“Consistent governmental inaction in regard to protecting all children from poverty, gun violence, and police violence reveals the hypocrisy of legally restricting abortion. Rather than protecting children, banning abortion is about governmental power and control over marginalized bodies and crass political maneuvering to appease a conservative base.” 
She continued:
“In discussions about the overturn of Roe v. Wade, people who are lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary tend to be left out of the conversation.”
She finished her statement by claiming that members of the LGBTQ community “often face disproportionately higher rates of unintended and unwanted pregnancy” and that abortion access is “critical for ensuring physical and mental health.”
In September 2022, Pfeffer wrote an article for <a href="https://theconversation.com/transgender-men-and-nonbinary-people-are-asked-to-stop-testosterone-therapy-during-pregnancy-but-the-evidence-for-this-guidance-is-still-murky-187672" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Conversation</a> where she argued that transgender men and nonbinary people should not have to stop testosterone therapy while they are pregnant. Although many doctors told Pfeffer that there is “not enough or inconclusive research on supplemental testosterone during pregnancy,” Pfeffer argues that “testosterone therapy is often essential to the mental and physical health” of transgender people.
Pfeffer believes that “careful attention to the physical and mental health and well-being of trans and nonbinary people before, during and after pregnancy is long overdue in medicine” and that:
“Instead of approaching testosterone therapy during pregnancy as a yes/no question or a one-size-fits-all standard, investigating how various dosages of testosterone may affect all stages of pregnancy and chestfeeding could lead to better outcomes for both trans patients and their children.”

Dr. Melissa Fore is a <a href="https://jmc.msu.edu/about/directory/Fore.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the James Madison College Reading and Writing Center</a> at Michigan State University. Dr. Fore teaches in the first-year writing program and is a core faculty member MSU’s Center for Gender in a Global Context.
Dr. Fore’s professor biography states:
“Her writing classroom explores how concepts of race, class, gender, and sexuality are culturally constructed through social, political, and economic values. She asks students to consider how the cycles of socialization have influenced their understanding of identity and community in order to engage in writing assignments that examine structural racism, the affordable housing crisis, and challenging gender norms.” 
In April 2019, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=12117" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> reported that Professor Fore canceled class to allow her students to attend a conference on race and socialism. The James Madison College Office of Diversity Programming described the event as “fundamentally designed to examine systems of power and privilege in the United States, especially the impact of these ‘systems’ on communities of color.”
Dr. Fore is a facilitator for <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AWARE (Advancing White Anti-Racist Education) Together.</a> The AWARE Together website states that the organization “offers white anti-racist education programs for groups and associations that are committed to seeing the realities of racism and taking anti-racist action.” Further, the <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/purpose.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">‘Purpose’ page</a> states: “White people benefit from the social and economic systems that perpetuate racism. Ending the terror and injustice of white supremacy can only be accomplished if white people work to be anti-racist.”
Professor Fore’s <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/facilitators.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">facilitator biography</a> states:
“In examining her own identity as a white woman, Melissa came to see how identity formation is linked to power and privilege, and how dismantling white supremacy is central to social, political, and economic justice.” 
Dr. Fore co-founded the Marble Elementary School Equity Team and is the Co-Chair of the <a href="https://elps.us/our-district/board-of-education/committees/reproductive-health-advisory-committee/sex-education-advisory-board-members/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">East Lansing Sex Education Advisory Board.</a> The Sex Education Advisory Board has a document titled the <a href="https://elps.us/downloads/school_board_-_committee_documents/k-5_consent_toolkit_moash_1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">‘K-5 Consent Toolkit.’</a> The document is intended for Michigan educators, parents, caregivers, and students and includes standards and curriculum for elementary school students.
The document states that by the end of second grade, students should be able to: list medically accurate names for genitals, define gender, gender identity, and gender role stereotypes, and discuss the range of ways people express gender and how gender role stereotypes may limit behavior.
The document also provides links to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IJ2hD7bECD1gkWoDND5s5sRYG37RYPRf/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested lesson plans.</a> One of these lesson plans, titled “Understanding Our Bodies &#8211; The Basics,” tells students that “There are some body parts that mostly just girls have and some parts that mostly just boys have.”
Another lesson plan, titled “Pink, Blue and Purple,” instructs students on gender identity, stating: “You might feel like you are a boy, you might feel like you are a girl. You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts. You might feel like you’re a girl even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘boy’ parts.”

According to the <a href="https://reeec.illinois.edu/about/mission-and-history">website</a> for the REEEC, the center serves as an “intellectual and institutional center for members of the university community and the public interested in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the newly independent states of Eurasia.”
In the book titled, <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Buying_into_English/9qBqcG-rYsYC?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=inauthor:%22Catherine+Prendergast%22&amp;printsec=frontcover">Buying into English: Language and Investment in the New Capitalist World</a>, Prendergast states that English is the first language of capitalism.

<a href="https://english.illinois.edu/directory/profile/cprender">Catherine Prendergast</a> is a Professor of English and an affiliate of the Russian East-European, and Eurasian Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (REEEC). According to the <a href="https://reeec.illinois.edu/about/mission-and-history">website</a> for the REEEC, the center serves as an “intellectual and institutional center for members of the university community and the public interested in Eastern Europe, Russia, and the newly independent states of Eurasia.”

In the book titled, <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Buying_into_English/9qBqcG-rYsYC?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=inauthor:%22Catherine+Prendergast%22&amp;printsec=frontcover">Buying into English: Language and Investment in the New Capitalist World</a>, Prendergast states that English is the first language of capitalism.

Prendergast claims in the same <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Buying_into_English/9qBqcG-rYsYC?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=inauthor:%22Catherine+Prendergast%22&amp;printsec=frontcover">book</a> that the adoption of English by Slovakia’s citizens will result in them being “manipulated and controlled” in a capitalist economy by “more powerful players in more powerful countries” as the nation transitions to a free-market economy.

In a separate tweet, Prendergast <a href="https://twitter.com/cjp_still/status/1293601731415343116">states</a> that the reason that we do not have socialism in America is due to “racism.”

According to her paper’s abstract, Prendergast argues that as Slovaks increasingly learn English, they increasingly embrace a Western, capitalist way of life.

Catherine Pendergast also refers to conservatives as Nazis. In light of this characterization,  she <a href="https://twitter.com/cjp_still/status/1265715240374861829">urges</a> white people not to vote for two election cycles.

In reference to Pastor <a href="https://www.gracechurch.org/Leader/MacArthur/John">John MacArthur’s</a> <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/12/us/pastor-macarthur-church-california/index.html">defiance of California’s COVID regulations</a>, which limited worship services to 100 or less congregants, Prendergast <a href="https://twitter.com/cjp_still/status/1293930470749732866">tweets</a> that Christians will “kill us all” for gathering in a church to worship during a pandemic.

Prendergast also publicly <a href="https://twitter.com/cjp_still/status/1382051991296348172">hurled slanderous claims</a> against a staff member and tweeted other <a href="https://twitter.com/cjp_still/status/1382067461898571782">outrageous claims</a> against TPUSA.
