<a href="http://liberalarts.utexas.edu/history/faculty/profile.php?id=jn324">Dr. Joan Neuberger</a>, a professor at University of Texas-Austin led anti-campus carry efforts, including a petition to bar students who conceal carry from entering classrooms, in violation of Texas law. A change.org petition organized by the same group said, “WE OPPOSE GUNS IN OUR CLASSROOMS AS A DIRECT ASSAULT ON OUR FREE SPEECH RIGHTS.” Despite her proclamations about the dangers of guns, Neuberger is not actually a statistician or criminal justice professor, but a Russian history professor.

<a href="http://www.utexas.edu/cola/rs/faculty/profile.php?id=jt27">Dr. John Traphagan</a> is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Texas, Austin. A Campus Reform article states, "In a column for the Dallas Morning News, University of Texas at Austin professor John Traphagan said Americans are 'unable to handle' gun ownership. According to Traphagan, the U.S. should curtail or eliminate the ability to purchase guns and 'prohibit many forms of gun ownership.'"

<a href="http://journalism.utexas.edu/faculty/robert-jensen">Dr. Robert Jensen</a> is a Professor of Journalism at the University of Texas, Austin. In an essay on a social justice website, Jensen argued that rape is part of the larger violent, patriarchy. He told Campus Reform that, “I don’t believe there will be any serious progress toward eliminating men’s violence against women if we do not address the toxic notions about masculinity in patriarchy—masculinity understood as rooted in control, conquest, aggression.” Jensen also attacked a major anti-sexual assault group for blaming the perpetrators for rape, instead of focusing on the patriarchal culture as the main cause.

<a href="https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/english/faculty/sas347">Snehal Shingavi</a> is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Texas, Austin.

While teaching at the University of California, Berkeley, Shingavi co-founded the anti-Israel group <a href="https://canarymission.org/organization/sjp">Students for Justice in Palestine</a> (SJP) with Professor Hatem Bazian.  SJP is known for its vitriolic campaigns and aggressively confronting Jewish and pro-Israel students on campus. They are also known for their active role in Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns on university campuses.

Snehal first generated controversy at UC Berkeley in 2002 for his <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/7789/hardball-interview-with-snehal-shingavi">course</a>, "The Politics and Poetics of Palestinian Resistance." The course description alleged that Israel has “systematically displaced, killed and maimed millions of Palestinian people.”

The course also all, but outright barred conservative students from attending: “This class takes as its starting point the right of Palestinians to fight for their own self-determination. Conservative thinkers are encouraged to seek other sections.”

Now teaching at UT Austin, <a href="https://canarymission.org/professor/Snehal_Shingavi">Shehal</a> is a regular at protests and events committed to demonizing Israel. During a 2014 lecture, he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAGtcdPL244&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;t=13m15s">likened</a> Israel to Nazi Germany, claiming, “This is not me being hyperbolic…..Gaza is the biggest open air concentration camp in the world today and the condition of life in Gaza is not dissimilar to life in Auschwitz and Dachau.”

Thomas K. Hubbard was the James R. Dougherty Jr. Centennial Professor of Classics, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20190905194331/https://minio.la.utexas.edu/colaweb-prod/person_files/0/354/thomas_k_hubbard_curriculum_vitae.pdf">who taught at the University of Texas-Austin from 1988 t0 2021</a>. Hubbard’s body of research included ancient pederasty – adult male sexual relations with underage boys  – which Hubbard calls the “<a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2019/12/17/ut-students-protest-professors-house-over-his-writings-on-sexual-relations-between-men-and-boys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">romantic courtship</a>” of teenage boys by older men.

Writing in the peer-reviewed Thymos Journal of Boyhood Studies, Hubbard detailed this position in an article titled, <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/276216200_Sexual_Consent_and_the_Adolescent_Male_or_What_Can_We_Learn_from_the_Greeks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Consent and the Adolescent Male, or What Can We Learn From the Greeks</a>. Hubbard <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/2019/12/18/a-ut-professor-advocates-pedophilia-why-are-we-paying-for-it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims</a> that there are great benefits to relationships between older men and teenage boys by appealing to the portrayal of these relationships in Greek artworks and myths.

Hubbard also <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/2019/12/18/a-ut-professor-advocates-pedophilia-why-are-we-paying-for-it/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">states</a> that sexual relationships between teenage boys and adult men can replace the lack of intimacy that a boy might experience if the young man has an absent father.

Hubbard utilizes his research on pederasty to buoy his advocacy for lowering the federal legal age for sexual consent. Hubbard also <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2019/12/17/ut-students-protest-professors-house-over-his-writings-on-sexual-relations-between-men-and-boys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decries age-of-consent laws</a>, calling them a “sad by-product” of the Victorian era that prevented sexual liberation.

Hubbard made the distinction, in a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20200216112913if_/https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wGGrODNSdwudrF1G4uerU2DsRxcSx3DR1Nbn6JOd7ho/edit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-deleted google document</a>, that he was speaking on behalf of pederasty and not pedophilia. He continues in the Doc by extolling several nations for having age-of-consent laws that were lower than the United States.

Hubbard’s work has been distributed and used by <a href="https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2019/12/17/ut-students-protest-professors-house-over-his-writings-on-sexual-relations-between-men-and-boys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">groups like the North American Man/Boy Love Association</a> (NAMBLA), which advocates for the abolishment of age-of-consent laws between children and adults.

The University of Texas-Austin’s administration reaffirmed Hibbard’s right to <a href="https://www.thedailybeast.com/students-want-thomas-hubbard-fired-for-work-on-pederasty-but-university-of-texas-says-its-protected-speech" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“explore controversial and offensive ideas</a>.” As of December 2020, <a href="https://www.statesman.com/story/news/education/2020/07/23/ut-professor-accused-of-promoting-pedophilia-sues-student-for-libel/42515639/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hubbard is suing a student and 10 others for libel</a> after they distributed flyers labeling him a pedophile.
UPDATE 
A university spokeswoman has informed the Professor Watchlist team that Thomas Hubbard is no longer employed at the University of Texas. As stated in their response, Dr. Hubbard announced his retirement in July of 2021 and is no longer associated with the University in any capacity.

Despite their written statement, <a href="https://cola.utexas.edu/european_studies/people/faculty/thubbard">Dr. Hubbard was still listed on the university website</a> as a professor in the Center for European Studies at the time of the university's letter

In a follow-up conversation with the university spokeswomen, Dr. Hubbard's profile was removed from the European Studies page and he is no longer listed as a faculty member with the University as of December 15th, 2021.

John O. Brennan is a <a href="https://intelligencestudies.utexas.edu/about/leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Scholar</a> and <a href="https://www.strausscenter.org/person/john-o-brennan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior Advisor to the Intelligence Studies Project</a> at the <a href="https://www.utexas.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Texas-Austin</a>. Brennan also serves as a <a href="https://www.centeronnationalsecurity.org/fellows#john-o-brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distinguished Fellow for Global Security</a> for the Center on National Security at <a href="https://www.fordham.edu/site/index.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fordham University</a>.

Prior to both roles, Brennan served as the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/John-Brennan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) </a>from 2013 to 2017. His service and post-CIA career have been marred with controversies, including allegations of spying on political opponents, overseas clandestine operations, and incendiary comments towards conservatives and libertarians.

In 2014, the CIA was <a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2014/03/11/289085076/feinsteins-cia-outrage-splits-senate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused by California Senator Dianne Feinstein of illegally accessing the computers of Senate staffers</a> investigating the use of “enhanced interrogation” against detainees. <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/03/brennan-denies-claims-cia-hacked-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan initially denied the allegations</a>, stating that, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Brennan was later forced to apologize when an Inspector General report found that <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/213933-cia-admits-to-wrongly-hacking-into-senate-computers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate computers were in fact “hacked” by CIA officials</a>.

Brennan has been accused of arming radical Islamists during the Syrian Civil War. As The American Conservative documents, <a href="https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/how-america-armed-terrorists-in-syria/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The CIA—under Brennan's direction—played a significant role in supplying deadly weapons to al-Qaeda affiliates</a> in an attempt to topple the Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad.

In his final years as CIA director, Brennan played a prominent role in what later became known as “Russiagate.” During the 2016 general election, intelligence agencies attempted to determine whether or not then-presidential candidate Donald Trump coordinated with the Russian Government to <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/288883-wikileaks-posts-20000-dnc-emails" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hack and release sensitive emails from the Democratic National Committee</a>. Special Counsel Robert Mueller later found that there was <a href="https://www.dw.com/en/mueller-report-found-no-evidence-of-trump-russia-collusion-justice-dept/a-48046468" target="_blank" rel="noopener">no evidence of any coordination between the Trump Campaign and the Russian Government</a>.

While investigating Trump, John Brennan relied on allegations in what became known as the “Steele Dossier”— <a href="https://www.npr.org/2017/08/23/545289362/researcher-behind-unverified-trump-dossier-meets-senate-investigators" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a series of salacious allegations and potentially compromising information against Donald Trump</a> — compiled by British Intelligence agent Christopher Steele. The <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/09/steeles-dossier-source-was-a-suspected-russian-spy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">source for the dossier was later found to be a suspected Russian Spy,</a> who likely <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/453384-fbis-spreadsheet-puts-a-stake-through-the-heart-of-steeles-dossier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exaggerated or falsified his information</a>.

Despite <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/442944-fbis-steele-story-falls-apart-false-intel-and-media-contacts-were-flagged" target="_blank" rel="noopener">agents flagging the information as false</a>, the Steele Dossier was later used as the basis to <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/ig-report-confirms-no-fisa-warrant-on-carter-page-without-steele-dossier/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">obtain warrants to surveil members of the Trump campaign</a>. Initially pushing to include the information, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2019/12/09/brennan-lied-about-not-including-steele-dossier-in-intelligence-community-assessment-on-2016-russian-election-interference/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan later lied under congressional oath, stating he did not include the Steele Dossier in intelligence briefings</a>.

Declassified, handwritten notes from Brennan further show that he assisted in <a href="https://news.yahoo.com/dni-releases-cia-documents-hillary-204337457.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">efforts to tie the Trump campaign to Russia</a> to benefit the Hillary Clinton campaign. This is consistent with testimony accusing <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2020/05/12/fox-news-john-brennan-russia-hillary-clinton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brennan of suppressing intelligence that the Russian Government wanted Hillary Clinton to win</a> the 2016 presidential election.

Brennan continued to publically attack President Trump after the 2016 election, accusing <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/08/19/brennan_on_sunday_i_stand_by_accusing_president_trump_of_treason.html#!" target="_blank" rel="noopener">him of “treason” against the United States on behalf of Russia</a>. Brennan <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2017/05/25/ex-cia-director-john-brennan-ive-seen-no-evidence-collusion-russia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admits that he has seen no evidence that Donald Trump colluded</a> with the Russian government to win the 2016 election.

Following the Capital Hill riots, John Brennan <a href="https://twitter.com/tomselliott/status/1352007118392582148?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1352007118392582148%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwearechange.org%2Feven-libertarians-john-brennan-issues-list-of-ideologies-biden-intel-community-should-go-after%2F" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has described libertarians as terrorists and white supremacists</a>.

On his personal Twitter account, Brennan demands that conservatives need to publically recant their support of Donald Trump and admit that it was wrong to support the President of the United States.

In an interview with MSNBC, Brennan <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/deadline-white-house/watch/fmr-cia-dir-brennan-republicans-will-continue-to-gaslight-the-country-101798469719" target="_blank" rel="noopener">remarks</a> that many conservatives make him “embarrassed to be a white man.”

Brennan has admitted in the past that he voted for the Communist Party in past elections. According to CNN, Brennan <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recounts</a> that he admitted to voting for the Communist Party Candidate, Gus Hall, in the 1976 general election. Brennan is reported <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/15/politics/john-brennan-cia-communist-vote/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stating</a> that voting for Hall was his way of “signaling his unhappiness of the system.”

As The Spectator <a href="https://spectator.org/john-brennans-president-remembering-comrade-gus-hall/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a>, Gus Hall was a four-time presidential candidate and leader of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). Throughout his career, Hall defended atrocities committed by the Soviet Union while secretly receiving tens of millions of dollars from the Kremlin.

The Professor Watchlist Team reached out to the Intelligence Studies Project at the University of Texas for comment but has not received a response by the time of publication.

Dr. Kevin Cokley is the <a href="https://education.utexas.edu/faculty/kevin_cokley" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department Chair of the Department of Educational Psychology</a> as well as a Professor of African American Diaspora Studies and Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas - Austin. He is a Distinguished Teaching Professor and is published in many outlets, including Journal of Black Psychology, The Huffington Post, and The Hill. Dr. Cokley has taught many courses, some of which are Psychology of African American Experience and Multicultural Counseling.

Dr. Cokley is very openly pro-critical race theory. <a href="https://www.courierpress.com/story/opinion/2021/07/15/viewpoint-teaching-critical-race-theory-patriotic-not-anti-american/7982099002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In an opinion piece for Courier &amp; Press</a>, Dr. Cokley claims that critical race theory is actually patriotic. He accuses conservatives of pushing a false narrative about critical race theory by claiming it’s “divisive, hostile, and anti-American… and teaches kids to hate each other” which is a “politicized misrepresentation.”

Later in the article, Dr. Cokley makes the claim that the first line of the U.S. Constitution, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…” suggests that even our founders believed America is a work-in progress. According to him, critical race theory reminds us that this is still very true.

Dr. Cokley <a href="https://redstate.com/alexparker/2021/07/09/usa-today-runs-pro-critical-race-theory-piece-professor-says-crts-not-divisive-or-anti-american-n408847" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defines critical race theory</a> as an idea “which posits that racism is not simply acts of individual bias or prejudice, but rather is embedded in institutions, policies and legal systems.” While he states he has never explicitly taught critical race theory, he does teach ideas consistent with critical race theory by providing students with examples of how Black inferiority and racism are deeply woven into modern school practices. He asserts that conservatives who are against critical race theory are wanting to prevent any type of discussion around racism or putting America in a negative light. Dr. Cokley argues that there is nothing anti-American about acknowledging the fact that racism is woven into the fabric of the United States.

In June of 2021, Dr. Cokley appeared on a <a href="https://www.fox7austin.com/video/690219" target="_blank" rel="noopener">segment for Fox 7 News Austin</a> discussing racial injustices. The video shows violent riots after the death of George Floyd while Dr. Cokley justifies this behavior because of racial injustice in America. <a href="\&quot;https://education.utexas.edu/faculty/emma_gargroetzi\&quot;" target="_blank" rel="\&quot;noopener\&quot;">Emma Gargroetzi</a> is an Assistant Professor of STEM Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Austin. Gargroetzi’s research focuses on identity, power, and educational justice in the mathematical lives of children and youth. Gargroetzi received her Ph.D. from Stanford University with a dual focus on race, inequality, and language in education and in mathematics education.

<a href="https://education.utexas.edu/faculty/anthony_brown" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anthony Brown</a> is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at The University of Texas - Austin. Professor Brown’s research focuses on “historical and contemporary issues and discourses concerning African American students in schools and society.” Brown is a director of the <a href="https://teachingtxslavery.education.utexas.edu/#/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Teaching Texas Slavery Project</a> which “seeks to help teachers rethink the teaching of slavery and race within the context of the K-12 Texas history curriculum… The overall goal is to transform the teaching of slavery and race across the K-12 social studies curriculum.”

<a href="https://experts.utexas.edu/kathrynn_pounders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kate Pounders</a> is an Associate Professor at the Stan Richards School of Advertising &amp; Public Relations at the University of Texas - Austin. 

In an email obtained by <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/ut-austin-research-program-teaches-white-4-year-olds-about-anti-black-racism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix</a>, Kate Pounders and two other professors announced a study to learn how young children hold racist beliefs and attitudes. The endeavor is officially titled <a href="https://utexas.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eqZcrUWQ1Sc7rDM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GOKAR!</a>, which stands for, “Kids Against Racism.” 

The letter states the researchers are interested in studying children who are 4-5 years of age and have not started kindergarten. The qualifications for applicants stipulate the “child and caregiver must both self-identify as white.” 

The program will gauge how caregivers may reduce racial bias and increase awareness around racism after engaging in dialogue about “anti-black racism” with children at home.

Censorship
In 2017, Bishop attempted to have a conservative student and another professional fired from their jobs due to comments each made on Facebook with which Bishop disagreed.

The controversy began with a <a href="https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/tyler-o-neil/2017/04/01/texas-prof-tries-to-get-conservatives-fired-over-facebook-argument-n51022">post</a> by Texas State University Student Body Vice President, Colton Duncan, who objected to TXST hosting <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Angela-Davis">Angela Davis</a> as a speaker. Davis, a Vice-Presidential candidate for the Communist Party USA, was once one of the <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/topten-history/hires_images/FBI-309-AngelaYvonneDavis.jpg/view">FBI’s most wanted criminals </a>for the murder of a trial judge. PJ Media reports <a href="https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/tyler-o-neil/2017/04/01/texas-prof-tries-to-get-conservatives-fired-over-facebook-argument-n51022">Duncan calling Davis</a> an “American terrorist,” while simultaneously denying the College Republicans the opportunity to host their women’s empowerment summit.

According to Campus Reform, Bishop then <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=9002">replied</a> to Duncan’s post, stating it was a “shame” that students didn’t know the difference between Hitler and Stalin.

Alexander Morrisette, an employee of the conservative Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF), commented on Bishop’s reply, stating, “Enemies can have similar goals, interests, and dreams of autocratic control.”

Morrisette’s response evolved into a debate with Bishop in Facebook’s comment section. As each continued posting comments, an anonymous student, whose identity cannot be verified, proceeded to “like'' all of Morrisette’s comments. This prompted Bishop to call Texas State University department that employed the student who had “liked” Morrisette’s comments asking that the student, and those whom Bishop described as the student’s “associates,” be investigated for “hate speech.” According to Campus Reform, Bishop also <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=9002">demanded</a> that the university department that employed dismiss her from all leadership positions.

In an attempt to damage Morrisette’s employment, Bishop also contacted TPPF claiming that Morrisette had made disparaging remarks about her. Bishop, however, <a href="https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/tyler-o-neil/2017/04/01/texas-prof-tries-to-get-conservatives-fired-over-facebook-argument-n51022">refused</a> to give any further details.

<a href="https://www.polisci.txstate.edu/people/faculty-bios/henderson.html">Rick Henderson</a>, a Senior Lecturer at Texas State University, accused multiple Republican presidential candidates of “talking out of [their] ass[es],” including Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rand Paul, and Carly Fiorina. According to an audio recording of the class, Henderson said “So I guess if you’re Rand Paul you just go, ‘hmm, what can I pull out my ass?’ And Carly Fiorina saying that marijuana is more dangerous than beer? Talking out of her ass! And Ted Cruz, I can’t tell the difference between his mouth and his ass. I mean, what are you talking about? Are you insane?’” The diatribe caused the department chair to remind “Professor Henderson of the need to maintain a classroom climate that honors the principles of free and open expression while maintaining an appropriate level of civility.”

<a href="https://www.txst.edu/history/people/faculty-staff/goldstone.html">Dr. Dwonna Naomi Goldstone</a> is an Associate Professor of History and the Director of the African-American Studies program at <a href="https://www.txst.edu/">Texas State University</a>. Dr. Goldstone teaches two courses that are required for the African-American Studies program: AAS 2310: Intro to African American Studies, and AAS 4320: Global Perspectives on the African Diaspora.

According to Dr. Goldstone’s university profile, she is currently working on three essays: one about Barbara Conrad Smith, a black undergraduate student at the University of Texas in its first year of integration (1956-1957) who was removed from the school’s opera; a second titled “Teaching While Black: A Black Professor in Trump Land”; and a third on teaching feminism in a men’s prison.

Additionally, Dr. Goldstone has made <a href="https://www.theleafchronicle.com/story/life/2016/04/08/focus-racial-tension-still-evident-campus-society/82674382/">comments referring to race, such as</a> “I have black and white students in my classes. I get the feeling a lot of the white students are there only because they have to take a diversity course. They sometimes seem resistant to the conversation. I have some students who try to speak their truth, only for it to be denied, or diminished by others. There is just not enough conversation between the races.”

These statements were made during an interview with The Leaf-Chronicle while she was a professor of English at <a href="https://www.apsu.edu/">Austin Peay State University</a>. Dr. Goldstone was in charge of the African-American studies minor program for the last six years; she stated: “I do feel that my job, as a black professor, is to help black students specifically, to get through, but I have students of all colors coming to my office, and I help everybody… I still believe that you have to be twice as good to be equal to white people.”

Michigan State University

<a href="http://www.english.msu.edu/people/faculty/william-penn/">William Penn</a> teaches in the Creative Writing Program at Michigan State University. Penn was recorded complaining in one of his creative writing classes about “dead white Republicans” who “raped his country.” As a student videotaped his rant, Penn antagonized students and asked, “You look like you’re frowning. Are you frowning?”.

Dr. Dorinda Carter Andrews is a <a href="https://education.msu.edu/people/carter-andrews-dorinda/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chairperson and Professor</a> at Michigan State University in the College of Education. Her research interests include racial justice and educational equity. Dr. Andrews has published articles for many media outlets and journals and has given two <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3N23MXsow8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TED Talks</a> in relation to critical race theory and racial gaps in education.

In an <a href="https://www.hourdetroit.com/education-schools/a-critical-race-theory-expert-on-how-something-benign-became-toxic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article for Hour Detroit</a>, Dr. Andrews accuses conservatives of “gaslighting” by being against critical race theory. Dr. Andrews alleges conservatives “cry CRT” any time an educator teaches something from America’s history that puts them in a “bad light,” even if it’s true. She goes on to insinuate that conservatives don’t want educators teaching black history at all.

In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOrgf3wTUbo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TED Talk given in 2014</a>, Dr. Andrews discussed racial inequity in the education system. She argues that the education system was founded in white supremacy,  making it nearly impossible for students of color to get ahead. She claims that students of color and poor students are already behind the curve before they even step foot into the classroom, and it’s unfair to expect the same levels of success for them compared to white students.

Dr. Andrews is a critical race theorist who pushes anti-white rhetoric in the classroom. In her opinion, racism is so deeply embedded into our education system that students of color have no chance of getting ahead if critical race theory isn’t taught in the classroom. In her eyes, conservatives are only against critical race theory because they fear it paints them in a negative light.

Carla Pfeffer is an <a href="https://socialwork.msu.edu/directory/pfeffer-carla.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associate Professor of Social Work</a> and Director of the Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health at Michigan State University.

Professor Pfeffer is outspoken about her pro-choice beliefs. She was quoted in an MSU Today article titled: <a href="https://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2022/Roe-V-Wade-decision-MSU-experts-discuss" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Roe v. Wade overturned: Michigan State University experts discuss.”</a> Pfeffer stated:
“Consistent governmental inaction in regard to protecting all children from poverty, gun violence, and police violence reveals the hypocrisy of legally restricting abortion. Rather than protecting children, banning abortion is about governmental power and control over marginalized bodies and crass political maneuvering to appease a conservative base.” 
She continued:
“In discussions about the overturn of Roe v. Wade, people who are lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary tend to be left out of the conversation.”
She finished her statement by claiming that members of the LGBTQ community “often face disproportionately higher rates of unintended and unwanted pregnancy” and that abortion access is “critical for ensuring physical and mental health.”

In September 2022, Pfeffer wrote an article for <a href="https://theconversation.com/transgender-men-and-nonbinary-people-are-asked-to-stop-testosterone-therapy-during-pregnancy-but-the-evidence-for-this-guidance-is-still-murky-187672" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Conversation</a> where she argued that transgender men and nonbinary people should not have to stop testosterone therapy while they are pregnant. Although many doctors told Pfeffer that there is “not enough or inconclusive research on supplemental testosterone during pregnancy,” Pfeffer argues that “testosterone therapy is often essential to the mental and physical health” of transgender people.

Pfeffer believes that “careful attention to the physical and mental health and well-being of trans and nonbinary people before, during and after pregnancy is long overdue in medicine” and that:
“Instead of approaching testosterone therapy during pregnancy as a yes/no question or a one-size-fits-all standard, investigating how various dosages of testosterone may affect all stages of pregnancy and chestfeeding could lead to better outcomes for both trans patients and their children.”

Dr. Melissa Fore is a <a href="https://jmc.msu.edu/about/directory/Fore.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the James Madison College Reading and Writing Center</a> at Michigan State University. Dr. Fore teaches in the first-year writing program and is a core faculty member MSU’s Center for Gender in a Global Context.

Dr. Fore’s professor biography states:
“Her writing classroom explores how concepts of race, class, gender, and sexuality are culturally constructed through social, political, and economic values. She asks students to consider how the cycles of socialization have influenced their understanding of identity and community in order to engage in writing assignments that examine structural racism, the affordable housing crisis, and challenging gender norms.” 
In April 2019, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=12117" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> reported that Professor Fore canceled class to allow her students to attend a conference on race and socialism. The James Madison College Office of Diversity Programming described the event as “fundamentally designed to examine systems of power and privilege in the United States, especially the impact of these ‘systems’ on communities of color.”

Dr. Fore is a facilitator for <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AWARE (Advancing White Anti-Racist Education) Together.</a> The AWARE Together website states that the organization “offers white anti-racist education programs for groups and associations that are committed to seeing the realities of racism and taking anti-racist action.” Further, the <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/purpose.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">‘Purpose’ page</a> states: “White people benefit from the social and economic systems that perpetuate racism. Ending the terror and injustice of white supremacy can only be accomplished if white people work to be anti-racist.”

Professor Fore’s <a href="https://www.awaretogether.org/facilitators.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">facilitator biography</a> states:
“In examining her own identity as a white woman, Melissa came to see how identity formation is linked to power and privilege, and how dismantling white supremacy is central to social, political, and economic justice.” 
Dr. Fore co-founded the Marble Elementary School Equity Team and is the Co-Chair of the <a href="https://elps.us/our-district/board-of-education/committees/reproductive-health-advisory-committee/sex-education-advisory-board-members/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">East Lansing Sex Education Advisory Board.</a> The Sex Education Advisory Board has a document titled the <a href="https://elps.us/downloads/school_board_-_committee_documents/k-5_consent_toolkit_moash_1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">‘K-5 Consent Toolkit.’</a> The document is intended for Michigan educators, parents, caregivers, and students and includes standards and curriculum for elementary school students.

The document states that by the end of second grade, students should be able to: list medically accurate names for genitals, define gender, gender identity, and gender role stereotypes, and discuss the range of ways people express gender and how gender role stereotypes may limit behavior.

The document also provides links to <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IJ2hD7bECD1gkWoDND5s5sRYG37RYPRf/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suggested lesson plans.</a> One of these lesson plans, titled “Understanding Our Bodies - The Basics,” tells students that “There are some body parts that mostly just girls have and some parts that mostly just boys have.”

Another lesson plan, titled “Pink, Blue and Purple,” instructs students on gender identity, stating: “You might feel like you are a boy, you might feel like you are a girl. You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts. You might feel like you’re a girl even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘boy’ parts.”

Dr. Rashida Harrison is an <a href="https://jmc.msu.edu/about/directory/Harrison.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Social Relations and Policy</a> with the James Madison College at Michigan State University (MSU). She teaches courses on social theory, social movements, intersections of Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality, Global Citizenships, and Race and Citizenship.

Her MSU biography states:
“Harrison’s research focus on transnational black and multiracial feminist social movements uses the Black British feminist movement as a case study to examine the impact of Western imperialism on black women’s nationality and immigration rights, reproductive justice and agency within public organizations.”

<a href="https://divinity.duke.edu/faculty/robyn-henderson-espinoza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robyn Henderson-Espinoza</a>—who now goes by the name Roberto Che Espinoza—is a Consulting Faculty Member at Duke Divinity School, a <a href="https://www.umc.org/en/schools/seminaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seminary affiliated with the United Methodist Church</a>. She identifies as a “non-binary, trans-queer, Latinx” and was named one of the “<a href="https://www.americanprogress.org/article/10-faith-leaders-watch-2018/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">10 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2018</a>” by the Center for American Progress.
Espinoza describes her work as <a href="https://www.npr.org/2022/09/17/1123629725/some-christians-are-using-sacred-texts-to-embrace-a-broader-understanding-of-gen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bringing heaven to earth</a> by studying a “brown Palestinian Jew who was executed by the Roman Empire.” Much of her ministry intertwines biblical doctrine with left-wing social movements. 
Although an ordained minister, Espinoza appears to deny the divinity of Jesus Christ. In an article titled, “Decolonizing Jesus and his Teachings,” Espinoza offers <a href="https://www.ourcollectivebecoming.com/p/decolonizing-jesus-and-his-teachings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a course about “decolonizing” Jesus</a> and his “myths and teachings that have been institutionalized.” An accompanying meme of a “Colonizer Jesus” disputes that Jesus “died for your sins.”

In a separate interview, Espinoza further describes herself as a “public theologian” that seeks to <a href="https://vimeo.com/242163779?embedded=true&amp;source=vimeo_logo&amp;owner=70227614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“de-emphasize” biblical text</a> to engage in “harm reduction” of communities marginalized by the Church. To accomplish this, Espinoza amplifies the voices of queer and transgender persons whom she alleges have been harmed by Scripture.

An organization led by Espinoza—the “<a href="https://activistheology.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Activist Theology Program</a>”—offers an “<a href="https://activistheology.com/unraveling-whiteness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unraveling whiteness</a>” course for “white bodies” who wish to dismantle their white supremacy. A portion of the class proceeds will be considered a “reparations tax” and paid towards a “BIPOC” organization. 
On her <a href="https://twitter.com/irobyn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter account</a>, Espinoza alleges that all white Americans benefit from white supremacy and even claims that “whiteness” isn’t a race.

Espinoza opposes what she describes as “supremacy culture” within the Christian Church. <a href="https://juicyecumenism.com/2021/08/11/robyn-henderson-espinoza/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">During a lecture at Boston University</a>, she defined this as a Church tethered to “race, economics, and the military war machine.” Espinoza further claims that a lack of “life-affirming systems” by Christians leads to a culture of “white supremacy and capitalism and violence.”  
“&#8230;we don’t know how to be responsible agents in the world, which is why we get evangelical theology where a White man can have a bad day and go kill a handful of people.” 
In a separate, self-promotional video, she further claims the “religion” of the United States is white nationalism. Espinoza describes her own beliefs as “activist theology,” or the unification of progressive movements with biblical theologies.

Elsewhere, Espinoza defines activist theology as an offshoot of “liberation theology,” which is the<a href="https://www.acton.org/pub/commentary/2008/04/02/marxist-roots-black-liberation-theology" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> ideological godchild of Marxism</a>. The theory grew out of <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/10/12/5-major-reasons-liberation-theology-is-terrible-theology/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">left-leaning Churches and social movements in the 1960s.</a> Adherents promote the “liberation” of oppressed groups from economic or social oppression, namely that of systemic racism.  
During her speech at a “<a href="https://www.ourcollectivebecoming.com/p/becoming-as-praxis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Theology Beer Camp</a>,” Espinoza further defined activist theology as connecting “God-Talk” to the world’s contexts of “race, class, gender, sexuality, sex, and ability.” She calls on those in attendance to take a critical stance to fight “white supremacy and neo-fascism” in the Church. 
Espinoza deemphasizes God and religious texts in favor of progressive actions and self-affirmation throughout her work. “I don’t care what you believe,” she stated in the same speech, “I care about how you live your life. I care about your actions in the world.” 
In a separate article for her Substack, Espinoza declares that she has “no use for god” and <a href="https://www.ourcollectivebecoming.com/p/leaving-religion-for-a-better-world" target="_blank" rel="noopener">calls on her readers to define their meaning and build the world they want to see:</a> 
“&#8230;but what if Nietzsche was right that God is dead?&#8230;.What if making meaning is the religion of today? What if that is how we build a new world?”

<a href="https://sanford.duke.edu/people/faculty/darity-jr-william">William A. Darity, Jr.</a> is the Samuel Dubois Cook Distinguished Professor of Public Policy at Duke University. He also holds the positions of Professor of African and African American Studies, Economics, and is an Affiliate of the Duke Initiative of Science and Society, as well as an Affiliate for the Center for Child and Family Policy.
Identity Politics 
As <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/08/14/duke-university-economist-calls-for-12-trillion-in-slavery-reparations/">Breitbart</a> reports, Darity and his wife, Kirsten Mullen, co-authored a paper for the <a href="https://rooseveltinstitute.org/">Roosevelt Institute</a> in which they advocated for $12 Trillion in reparations for slavery. This amounts to roughly $800,000 to be paid per each African-American household in the country.

In the <a href="https://rooseveltinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/RI_Report_ResurrectingthePromiseof40Acres_202005.pdf">document</a>, titled, “Resurrecting the Promise of 40 acres: The Imperative of Reparations for Black Americans,” Darity describes the federal government as a “culpable party” that should pay reparations to black Americans for the nation’s history of slavery.

Darity <a href="https://rooseveltinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/RI_Report_ResurrectingthePromiseof40Acres_202005.pdf">states</a> that reparations are necessary so that white Americans do not continue to benefit from the profits of enslaved black Americans. In the same report, Darity <a href="https://rooseveltinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/RI_Report_ResurrectingthePromiseof40Acres_202005.pdf">alleges</a> that it is just as necessary for America to pay black Americans reparations as it was for Germany to pay reparations to survivors of the Holocaust.

In the conclusion of “Resurrecting the Promise,” Darity <a href="https://rooseveltinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/RI_Report_ResurrectingthePromiseof40Acres_202005.pdf">describes</a> reparations as the monetary centerpiece of all other forms of reparations and is required to eliminate the wealth gap, which is the “most glaring economic indicator” of racial injustice.

Darity <a href="https://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2020/12/why-studying-inequality-matters-minor-ineuality-studies-samuel-dubois-cook">states</a> in the letter that inequality is interlaced in the “modern world” and reinforces “racism, sexism, colorism and other forms of discrimination.”

<a href="https://divinity.duke.edu/faculty/robyn-henderson-espinoza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robyn Henderson-Espinoza</a>—who now goes by the name Roberto Che Espinoza—is a Consulting Faculty Member at Duke Divinity School, a <a href="https://www.umc.org/en/schools/seminaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seminary affiliated with the United Methodist Church</a>. She identifies as a “non-binary, trans-queer, Latinx” and was named one of the “<a href="https://www.americanprogress.org/article/10-faith-leaders-watch-2018/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">10 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2018</a>” by the Center for American Progress.

Espinoza describes her work as <a href="https://www.npr.org/2022/09/17/1123629725/some-christians-are-using-sacred-texts-to-embrace-a-broader-understanding-of-gen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bringing heaven to earth</a> by studying a “brown Palestinian Jew who was executed by the Roman Empire.” Much of her ministry intertwines biblical doctrine with left-wing social movements. 

Although an ordained minister, Espinoza appears to deny the divinity of Jesus Christ. In an article titled, “Decolonizing Jesus and his Teachings,” Espinoza offers <a href="https://www.ourcollectivebecoming.com/p/decolonizing-jesus-and-his-teachings" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a course about “decolonizing” Jesus</a> and his “myths and teachings that have been institutionalized.” An accompanying meme of a “Colonizer Jesus” disputes that Jesus “died for your sins.”

In a separate interview, Espinoza further describes herself as a “public theologian” that seeks to <a href="https://vimeo.com/242163779?embedded=true&amp;source=vimeo_logo&amp;owner=70227614" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“de-emphasize” biblical text</a> to engage in “harm reduction” of communities marginalized by the Church. To accomplish this, Espinoza amplifies the voices of queer and transgender persons whom she alleges have been harmed by Scripture.

An organization led by Espinoza—the “<a href="https://activistheology.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Activist Theology Program</a>”—offers an “<a href="https://activistheology.com/unraveling-whiteness/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unraveling whiteness</a>” course for “white bodies” who wish to dismantle their white supremacy. A portion of the class proceeds will be considered a “reparations tax” and paid towards a “BIPOC” organization. 

On her <a href="https://twitter.com/irobyn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter account</a>, Espinoza alleges that all white Americans benefit from white supremacy and even claims that “whiteness” isn’t a race.

<a href="https://scholars.duke.edu/person/tracie.canada">Tracie Canada</a> is an Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Duke University. According to her biography, she studies the “lived experiences of black college football players” and how “institutional systems and everyday spaces order, discipline, and enact violence against Black players.” 

In an article for Scientific American, Canada argues that black men <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230106195655/https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/damar-hamlins-collapse-highlights-the-violence-black-men-experience-in-football/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disproportionately suffer injuries in NFL</a> due to the league’s connection to the slave trade. 

The article was published just days after Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/bills-s-damar-hamlin-discharged-from-cincinnati-hospital-1-week-after-terrifying-collapse-201301750.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suffered a cardiac arrest</a> during a January 2023 game. Canada writes that his injury represents the “normalized” violence black men face in the NFL. This violence is propounded, she continues, by coaches who purposefully “segregate” black men into dangerous positions on the team: 
“…through a process called racial stacking, coaches racially segregate athletes by playing position. These demographic discrepancies place Black athletes at a higher risk during play.”
While admitting she has not studied the injury rates white players suffer, Canada compares the NFL to a “plantation field.” She states that similar to slavery, black bodies are exploited to the point of injury for the entertainment of spectators. 

“On these playing fields, ones that sociologist Billy Hawkins would argue are never theoretically far from plantation fields, financial stakeholders value Black bodies for their productive potential and physical prowess. The league encourages and facilitates rigorous training and disciplining so players can execute seemingly impossible corporeal demands, all in the service of entertainment, money-making, and insatiable fandom.”

She concludes that despite consisting of 70% black men, anti-blackness in the NFL is “inescapable.” In a separate article, Canada writes that <a href="https://www.aaihs.org/anti-blackness-and-college-football/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">white supremacy is foundational</a> to the sport itself:
“...the college football system continues to rely on its foundational white supremacist ideals.”
During the Spring 2023 semester, Canada will be teaching a course titled, “Embodied Blackness.” A <a href="https://aaas.duke.edu/courses/embodied-blackness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">description of the course</a> states: 
“How is race embodied and how are bodies racialized? How do gender, sexuality, class, size, perceived beauty, and ability mutually influence embodiment? This course considers anthropological and historical studies of the body, with a critical focus on Blackness. We investigate how Black human bodies are othered, valued, dehumanized, and experienced, across time and space, with a particular focus on the United States.”

<a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/walsh">David Austin Walsh</a> is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. His academic work centers on alleging active links between the far-right and conservatism over the past two centuries. Walsh <a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/egmt-1530-hateinnany-fascism-antifascism-and-global-far-right">teaches a course titled</a> Hateinnany: Fascism, Antifascism, and the Global Far Right.
In an attempt to tie far-right extremism to mainstream conservatism, Walsh has penned various articles attempting to connect mainstream conservatism with mass shootings. Writing for Arc Digital, he describes the <a href="https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/2019/08/05/el-paso-shooting-victim-list-names-identified-walmart-tx-texas/1918691001/">El Paso shooter’s</a> violent and bigoted ideology as <a href="https://arcdigital.media/the-el-paso-shooter-and-donald-trump-share-the-same-politics-so-why-doesnt-the-media-say-so-aff5062c26b1">identical to widely-held conservative stances</a>.

He described conservative opposition to the largely erroneous articles as being rooted in racial bigotry.

<a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/walsh">David Austin Walsh</a> is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. His academic work centers on alleging active links between the far-right and conservatism over the past two centuries. Walsh <a href="https://gened.as.virginia.edu/egmt-1530-hateinnany-fascism-antifascism-and-global-far-right">teaches a course titled</a> Hateinnany: Fascism, Antifascism, and the Global Far Right.

In an attempt to tie far-right extremism to mainstream conservatism, Walsh has penned various articles attempting to connect mainstream conservatism with mass shootings. Writing for Arc Digital, he describes the <a href="https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/2019/08/05/el-paso-shooting-victim-list-names-identified-walmart-tx-texas/1918691001/">El Paso shooter’s</a> violent and bigoted ideology as <a href="https://arcdigital.media/the-el-paso-shooter-and-donald-trump-share-the-same-politics-so-why-doesnt-the-media-say-so-aff5062c26b1">identical to widely-held conservative stances</a>.

<a href="https://uvahealth.com/findadoctor/profile/christine-m-burt-solorzano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christine M. Burt Solorzano</a> is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the <a href="https://www.virginia.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Virginia</a> (UVA), who described performing gender transitions on children as young as 9 years old in.

The UVA-affiliated hospital that employs Solorzano lists <a href="https://childrens.uvahealth.com/services/transgender-youth-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a range of procedures available to “trans, nonbinary, intersex, and asexual” children as young as 11 years old</a>. The “Transgender Youth Health Services” advertised include:

- Education about sex and contraception.

- Referrals for therapy to help manage anxiety, depression, and ongoing emotional issues.

- Puberty blockers that delay sex-related physical changes.

- Help in finding resources in the community.

- Referrals for gender-affirming surgeries and voice therapy.

The clinic requires an official diagnosis of gender dysphoria by a medical professional and consent from a parent or guardian to treat minors. However, the hospital’s definition of dysphoria is subjective; a diagnosis may only require that “a child’s sense of their gender differs from the sex assigned to them at birth.” Parents are not even required to attend initial appointments with their children.

In a lecture uncovered by The Daily Caller, <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2022/10/03/university-of-virginia-youth-gender-clinic-offers-puberty-blockers-chemical-castration-referrals-minors-undergo-breast-removal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Solorzano discusses performing “irreversible” surgeries</a> as a part of a gender transition. While claiming that many are only offered to those over 18, she states that children as young as 16 years old may receive double mastectomies. A masectomy–or “top surgery”—removes an otherwise healthy teenager's breasts as part of the female-to-male transition.

Further on, Dr. Solorzano discusses how she uses “cross-sex” hormones to block puberty in teens who transition. Acknowledging that while these drugs are not recommended for minors, she states that making a teen suffering from dysphoria undergo property is “cruel.” Dr. Solorzano believes that many teens are mature enough to make these “irreversible” decisions.

Conceding that children must first begin puberty before treatment, Dr. Solorzano recalls consulting a 9-year-old girl on receiving hormones. She then claims that puberty blockers are temporary and puberty can be resumed at any time by stopping treatment.

A common drug used to block puberty is called Lupron, which was <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/hormone-treatments-gender-dysphoric-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">designed to castrate sex offenders and is not approved by the FDA</a>. Even if the dosage is <a href="https://www.commonsense.news/p/top-trans-doctors-blow-the-whistle?s=r" target="_blank" rel="noopener">halted mid-transition, children are still unable to undergo puberty.</a>

While available via Youtube for over eight years, the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bzkf6OqNE2Y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university appears to have deleted Dr, Solorzano’s lecture following coverage by The Daily Caller as of publication.</a>

Winkelmann made headlines after a video surfaced of the professor openly blaming President Trump for the horrible massacre that occurred in Las Vegas just a few days before. In the video, Winkelmann can be heard saying, &#8220;When he got elected, I told my classes three semesters ago, some of us won&#8217;t be affected by this presidency, but others are going to die. Other people will die because of this.&#8221; The school has yet to take any action, and Winkelmann has yet to issue a statement on the matter.

<a href="https://www.unlv.edu/people/michael-green">Dr. Michael Green</a> is a Professor of History at UNLV. He said that Trump was "a syphilitic Nazi" in a Facebook discussion with a former student. In an editorial about Republicans, he also made many misleading statements about Cabinet nominees, describing them as "a health secretary who opposes health, a secretary of state who may love Vladimir Putin even more than his president, a housing and urban development secretary who thinks his department is a movie that starred Paul Newman, and an education secretary who hates public education and those who work in it, but thinks school is a good place for kids to learn to shoot grizzlies".

In 2022, Millán published a book titled <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Chabelitas-Heart-coraz%C3%B3n-Chabelita-English/dp/1945289244" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Chabelita&#8217;s Heart: El corazón de Chabelita.”</a> The publisher’s description for the book states:

Government, in other words, should “own” nature.

<a href="http://sociology.uoregon.edu/profile/norgaard/">Dr. Kari Norgaard</a> is a Professor of Sociology at University of Oregon. She has compared resistance to climate change mitigation efforts to people who resisted ending slavery.

Dr. Joseph “Joe” Lowndes is a <a href="https://polisci.uoregon.edu/profile/jlowndes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">political science professor</a> at the University of Oregon. He writes extensively on right-wing and conservative politics and is vocally pro-Critical Race Theory. He has published many articles and recently co-wrote a book called, <a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/producers-parasites-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity.” </a>

In April of 2020, <a href="https://newrepublic.com/article/157505/morbid-ideology-behind-drive-reopen-america" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Lowndes published an article</a> in the New Republic bashing conservative officials and citizens alike for their “dangerous views” on COVID-19. In the article, he accuses conservatives in the U.S. House of Representatives of being “pathological” for their refusal to wear masks when voting on the coronavirus relief bill. He also claims conservatives only want the country to remain open to “keep the current wealth stratifications in place and protect the rich from economic harm.”

Many articles and research publications written during lockdowns detailed how <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/13/business/small-businesses-coronavirus.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">small businesses would simply not be able to survive</a> if they continued to be locked down. <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19s-toll-on-u-s-business-200-000-extra-closures-in-pandemics-first-year-11618580619" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Wall Street Journal</a> noted that roughly 200,000 businesses permanently closed because of the pandemic. Lockdowns also caused many people in the United States to lose their jobs - approximately 9.6 million Americans were let go in 2020 due to COVID-19.

He accuses conservatives as demonizing anyone against their ideals.

<a href="https://www.heritage.org/conservatism/commentary/defining-the-principles-conservatism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Conservative principles </a>are founded in the belief that the government should have limited involvement in the everyday life of American citizens. The federal government’s power should be restricted to what is outlined in the constitution. American individuals and families should have the right to decide what is best for their religion, health, and welfare without government involvement. Taxes should be limited only to what is necessary to fund constitutionally appropriate functions. None of these principles have any bearing on someone’s race, religion, or nationality.

<a href="https://merrill.umd.edu/directory/deneen-brown" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DeNeen Brown</a> is an Associate Professor of Journalism at the University of Maryland who has vowed to leave America over systemic racism and oppression.

In a Washington Post op-ed—titled, “<a href="https://archive.ph/Kxlhi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Case for Leaving America to Escape Racism</a>”—Dr. Brown reveals that she grew up in the black power movement as she “never really felt at home in America." She then recounts an alleged racial incident in elementary school in which she describes her white classmates as “oppressors” and vows never to internalize their racism.

This would later inspire her work as a journalist to document racism and Black people whom she claims still suffer under “economic, political, and cultural oppression.” This is reflected in another article in which Dr. Brown alleges that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08/08/modern-day-mississippi-lynchings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">racially-motivated lynchings are a regular occurrence, but provides no evidence to verify her claims</a>.

Dr. Brown explains she began looking for a new place to live abroad after state legislators across the county banned teaching critical race theory in schools. Further citing her concern over the eruption of “racist terror” embodied by January 6th “insurrectionists,” Dr. Brown expresses a desire to live in a country without “entrenched racism” where she has the freedom “to move among people who look like me.”

Dr. Brown further expresses a desire to live in a place where she will not have to discuss her nation’s racism. In a previous Washington Post op-ed, she lamented how<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/06/17/black-people-are-tired-trying-explain-racism/?itid=ap_deneenl.brown" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> black people at large are “exhausted” over explaining racism to white people</a>. In separate tweets, she further explains the burden of racism must be placed at the feet of white society and urges others to study radicals like Che Guevara to learn how to do so.

Comparing her fight against racism to “punching a brick wall,” she concludes that it’s far easier to leave the country entirely, as she can no longer stand being a black person walking through “white institutions.”

During an interview with <a href="https://dbknews.com/2022/11/21/umd-spanish-professors-add-anti-racism-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Diamondback</a>, Chi-Miranda explained how she incorporates anti-racism into her curriculum. Although her Spanish language classes focus on grammar and composition, she admitted the modules are used to discuss racism and phobias:  

“[This] is a great introduction for the anti-racism module because it allows one to establish a personal connection to the text, but also it allows them to get a critical approach to it. And it opens doors for them to have a critical attitude and cultural approach to it,” 

Chi-Miranda provided one module to The Diamondback in which her students pretend to dislike diversity. She said this was an example of xenophobia  and recited the following line:  

“I don’t want you to make friends with other cultures nor do I want you to enjoy the diversity of the world.” 

A sophomore who was interviewed by Diamondback  praised the initiative, stating that American schools have a “whitewashed curriculum:” 

“I think that’s really important because America has a tendency to leave out certain parts of history in their textbooks and teach a very whitewashed curriculum, so it is really important that Maryland and these professors are acknowledging that we have kind of neglected several important parts of history.”

Chi-Miranda’s comments were delivered in an article featuring six Spanish professors who also integrated anti-racist themes into their courses. One professor, Jose Magro, stated this is part of an attempt to put an end to the “colonized learning” that takes place at the university.

<a href="https://www.arlis.umd.edu/caroline-orr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Caroline Orr</a> is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security at the University of Maryland. According to her university profile, Orr studies misinformation, and disinformation, and how each contributes to “online extremism.”

Orr attributes most domestic violence and radicalization to the political right. On her personal <a href="https://twitter.com/RVAwonk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter account</a>, she claims the memes posted by these groups to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In a substack article titled, “<a href="https://weaponizedspaces.substack.com/p/violent-extremism-in-america-is-a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Violent extremism in America is a far-right phenomenon</a>,” she writes that attacks by right-wing groups are “surging” and outpace left-wing and Islamist violence. Orr further claims that any who suggest otherwise are attempting to distract from the burgeoning connections between extremists and mainstream conservative groups:  

“Violent extremism is overwhelmingly a problem of far-right extremism, not far-left extremism, and it doesn’t help anyone to misrepresent the threat by turning it into a “both sides” issue when the sides are not even close to equal.”

Elsewhere, not only does Orr dismiss the existence of left-wing violence, she attempts to excuse it. In a separate article, titled “<a href="https://medium.com/arc-digital/in-defense-of-antifa-62c699d86dc5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In Defense of Antifa</a>,” she condemns conservatives for attempting to “vilify” the group:

“It’s easy to see why far-right extremists have worked so hard to vilify antifascists, who represent the most consistent opponents of far-right extremism and the most steadfast allies of those targeted by far-right violence.”

At first, Orr denies the existence of Antifa in her article, describing the group only as a “collection of tactics and philosophies.” She then pivots and praises Antifa for their “quieter activities” such as “research, monitoring, and surveillance of far-right extremist groups, community organizing, and advocating for historically marginalized populations.” Orr claims this is needed to stop “white supremacist” groups from organizing. 

Writing that activists must be intolerant of violent or bigoted speech, Orr claims that direct action is necessary to prevent the far-right from organizing. Comparing Antifa to Jews who resisted Nazi occupation, Orr argues that when violence from Antifa occurs, it's committed in the name of “self-defense:” 

“...consider the possibility that some violence is a regrettable but unavoidable part of preventing much greater violence by fascists.”

The Professor Watchlist team reached out to Orr for comment prior to publication. Instead of responding, Orr posted the inquiry on her personal Twitter account and accused the author of committing libel.

<a href="https://provost.yale.edu/people/jason-killheffer">Jason Killheffer</a> is the Assistant Provost of Academic Integrity Programs at Yale University. As part of an undercover operation by James O’Keefe and Project Veritas, Killheffer called the Constitution propaganda. Daniel Martinez HoSang is <a href="https://politicalscience.yale.edu/people/daniel-hosang" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an Associate Professor</a> of Ethnicity, Race &amp; Migration and American Studies at Yale University. He has written many publications and focuses his work on racism and race in politics. He holds strong opinions about conservatives and has both written and lectured several times on the subject.

The book, titled “<a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/producers-parasites-patriots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Producers, Parasites, Patriots: Race and the New Right-Wing Politics of Precarity</a>,” discusses white supremacy in conservative politics. In the book, Dr. HoSang accuses conservatives of being racist and participating in “multiracial white supremacy.”

According to Dr. HoSang, white conservatives work to maintain their economic power while also highlighting and praising minority conservatives in an effort to portray the concept that they aren’t racist.

Dr. HoSang has also recently become involved in K-12 learning. He was one of the founders of an organization in Connecticut called the <a href="https://antiracistteaching.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racist Teaching and Learning Collective</a>, or ARTLC. The organization works with students and teachers alike to push anti-racism, and in turn, Critical Race Theory, in K-12 schools across Connecticut. In an article for the CT Mirror, Dr. HoSang alleges that “if we want to address racism in society at large, we have to address it in policing, and housing, and health care — but we also need to address it in the 3rd grade music classroom, in the 7th grade social studies classroom.”

Dr. HoSang also leads workshops for K-12 teachers that perpetuate the ideals that racism runs deep in education and teaching across all subjects. He helps teachers create curriculum centered on anti-racism and Critical Race Theory.  In the summers of 2020 and 2021, Dr. HoSang was a core faculty member of the AAPF’s Critical Race Theory Summer School lecture series for teachers and scholars. The program’s purpose is to counter conservative and republican efforts to keep Critical Race Theory out of the classroom.

According to the DailyMail, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11418747/Yale-sophomore-student-20-reveals-hid-attempted-suicide-college-raped.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Paul Hoffman is the psychologist</a> in charge of student mental health at Yale University. Hoffman is at the center of a story involving Yale’s policies that ban suicidal students from campus. 

DailyMail said, “To return to class, [students] must reapply - writing an essay, and sending in letters of recommendation…Those who left for mental health reasons also had to demonstrate to Yale that they’d addressed their problems.”

Hoffman’s <a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/paul-hoffman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a> says he’s Chief of Mental Health and Counseling, Voluntary Faculty for Departments and Organizations, and the <a href="https://yalehealth.yale.edu/directory/clinicians/paul-hoffman-phd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of Mental Health</a> and Counseling for Yale. No further information is available regarding Hoffman’s employment.

After a student attempted suicide, Hoffman attended an unpublicized Zoom call between the student, her parents, and Yale representatives. <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/11/11/yale-suicides-mental-health-withdrawals/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post reported</a>, “In an interview, Hoffman and other Yale officials declined to discuss Yale’s withdrawal policies or specific student cases.”

Washington Post continued, “As soon as the Zoom call with Hoffman ended, hospital staffers handed [the student her cellphone]. She began typing out the email Hoffman had asked her to send.” The email eventually played a role in the student’s expulsion. 

Yale’s <a href="https://yalecollege.yale.edu/policies-procedures/leave-absence-withdrawal-and-reinstatement#:~:text=Any%20student%20may%20voluntarily%20withdraw,activities%2C%20or%20use%20University%20facilities." target="_blank" rel="noopener">mandatory medical withdrawal and reinstatement</a> policy says, 

"Any student may voluntarily withdraw; Yale College also reserves the right to require students to withdraw in certain cases. Students on withdrawal may not stay in residencies on campus, attend classes, participate in extracurricular activities, or use University facilities. They may come to campus only upon receiving prior permission from their residential college dean or the Dean of Student Affairs.”

<a href="https://medicine.yale.edu/psychiatry/psychology/profile/christy_olezeski/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christy Olezeski</a> is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University. She serves as the Director and Co-Founder of the Yale Pediatric Gender Program. 

In a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/yale-professor-blasted-program-working-3-year-olds-gender-journey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-deleted video</a>, Olezeski states, “the Yale gender program, is an interdisciplinary program working with gender-expansive individuals 3-25.” Continuing, she says the program “helps individuals who are questioning their gender identity as transgender or non-binary” and vows to help children on “their gender journey.”

The <a href="https://www.yalemedicine.org/departments/pediatric-gender-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">program’s website</a> claims that surgeries are only preformed on individuals over the age of 18. The website further alleges, “Social transition is the only medically accepted form of gender-affirming care–and the only form of care we provide–for that age group.” 

Continuing it states, “Some youth are exploring their identity. Others know that how they feel inside does not match up with the gender they were assigned at birth. We help sort through these questions.” 

Yale has since deleted the YouTube video in which Olezeski discusses the gender program. She has also made her personal social media pages private.

<a href="https://africam.berkeley.edu/people/spring-2022-lecturer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Peace and Love El Henson</a> is a Lecturer and Black Studies Collaboratory Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. According to her university biography, El Henson “primarily focuses on black queer femmes, state violence, pornography, and ethnography.” 
El Henson’s research is twofold:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"> “The first uses black femmes’ theatrical performances from online interracial pornography to read real-life state policing encounters and vice versa.” El Henson’s goal  is to “denude the unconscious racialized pornographic BDSM (Bondage and Discipline/Domination and Submission/Sadism and Masochism/Sadomasochism) structured into interracial relations across sites of chattel slavery, professional pornography, public schools, universities, neighborhoods, and beyond.”</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Her second area of research “offers ethnographic case studies on black femmes who use erotic performance as a mode of survival, artistry, and pleasure amid genocide of low-income black neighborhoods in Oakland, CA.”</li>

Dr. El Henson wrote a report in 2017 when she was in Graduate School at the University of Texas, Austin which she titled, <a href="https://repositories.lib.utexas.edu/bitstream/handle/2152/63533/ELHENSON-MASTERSREPORT-2017.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Scenes of Subjection’ &amp; Subjectivity: Punishment, Torture, Captivity, Annihilation and Genocide of (Queer) Black Girls and Women in the ‘Afterlife of Slavery.’”</a> In the abstract, El Henson wrote that she explores: “the punishment, torture, captivity, annihilation and ultimate genocide black girls and women are subjected to by white supremacist, antiblack, hetero-patriarchal, hetero-sexist, and heteronormative school staff, police and state forces in public schools and beyond.”
In the report, El Henson claims that there has been an “antiblack genocide in the United States” throughout the country’s history. 
El Henson uses the term “queer” to describe black girls, black women, and black people “as a modifier to signify black communities who embody a range of gender identities, performances and sexualities in and out of U.S. black and white socially accepted norms—as classification of norm fluctuates by social group. This means that these terms can embody a range of black people who are bisexual, asexual, lesbian, transgender, heterosexual and more.”
In the report’s introduction, El Henson relates an experience she had when volunteering at her “old middle school in a hood of Oakland, CA.” A female student named Myra was dismissed from a class with a referral because her shirt was “too distracting and inappropriate.” Myra responded to the teacher, who was a man, by saying “F*** you,” whereupon she left the classroom. El Henson claims the teacher gave her a referral because he “could not resist over-sexualizing young black girls bodies,” and also due to his “perversions” and “[h]is uncontrollable sexual desire and arousal for a black girl” which “was ‘inappropriate’ and the true distraction to the classroom space.” However, she provides no evidence indicating that the teacher felt the way that she describes him to have felt. 
<a href="https://ktla.com/news/california/uc-berkeley-to-offer-a-nicki-minaj-course-for-spring-semester/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to KTLA,</a> for the Spring semester of 2023, Dr. El Henson will teach a course entitled “AAS 140.2: Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee &amp; Hip Hop Feminisms.” El Henson says that the course will address the influence Minaj has had on the hip-hop industry and how it relates to the “broader historical-social structures and hip-hop feminisms.” However, KTLA reports the course is still being evaluated by the university’s administration. On a Twitter thread about the course, Nicki Minaj <a href="https://twitter.com/dr_peaceandlove/status/1578191853433761794" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a>, “I’d love to stop by [the class].”

<a href="https://ethnicstudies.berkeley.edu/people/hatem-bazian/">Hatem Bazian</a> is a professor of Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the <a href="https://zaytuna.edu/academics/faculty/hatem-bazian">co-founder and assistant professor </a>at Zaytuna College, which is the only accredited American college in which the curriculum is based on Islamic fundamentals. Bazian’s resume is littered with antisemitic and pro-terror incidents, both on and off-campus.

When attending San Francisco State University, Bazian accused the student newspaper of being <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/19590/profiles-in-hate-hatem-bazian">infiltrated by “Jewish spies</a>,” and allegedly denied Jewish students jobs while serving as Student Body President, claiming their support of Israel exhibited their racism.

Bazian’s activism grew more militant with time. At an Islamic conference in 1999, he was quoted by the Detroit Free Press reciting an Islamic Hadith <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/8865/hatem-bazian-personal-story">calling for the slaughter of Jews</a>.

After 79 members of Students for Justice in Palestine were arrested for disrupting a Holocaust memorial, Bazian asserted that the university's actions were racially motivated. During the subsequently organized protests, Bazain <a href="https://www.jweekly.com/2018/10/22/berkeley-city-councils-shameful-tolerance-of-anti-semitism/">insinuated that powerful Jews controlled the University and orchestrated the arrests</a>.

Bazian’s thinly veiled antisemitism is seamlessly <a href="https://canarymission.org/professor/Hatem_Bazian">interlaced with his anti-Israel demagoguery</a>. A proponent of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement,  Bazian has called for the dismantlement of the state of Israel and has praised the terrorist group Hamas. Bazian <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfv5yaKxNgo&amp;ab_channel=HamasOnCampus">openly called for a domestic insurrection</a> within America. Calling the crowd to arms at a 2003 anti-war rally, Bazian called for an “Intifada” to start in America.

The Intifada was then in the midst of its third year of blood-soaked carnage in Israel. Before it abated in 2006, <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/comprehensive-listing-of-terrorism-victims-in-israel">over one thousand men, women, and children would perish</a> from sniper fire and suicide attacks on buses, markets, and restaurants. The most gruesome attacks included the <a href="https://www.algemeiner.com/2020/10/26/what-the-ramallah-lynchings-taught-us-about-palestinian-incitement/">public lynching and disembowelment of two Israeli soldiers</a>, and the <a href="https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/18-years-after-sbarro-suicide-attack-pa-has-paid-910823-to-the-culprits-598106">bombing of a Sbarro pizzeria</a>, killing 15 civilians, including 7 children and a pregnant woman.

Extending to the classroom and beyond, Bazian has co-founded two anti-Israel groups: <a href="https://canarymission.org/organization/SJP">Students for Justice in Palestine</a> (SJP), and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP).

Bazian co-founded SJP with fellow professor <a href="https://professorwatchlist.org/professor/snehalshingavi">Snehal Shingavi</a> in 2001 in solidarity with Palestinian groups, as the Intifada raged in Israel. The group is known for its belligerent tactics and hostility towards Jewish and pro-Israel students on campus. SJP openly calls for the destruction of Israel and has never been shy about their support for Hamas. <a href="https://canarymission.org/individual/Azka_Fayyaz">A student senator and member of SJP</a> at UC Davis <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/new-film-depicts-jewish-students-growing-insecurity-on-campus/">welcomed “Hamas and sharia law"</a> to campus.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SF2qAJl65k&amp;ab_channel=CanaryMission">American Muslims for Palestine</a>, of which Bazian serves as Chairman, is rooted in the now-defunct Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP). Facing scrutiny by the federal government over its ties to overseas jihadist groups, IAP ceased operations in 2003 to avoid prosecution. Many of the staff then <a href="https://docs.house.gov/meetings/FA/FA18/20160419/104817/HHRG-114-FA18-Wstate-SchanzerJ-20160419.pdf">reconstituted under the new banner of AMP with Bazian as Chairman</a>. Screenshots from IAP’s former website show that the group openly encouraged Islamic terrorism and what can only be described as ethnic cleansing of Jews.

Bazian is a tenured professor at one of the world’s most prestigious colleges. Tens of thousands of students have passed through his classroom while accruing many thousands more in debt, over his many decades in academia. His radicalism isn’t hidden—Bazian has openly embraced and preached the most radical, violent, and bigoted positions imaginable and sought to inspire future leaders with those same values.

<a href="https://www.law.berkeley.edu/our-faculty/faculty-profiles/john-powell/">John A. Powell</a> is a Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. During a<a href="http://www.whiteprivilegeconference.com/"> White Privilege Conference</a>, Powell was caught on film saying that the Bush Administration deliberately took money away from strengthening the levees during Hurricane Katrina because the levees were protecting black people.

<a href="https://vcresearch.berkeley.edu/faculty/nancy-scheper-hughes">Nancy Scheper-Hughes</a> is the Chancellor’s Professor Emerita in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkely. Her university biography <a href="https://vcresearch.berkeley.edu/faculty/nancy-scheper-hughes">states</a> that Scheper-Hughes approaches her work through a “politically engaged perspective” to examine “structural and political violence.”

Anti-Second Amendment 
Immediately following the Pulse nightclub shooting, in which a Muslim man who pledged allegiance to ISIS <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/multiple-injuries-shooting-orlando-nightclub-police/story?id=39789552">entered Pulse, a gay nightclub, and opened fire, killing 50 individuals</a>, Scheper-Hughes <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160621134259/http://blogs.berkeley.edu/2016/06/19/radical-evil-a-reflection-on-the-orlando-massacre/">published</a> an article on the Berkeley Blog, a university website, to reflect on the events of the previous evening, titled, Radical evil: A reflection on the Orlando massacre.

In her article, Hughes <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160621134259/http://blogs.berkeley.edu/2016/06/19/radical-evil-a-reflection-on-the-orlando-massacre/">describes</a> the Pulse nightclub as a “sacred space” that was attacked by a man she describes as “radically evil.” However, she then blames the killings on hate speech of the “trumpers'' and the <a href="https://home.nra.org/">National Rifle Association</a>.

Referring to the Second Amendment in the post, Scheper-Hughes <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160621134259/http://blogs.berkeley.edu/2016/06/19/radical-evil-a-reflection-on-the-orlando-massacre/">states</a> that we have “failed as a democracy” to let “one amendment trump” all other amendments, leading to killings like the one in Orlando. She alleges that massacres throughout American history are typically committed by “orthodox conservatives” that suffer from a "perversity of heart."

Censorship
In mid-2017, the Berkely College Republicans <a href="https://twitter.com/BerkeleyCRs/status/884816647546064896">announced</a> on the group's Twitter account that they would host popular commentator Ben Shapiro. In an article for the website, CounterPunch, Scheper-Hughes <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/09/13/the-great-wall-of-uc-berkeley-vs-baby-face-shapiro/">decries</a> the decision to host Shapiro at the university, describing him as a “smart aleck, wisecracking, racist, sexist, misogynist, Islamophobic jerk.” She goes on to describe Shapiro as a “very dangerous, extremely controversial, physical threat” to Berkeley’s student body.

Scheper-Hughes further <a href="https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/09/13/the-great-wall-of-uc-berkeley-vs-baby-face-shapiro/">describes</a> Ben Shapiro in her article as a member of the “alt-light” that engages in hate speech. Hughes states that the First Amendment is a “work in progress” and that the amendment is “ignorant” and inadequately able to combat “hate speech.”

While acknowledging that the university is “stuck” with the protections that the First Amendment affords Ben Shapiro, Scheper-Hughes implies that free speech can be regulated to ban hate speech.

<a href="https://jewishstudies.berkeley.edu/people/ron-hendel/">Dr. Ronald Hendel</a> is a Professor of the Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies at the University of California-Berkeley. At the beginning of Hendel’s class, titled “Jewish Civilization I: The Biblical Period,” he told students not to take his class if they think the Bible is infallible. After one student started questioning and challenging him, Hendel told the student “If you disagree with the approach we use, that’s an F.”

<a href="https://polisci.berkeley.edu/people/person/andrew-little">Dr. Andrew Little</a> is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of California in Berkeley. According to his university <a href="https://vcresearch.berkeley.edu/faculty/andrew-little">biography</a>, Dr. Little’s research focuses on authoritarian politics, communication and information manipulation, and conflict.

While working as a professor at Cornell University, Dr. Little vocally opposed the hiring of conservative professors by the university. In an interview with The Cornell Daily Sun in October 2015, he stated that <a href="https://cornellsun.com/2015/10/15/cornell-faculty-donations-flood-left%E2%80%88filings-show/">the quality of research and academic integrity would suffer if universities hired conservative professors</a>.

<a href="http://rhetoric.berkeley.edu/faculty-profile/james-i-porter-1">Dr. James Porter</a>, a Professor of Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkely and formerly of the University of California, Irvine, was one of 60 professors who supported the ban of the American flag from an "inclusive" area at UC Irvine. He signed a letter claiming that the American flag is a symbol of nationalism and racism.

<a href="https://ethnicstudies.berkeley.edu/people/ramon-grosfoguel-1/">Ramon Grosfoguel</a> is an associate professor of Chicano and Latino Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. According to his university biography, Grosfoguel also specializes in decoloniality and the study of Islamophobia.

Grosfoguel is notable for his vocal opposition to the state of Israel and support for BDS. In an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu1PCTNGgB8&amp;ab_channel=IHRCtv">interview</a> with the Islamic Human Rights Commission during Al-Quds Day (an <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/on-quds-day-irans-leader-says-zionism-a-virus-that-must-be-eliminated/">Iranian holiday</a> dedicated to the destruction of Israel) not only did he claim that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians, but that Israel is a threat to peace across the world. Grosfoguel claimed that Israel is infiltrating nations and aligning itself with openly fascist organizations in order to strangle freedom of speech.

Grosfoguel also claims that Jews <a href="https://www.okcir.com/Articles%20VII%202/Grosfoguel-FM.pdf">cynically use the Holocaust</a> to elicit sympathy from the world in order to commit atrocities against Arabs;

“The simplistic identity politics of the Holocaust hegemonic narrative that essentialized Jewish identity as homogenous eternal victims and always intentionally innocent ended with Gaza.”   

“These simplistic and reductionist narratives about the Holocaust and Jewish identity were exploited by the Zionists for the last 60 years to legitimate their fundamentalist Jewish state built upon the practices and methods of settler colonialism against the Palestinians.”                  

“Hitlerism as a continuation of colonial racist ideology came back to hunt Palestinians this time at the hands of European Jews who ironically were escaping from the Nazi Holocaust.” 

“...the Holocaust was always manipulated, abused, and institutionalized by the Israeli settler colonialist state from its foundation in 1948 until today to justify its colonial domination, expansion, and terror.”

Grosfoguel specializes in anti-colonial rhetoric. Rather than a past vestige, Grosfoguel maintains that colonialism is an ongoing attempt by Western nations—particularly Israel and the United States, to maintain dominance throughout the world. Grosfoguel lectures that the capitalistic, Christian-centered West is able to bleed poorer nations dry to maintain their wealth. He claims that Christianity itself has given rise to genocides around the world, as <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z8ISZolAMw&amp;ab_channel=IHRCtv=2m4s">“pre-modern” societies were far more peaceful</a> than modern, Western nations.

To Grosfoguel, the concept of human rights is a Western farce that is used to justify foreign invasions. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7jFaJf-aVE&amp;ab_channel=IHRCtv=9m46s">He has claimed</a> that America is a “rogue state” that has murdered upwards of 70 million people.

“Here comes the quintessential rogue state in the world, USA, calling other nations rogue states….This is really amazing, because this country, the last 60 years, has killed more than 70 million people.”  

In the same lecture, he held nothing back when grotesquely claiming that former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfield <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7jFaJf-aVE&amp;ab_channel=IHRCtv=7m0s">should have been put to death</a> alongside Sadam Hussein for his crimes as an imperialist:

“So Donald Rumsfield should have been sitting alongside Sadam Hussein and been judged, ok? And been hanged together with him.”  

Grosfoguel travels frequently to speak about his views on decolonization and is renowned among the Left for his views on the subject. In 2018, he was invited to deliver <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pwX2ZQl0C0&amp;t=3173s&amp;ab_channel=LuiginoBracciRoa-Situaci%C3%B3nenVenezuela">opening remarks</a> addressing this topic at a Caracas-based conference hosted by Nicholas Maduro. Grosfoguel was well received at the conference and can be seen warmly greeting the dictator below.

<a href="https://ethnicstudies.berkeley.edu/people/keith-feldman-1/">Keith Feldman</a> is a head graduate advisor and an associate professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies at the University of California-Berkeley.

Speaking before the Berkeley-based conference Critical Discourses on Islamophobia, Feldman reserved most of his speech to criticize Barack Obama for killing jihadists. Labeling the administration’s <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/20132/uc-berkeley-and-the-islamophobia-lobby">use of drones to eliminate terrorists as Islamaphobic</a>—or what he termed as “racialization from above—he asked, “What happens when Islamophobia takes to the skies?”

Feldman compared the death of Osama bin Laden to a Jim Crow-era lynching. As he was describing his killing as the “residue of late nineteenth-century colonial settler violence,” Feldman <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/20132/uc-berkeley-and-the-islamophobia-lobby">displayed a black lynching victim in the background to serve as an analogy to his death.</a>

In 2015 while discussing his book, <a href="https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/a-shadow-over-palestine">A Shadow Over Palestine</a>, he claimed that <a href="https://www.meforum.org/campus-watch/22864/berkeley-prof-race-in-america-is-like-occupation">American ghettos are akin to the Warsaw ghetto</a> during the Holocaust, which itself is akin to modern-day Palestinian refugee camps.

<a href="https://gse.berkeley.edu/zeus-leonardo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Zeus Leonardo</a> is a Professor in the<a href="https://gse.berkeley.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Graduate School of Education</a> at the University of <a href="https://www.berkeley.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California-Berkeley</a>. According to his university profile, Dr. Leonardo’s courses include: “Race, Whiteness Studies, and Education” and “Proseminar: Social Critique of Education.” Much of Dr. Leonardo’s work utilizes critical race theory to analyze areas such as race, class, culture, and gender in education.

Dr. Leonardo is also listed as an Affiliated Faculty Member of the Critical Theory Designated Emphasis at UC Berkeley. As part of the Graduate School of Education, the program explores the “<a href="https://gse.berkeley.edu/academics/ma-and-phd-programs/critical-studies-race-class-and-gender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">root causes and effects of white supremacy and settler colonialism in education</a>,” according to the official website.

Upon completion, those enrolled will earn a certification of “Designated Emphasis and Specialization in Critical Theory.” The university flaunts critical theory’s association with the Frankfurt School of Economics on its website. The Frankfurt School of Economics was <a href="https://www.heritage.org/sites/default/files/2020-12/BG3567.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">composed of openly Marxist economists whose writings eventually formed the basis for critical race theory</a>.

<a href="http://criticaltheory.berkeley.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The page prominently hosts a picture of Angela Davis</a> alongside the post-modernist, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/herbert-marcuse-the-philosopher-behind-the-ideology-of-the-anti-fascists/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Herbert Marcuse</a>. Davis was a member of the Leninist-Black Panther Party as well as the <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/topten-history/hires_images/FBI-309-AngelaYvonneDavis.jpg/viewhttps://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/topten-history/hires_images/FBI-309-AngelaYvonneDavis.jpg/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives</a> list for her role in the shooting deaths of four during the Marin County Civic Center Attacks.

As <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2012/03/11/what-is-critical-race-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ben Shapiro writes in Breitbart News</a>, critical race theory is an intellectual branch of Marxism that views America and all of its institutions as being infected with white supremacy—to the point of some, including <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/nikolehannahjones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nikole Hannah-Jones</a>, even <a href="https://reason.com/2020/09/23/1619-project-nikole-hannah-jones-1776-founding-race-new-york-times/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claiming</a> America’s real founding was in 1619 when the first slave stepped foot in North America, and not 1776 when the American colonies declared independence from England.

Dr. Leonardo has additionally published a number of other articles on critical race theory, race, and education. These include titles such as, “<a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/23793406.2016.1167111?journalCode=rree20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tropics of Whiteness</a>,” “<a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/01596306.2013.822624" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Story of Schooling: Critical Theory and the Educational Racial Contract</a>,” and, “<a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/13613320120117180" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Souls of White Folk</a>.” Another is titled, “<a href="https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/10.4324/9780203880371/race-whiteness-education-zeus-leonardo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race, Whiteness, and Education</a>,” in which he affirms the “central role” racism plays in society.

Dr. Leonardo declares racism to be systematic rather than based on individuals and must be addressed as such. He outlines the paper’s intent to interrupt this “dangerous” assertion in order to confront “whiteness” and racism in education. Further, in the same paper, Dr. Leonardo advocates the blending of Marxism and whiteness studies to understand racism. He then addresses the “myth” that whites do not think of themselves exclusively along with racial terms and that capitalism has spread “whiteness” across the globe.

In a separate lecture, Dr. Leonardo lauds critical race theory in even more explicit terms. In a lecture titled, “Who is afraid of CRT?” hosted at George Washington University, the event was <a href="https://gwtoday.gwu.edu/who%E2%80%99s-afraid-critical-race-theory-and-what-exactly-it-anyway" target="_blank" rel="noopener">marketed as an examination of “critical race theory, marxism, and whiteness studies</a>”.

In the lecture, Dr. Leonardo states the intent of his work in whiteness studies is to solve the problem of “whiteness” itself.

“In whiteness studies, whiteness is  the problem to be posed, if not solved.”

<a href="https://www.law.berkeley.edu/our-faculty/faculty-profiles/khiara-bridges/#tab_profile" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Khiara Bridges</a> is a <a href="https://www.law.berkeley.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of California-Berkeley Law Professor</a>, critical race theorist, and an advocate for abortion. She has further claimed that men can give birth and has refused to say whether unborn babies are worthy of dignity.

Dr. Bridges condemned the Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.—<a href="https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/19-1392" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization</a>—as an <a href="https://news.berkeley.edu/2022/06/24/khiara-m-bridges-court-abortion-ruling-is-an-assault-on-women-and-democracy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“assault” against both women and democracy.</a> Dr. Bridges further alleged that <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/video/californians-express-outrage-over-roe-163817289.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banning abortion is a form of racism</a>:

“When you have a law that makes abortion unavailable, you have a law that makes unavailable a service upon which Black people disproportionately rely, so there’s a specific racial impact.”

Since the 1973 ruling, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/since-roe-abortion-has-killed-more-black-babies-than-the-entire-black-population-of-the-u-s-in-1960" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an estimated 20 million black children have been murdered via abortion</a>.

Speaking before a <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?521318-1/senate-judiciary-committee-hearing-abortion-access-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate hearing</a> regarding abortion policy, Dr. Bridges refused to address John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) question regarding disproportionate rates of black abortion. She again refused to answer when asked if an unborn baby has any value.

During her testimony, Dr. Bridges referenced “persons with the capacity for pregnancy” when speaking about individuals who sought abortions. When questioned by Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) if she was referring to pregnant women, Dr. Bridges replied that she was referring to all “cis-women, trans-men, and non-binary people.”

When further pressed if abortion is a women’s rights issue, Dr. Bridges accused Hawley of asking questions that exposed “trans people to violence.”

Dr. Bridges then asked Hawley if he believes that men can become pregnant. Astonished, Hawley replied, “No, I don’t think men can get pregnant,” she further accused him of denying that trans people exist.

<a href="https://english.berkeley.edu/profiles/386" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grace Lavery</a> is an Associate Professor for the English program at the University of California, Berkeley. His academic specialties are 19th-century British literature, Critical Theory, Cultural Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. He is a transgender professor who “transitioned” in 2018. He claims his “work in trans feminist studies is… focused on the belief that transition works; that it is truly possible to change sex.”

In February of 2022 <a href="https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/professor-suspended-twitter-hopes-queen-dies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lavery was suspended from Twitter</a> for tweeting “I hope the queen dies,” a few days after Queen Elizabeth II tested positive for Covid-19. He even tagged the British government in the tweet. Lavery <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10542993/Berkeley-professor-suspended-Twitter-tweeting-hopes-COVID-stricken-Queen-DIES.html?ito=social-twitter_dailymailUK" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told the Daily Mail</a>: ​​“I do not think they [Twitter] should ban people for hoping that public figures die, whether the person in question is Elizabeth Windsor, Donald Trump, or Jeremy Corbyn.” Since his suspension, Lavery has no longer been active on Twitter. 

<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/article?id=19010" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a> reported that Lavery tweeted the following statement on January 29, 2022: “i [sic] think that everyone is secretly as much of a pervert as we are, and we’ll win because of it.” Since Lavery’s Twitter account has been suspended, none of his tweets can be accessed. 

On the following day Lavery tweeted “i [sic] think we should seize all private property, so there’ll be nowhere for you adults to try your naughty little spanks except in the gutter with the rest of us… 3. Senile elderly woman masturbating surreptitiously during mass,” among several other explicit tweets. 

Lavery wrote the book <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Please-Miss-Heartbreaking-Staggering-Penis/dp/1541620658" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Please Miss: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Penis”</a>, which was released in February of 2022. The Amazon description for the book states:

“Grace Lavery is a reformed druggie, an unreformed omnisexual chaos Muppet, and 100 percent, all-natural, synthetic female hormone monster. As soon as she solves her “penis problem,” she begins receiving anonymous letters, seemingly sent by a cult of sinister clowns, and sets out on a magical mystery tour to find the source of these surreal missives…”

<a href="https://africam.berkeley.edu/people/spring-2022-lecturer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Peace and Love El Henson</a> is a Lecturer and Black Studies Collaboratory Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. According to her university biography, El Henson “primarily focuses on black queer femmes, state violence, pornography, and ethnography.” 

El Henson’s research is twofold:
<ul>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"> “The first uses black femmes’ theatrical performances from online interracial pornography to read real-life state policing encounters and vice versa.” El Henson’s goal  is to “denude the unconscious racialized pornographic BDSM (Bondage and Discipline/Domination and Submission/Sadism and Masochism/Sadomasochism) structured into interracial relations across sites of chattel slavery, professional pornography, public schools, universities, neighborhoods, and beyond.”</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Her second area of research “offers ethnographic case studies on black femmes who use erotic performance as a mode of survival, artistry, and pleasure amid genocide of low-income black neighborhoods in Oakland, CA.”</li>
</ul>
Dr. El Henson wrote a report in 2017 when she was in Graduate School at the University of Texas, Austin which she titled, <a href="https://repositories.lib.utexas.edu/bitstream/handle/2152/63533/ELHENSON-MASTERSREPORT-2017.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Scenes of Subjection’ &amp; Subjectivity: Punishment, Torture, Captivity, Annihilation and Genocide of (Queer) Black Girls and Women in the ‘Afterlife of Slavery.’”</a> In the abstract, El Henson wrote that she explores: “the punishment, torture, captivity, annihilation and ultimate genocide black girls and women are subjected to by white supremacist, antiblack, hetero-patriarchal, hetero-sexist, and heteronormative school staff, police and state forces in public schools and beyond.”

In the report, El Henson claims that there has been an “antiblack genocide in the United States” throughout the country’s history. 

El Henson uses the term “queer” to describe black girls, black women, and black people “as a modifier to signify black communities who embody a range of gender identities, performances and sexualities in and out of U.S. black and white socially accepted norms—as classification of norm fluctuates by social group. This means that these terms can embody a range of black people who are bisexual, asexual, lesbian, transgender, heterosexual and more.”

In the report’s introduction, El Henson relates an experience she had when volunteering at her “old middle school in a hood of Oakland, CA.” A female student named Myra was dismissed from a class with a referral because her shirt was “too distracting and inappropriate.” Myra responded to the teacher, who was a man, by saying “F*** you,” whereupon she left the classroom. El Henson claims the teacher gave her a referral because he “could not resist over-sexualizing young black girls bodies,” and also due to his “perversions” and “[h]is uncontrollable sexual desire and arousal for a black girl” which “was ‘inappropriate’ and the true distraction to the classroom space.” However, she provides no evidence indicating that the teacher felt the way that she describes him to have felt. 

<a href="https://ktla.com/news/california/uc-berkeley-to-offer-a-nicki-minaj-course-for-spring-semester/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to KTLA,</a> for the Spring semester of 2023, Dr. El Henson will teach a course entitled “AAS 140.2: Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee &amp; Hip Hop Feminisms.” El Henson says that the course will address the influence Minaj has had on the hip-hop industry and how it relates to the “broader historical-social structures and hip-hop feminisms.” However, KTLA reports the course is still being evaluated by the university’s administration. On a Twitter thread about the course, Nicki Minaj <a href="https://twitter.com/dr_peaceandlove/status/1578191853433761794" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a>, “I’d love to stop by [the class].”

<a href="https://ourenvironment.berkeley.edu/users/1688049" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elizabeth Hoover</a> is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley). According to her university profile, her “research focuses on Native American environmental health and food sovereignty movements.” Hoover has also “published articles about food sovereignty, environmental reproductive justice in Native American communities, the cultural impact of fish advisories on Native communities, tribal citizen science, and health social movements.”

Since childhood, Hoover has identified as a descendant of the Mohawk and Mi’kmaq Indian tribes. However, according to <a href="https://campusreform.org/article?id=20572" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Campus Reform</a>, she revealed that “she has no tribal connections after decades of claiming otherwise.” This discovery was based on “genealogical research.”

On her website, Hoover posted a <a href="https://www.profelizabethmhoover.com/identity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Statement about Identity”</a> providing her reaction to her genealogical discovery. In this short essay, she addresses her life experience under the assumption that she was a native. In the opening paragraphs, she provided background on her upbringing:  
“Our Native identity has structured not only our family activities but how we relate to other people and they to us. I have been a fancy shawl dancer and bead worker for over three decades, something my sisters and I learned at powwows when we were young, and this has brought us great joy. I have been grateful to the people of Akwesasne who took me in called me their chosen daughter, auntie, and friend, and who put me to work. When people told me ‘welcome home’ when I would come to visit, that meant something to me. In short, this identity has shaped my entire life and guided my work.”
Hoover concludes: 
“Now, without any official documentation verifying the identity I was raised with, I do not think it is right for me to continue to claim to be a scholar of Mohawk/Mi’kmaq descent, even though my mother is insistent that she inherited this history for a reason.”
According to <a href="https://dailycal.org/2022/11/01/campus-associate-professor-elizabeth-hoover-rescinds-claim-to-native-american-ancestry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Californian</a>, Hoover, who used to teach at Brown University, “has received criticism in light of her statement, with many coming forward to allege the harm she caused Native communities there, especially regarding a statement she wrote denouncing the Pokanoket Tribe’s calls for Land Back from Brown.”

“UC Berkeley considers the issue of Hoover’s ethnic identity to be a ‘deeply personal matter,’ according to a campus statement provided by campus spokesperson Janet Gilmore.” The college does not “consider race or tribal identity in making employment decisions, in light of allegations that Hoover was a part of a “cluster hire.”
