<a href="https://paulcollege.unh.edu/person/robert-woodward">Robert Woodward</a> is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Professor Woodward, according to an online schedule, usually teaches Health Economics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, he spent that time driving students to the polls in a car decorated with Democratic campaign posters - paid for by the Ready for Hillary Super PAC.

<a href="https://ceps.unh.edu/person/chanda-prescod-weinstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein</a> is an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy and a Core Faculty Member of the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/womens-gender-studies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Women’s and Gender Studies</a> Department at the <a href="https://cola.unh.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of New Hampshire</a>.

As a member of the organization, <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Particles for Justice</a>, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein was a primary organizer for the “Strike for Black Lives” in June of 2020.

Particles for Justice is a far-left organization composed of scientists and mathematicians who are <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/physicists-condemn-sexism-through-particles-for-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dedicated to ending what they allege as “rampant racism and sexism in STEM fields</a>.” The group was first organized in 2018 to protest a lecture by physicist Alessandro Strumia, in which he affirmed that biological differences exist between men and women.

In the Summer of 2020, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein—who identifies as a <a href="https://magazine.scienceforthepeople.org/web-extras/particles-for-justice-racial-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“black queer femme physicist”</a> and an “<a href="https://www.cprescodweinstein.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">activist for equality in science</a>”—and other scientists organized the strike among academics in solidarity with the <a href="https://m4bl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Movement for Black Lives</a> (MBL), also referred to as the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

According to an official letter for the group—co-authored by Dr. Prescod-Weinstein—the organizers allege black students feel unsafe on <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“predominantly white campuses” and professors face “anti-blackness” in academia</a>. The organizers called for <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/strike-details" target="_blank" rel="noopener">academics to cease their normal university duties and spend the day protesting or conducting “antiracist“ actions on behalf of BLM</a>. As of June 10th, 2020, the website listed 5,874 administrators and professors as having walked off their jobs during the strike.

In her own personal statement authored for the strike, Dr. Prescod-Weinstein describes her efforts organizing the strike and the ongoing national protests as <a href="https://www.particlesforjustice.org/note" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an attempt to “save her life" and “the lives of all black people.</a>” She further decries having to conform culturally and professionally to “whiteness,” and urges white people to take up anti-racist work in order to make black people feel more comfortable.

Dr. Prescod-Weinstein’s activism and views are further displayed on her <a href="https://twitter.com/IBJIYONGI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal Twitter account</a>. She consistently tweets condemnations of America and conservatives as racist, support for critical race theory, and accusations that Israel is committing genocide against Arabs:

In a separate paper for The University of Chicago—​​titled, “Making Black Women Scientists under White Empiricism: The Racialization of Epistemology in Physics”— Dr. Prescod-Weinstein <a href="https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.1086/704991#_i5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decries the concept of objectivity under “European ideas of science”</a> dominating her field through “colonial force.” She defines “white empiricism” as serving “white supremacist traditions in science” at the expense of black scientists.

The Professor Watchlist team reached out to Dr. Prescod-Weinstein for comment but did not receive a reply by the time of publication.

<a href="https://cola.unh.edu/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. David Finkelhor</a> is a Professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire. <a href="https://www.unh.edu/ccrc/person/david-finkelhor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to his university profile</a>, he is the Director of the Crimes against Children Research Center and co-Director of the Family Research Laboratory. Dr. Finkelhor is known for his research into child sexual abuse and related topics.

Dr. Finkelhor lectures on a wide variety of subjects such as “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sexual Abuse Prevention</a>,” “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsoYh5WF2Yc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Developmental Victimology</a>,” and more. He also participates in a variety of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-fViw7Uuxs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">child sexual abuse conferences</a>.

On March 23, 2022 Dr. Finkelhor participated in a webinar discussing the “<a href="https://twitter.com/libsoftiktok/status/1515916310814859264" target="_blank" rel="noopener">elements of voluntary participation</a>” by juveniles involved in sex crimes; saying that when trying to prevent sex crimes against children, it is key to realize that in some cases, it is the children themselves that are “initiating sexual activities with adults.” Dr. Finkelhor also suggested that he believes it is not “effective” to assume that a pedophilic relationship escalates because of a “predatory or criminally inclined adult.”

On June 25, 2020 in a webinar called “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpangX4UaO4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Let's Talk About Prevention</a>,” Finkelhor stated that “Another thing about diversity that is very important to recognize is that in spite of the stereotype, most of the adult offenders are not “pedophiles”... Many are opportunistic and situational and acting on relationships that develop, or opportunities that are made available to them.”  Dr. Finkelhor refers to “offenders” as ambivalent and stresses the importance of differentiating the labels between a pedophile and an offender.

Recently, there have been articles questioning Dr. Finkelhor's motives on the subject. <a href="https://thepostmillennial.com/professor-says-minors-can-be-enthusiastically-involved-in-initiating-sexual-activities-with-adults" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Post Millennial</a> reports his statements, “There's not good enough research on issues related to maturity with regard to sexual behavior that allows a clear demarcation here.”  He noted that there can be elements of voluntary participation in statutory sex crimes wherein juveniles engage in sex with adults who are at least five years older than they are. Statutory rape, he said, is “much narrower than statutory sex crimes in general.”

Dr. Finkelhor’s rating on Rate My Professor is a <a href="https://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=142310" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2.1 out of 5</a> with a number of reviews mentioning his teaching methods as “lecture heavy” and so on.

He underwent a psych evaluation after a series of questionable and possibly threatening tweets relating to Trump and the Second Amendment. He also went to Twitter after the election to complain that Rutgers had not publicly ensured the safety of students after Trump won. He also teaches a class called &#8220;Politicizing Beyonce&#8221;. He was <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2016/11/21/rutgers-places-adjunct-leave-tweets-he-says-were-based-rhetoric-president-elect">placed</a> on administrative leave from Rutgers 2016, and <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4750992/Former-Rutgers-professor-fired-tweeting-kill-Trump.html">fired from Montclair State</a> University after threatening to kill Trump.

<a href="https://sociology.rutgers.edu/faculty/affliliated-graduate-faculty/541-kumar-deepa">Dr. Deepa Kumar</a> is a Professor of Media Studies as well as Middle Eastern Studies at Rutgers University. She argued on Twitter that the U.S. military is worse than ISIS. Kumar wrote on Twitter, "Yes ISIS is brutal, but US is more so, 1.3 million killed in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan."

<a href="http://womens-studies.rutgers.edu/faculty/core-faculty/143-jasbir-puar">Dr. Jasbir Puar</a>, a professor at Rutgers University, was invited to speak at Vassar. Her lecture was titled “Inhumanist Biopolitics: How Palestine Matters.” In her lecture, she accuses Israel of “stunting” growth of Palestinian bodies through scientific experiment as well as harvesting their organs.

<a href="https://rcws10.rutgers.edu/faculty/Chikindas/">Professor Michael Chikindas</a>, Rutgers University, posted frequent anti-Semitic comments, at one point referring to Jewish people as “international fat Jewish pockets.” “These jewish [sic] motherf*****s do not control me. They can go f**k each other in their fat a***s - you see, I really do not have anything to loose [sic], hence nothing to be controlled,” he wrote in response to an article titled “The Globalists: Who Control Us!”.

<a href="http://history.rutgers.edu/faculty-directory/174-markowitz-norman">Dr. Norman Markowitz</a> is a Professor of History at Rutgers University. Dr. Markowitz is also an active member of the Communist Party USA since 1978.  He writes and teaches about communism using his “Marxist Perspective.” As a supporter of Obama, Markowitz said that it would be good if Obama’s policies were labeled socialist because it would bring socialism to the forefront and looked at more seriously as a viable option for Americans. He has been a longtime defender of the Communist spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and has said he has “enormous respect” for Howard Zinn, a Marxist historian.

<a href="http://www.polisci.rutgers.edu/cb-profile/userprofile/whfield">Dr. William Field</a>, a professor at Rutgers University, sent out an email to all political science majors and minors to protest against Condoleeza Rice serving as their commencement speaker. He was also said to have congratulated one of the lead organizers of the protest who had damaged university property.

<a href="https://law.rutgers.edu/directory/view/mbk69" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Margo Kaplan</a> is a Professor of Law at <a href="https://law.rutgers.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rutgers University Law School</a> in Camden, New Jersey. According to her university biography, she teaches courses on “Criminal Law, Health Law and Policy, and Sex Crimes” and explores the “legal limitations on intimate decisions.”

Dr. Kaplan has spent her academic career attempting to normalize pedophilia. In a paper for the <a href="https://scholarlycommons.law.wlu.edu/wlulr/vol72/iss1/4/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Washington and Lee Law Review</a>, she advocates for the reclassification of pedophilia as a mental disorder so that pedophiles may be awarded more civil rights:

“...we should not categorically deny pedophilia the civil rights protections afforded to other mental disorders without a convincing normative justification supported by cogent scientific evidence. Strengthening civil rights protections for those with pedophilia also increases access to treatment and support that helps prevent child abuse.”

In a similar piece for the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/06/opinion/pedophilia-a-disorder-not-a-crime.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York</a><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/06/opinion/pedophilia-a-disorder-not-a-crime.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Times</a>—titled, "Pedophilia: A Disorder, Not a Crime,"—Dr. Kaplan attempts a sickening effort to lure readers into sympathizing with pedophiles by characterizing pedophiles as adolescents with harmless, childhood crushes.

“THINK back to your first childhood crush. Maybe it was a classmate or a friend next door. Most likely, through school and into adulthood, your affections continued to focus on others in your approximate age group. But imagine if they did not. By some estimates, 1 percent of the male population continues, long after puberty, to find themselves attracted to prepubescent children. These people are living with pedophilia, a sexual attraction to prepubescents that often constitutes a mental illness. Unfortunately, our laws are failing them and, consequently, ignoring opportunities to prevent child abuse.”

Her intellectual sleight of hand is prevalent in both pieces. Kaplan blames the abuse of children partially on what she views as the severity in which society treats pedophilia, resulting in pedophiles abstaining from seeking treatment.

When later interviewed by <a href="https://www.phillymag.com/news/2014/10/06/pedophilia-not-a-crime-rutgers-margo-kaplan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Philadelphia Magazine</a>, Dr. Kapland claimed to be “shocked” at the amount of support she had received, accusing critics she did have of not even reading her article.

<a href="https://history.rutgers.edu/people/faculty/details/1143-bray-mark">Mark Bray</a> is a part-time lecturer in the Department of History at Rutgers University.

Bray first gained notoriety in 2017 when he <a href="https://www.mhpbooks.com/books/antifa/">authored</a> "The Anti-Fascist Handbook," and offered to <a href="https://campusreform.org/?id=14972">donate</a> half of the proceeds to ANTIFA.

Bray fully endorses ANTIFA’s embrace of violence as a tactic, and often describes it as “self-defense”. He has <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=9616">stated</a> that in order to “preemptively” shut down far-right events and gatherings,  “physical violence against white supremacists is both ethically justifiable and strategically effective.”

Soon after publication, he appeared on NBC to <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/antifa-violence-ethical-author-explains-why-n796106">defend</a> the use of force against opposing protestors. He claimed that as an illiberal organization, ANTIFA has and will continue to shut down the free speech of the far right.

Bray recently penned an op-ed in the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/06/01/trump-antifa-terrorist-organization/">Washington Post</a> in the midst of mass-rioting following the death of George Floyd. After expressing sympathy with the looters, Bray claims that police officers are, in fact, deadlier than ANTIFA.  He wrote, “...and in the United States, ANTIFA have never killed anyone, unlike their enemies in Klan hoods and squad cars.” 

After his views were <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/red-alert-politics/dartmouth-president-disavows-professor-justified-antifa-violence-self-defense">condemned</a> by Dartmouth University - his employer at the time - Bray soon began lecturing at Rutgers, where his university biography describes him as a “historian of human rights, terrorism, and politics in Modern Europe.”

<a href="https://asianlanguages.rutgers.edu/menu-i/69-richard-vanness-simmons">Richard VanNess Simmons</a> is a professor of Chinese and East Asian Studies and serves as the <a href="https://www.ciru.rutgers.edu/about-us/people-2">Director of the Confucius Institute</a> at Rutgers University. The Confucius Institute is funded by the Chinese Communist Party and serves as a focal point for the dissemination of propaganda and foreign espionage on American campuses.

<a href="https://africanastudies.rutgers.edu/people/core-faculty/people-list/30-faculty/140-brittney-cooper">Brittney Cooper</a> is an associate professor of Africana and Women’s and Gender Studies at Rutgers University. Much of her research and writing centers around the intersections of race, feminism, and gender. Cooper’s work has led her to develop a number of bizarre opinions:
<ul>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">While Cooper claims that most American Christians worship a God of “white supremacy and patriarchy,” she chooses to<a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/01/the_rights_made_up_god_how_bigots_invented_a_white_supremacist_jesus/"> worship a Jesus that was “queer”</a> and “married to a prostitute."</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">White families, like Mitt Romney’s,<a href="https://www.salon.com/2014/01/07/white_supremacy_wins_again_melissa_harris_perry_and_the_racial_false_equivalence/"> can’t properly raise black children</a>.</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Linear time is a product of a Euro-centric world, or in short,<a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/rutgers-professor-even-the-concept-of-time-is-racist/"> our concept of time is racist.</a></li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">A founding principle of our nation is that black people are inhuman, therefore<a href="https://www.salon.com/2015/04/29/black_americas_baltimore_schism_why_the_freddie_gray_tragedy_demands_serious_soul_searching/"> riots are really just resistance</a> against an unjust system.</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">BREXIT was the result of<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=7760"> white nationalism.</a></li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">And obesity in the black community is<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=13866"> caused by racism</a>.</li>
 	<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Cooper has publicly attacked conservatives on multiple occasions, most recently during a Livestream commentary on the DNC. Before launching into a tirade accusing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas for “demolishing the civil rights movement,”</li>

Cooper explained<a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=15668"> why American exceptionalism is a myth;</a>

Cooper has attributed most of the deaths from the pandemic to racism and conservatives, stating that, “I feel like most Black people are clear that this utterly absurd push to re-open the country is all about a gross necropolitical calculation that it is Black people who are dying disproportionately from COVID,” and <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/rutgers-university-prof-reopening-the-country-is-about-killing-black-people/">blaming Trump supporters for the hundreds of thousands of deaths</a> due to the coronavirus.

Cooper has previously stated that a conservative’s beliefs are “rooted in racism.” In an appearance on MSNBC, <a href="https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/duncan-schroeder/2020/08/30/deranged-msnbc-pundit-goes-hateful-rant-against-trump-voters">Cooper stated that conservatives have a desire for power</a> at the expense of black and brown Americans.

Cooper has denigrated conservatives throughout her career along racial lines. <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?444245-2/eloquent-rage&amp;playEvent">During a speech in Baltimore</a>, she stated that as white men lose their power, they will continue to “terrorize” black men and women. In a previous thread, she stated that the black community is being eaten alive by “capitalism, patriarchy, and racism,” and white people won’t feel any negative consequences of these systems so long as they can continue to displace white people through systems like gentrification.

Ms. <a href="https://crimjust.rutgers.edu/people/faculty-directory/details/30-faculty/faculty/620-erakat-noura">Noura Erakat</a> is an Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at Rutgers University. According to her university profile, Professor Erakat specializes in fields that include international law, humanitarian law, human rights law, national security law, refugee law, and critical race theory. A harsh critic of the state of Israel, the professor has repeatedly demonized and called for the destruction of the only Jewish state in the world.

Professor Erakat’s work frequently characterizes Israel as a racist state that is equivalent to the apartheid-era South African government. In a November 2019 interview with DemocracyNow, she stated, ”<a href="https://www.democracynow.org/2019/11/19/noura_erakat_israeli_settlements_trump_announcement">we are witnessing the entrenchment of an apartheid regime</a>, and the U.S. [is] at the helm of that process.”

Professor Erakat repeats this false claim to justify her support of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. In a November 2020 video panel discussion with the Middle East Institute, Professor Erakat calls on the world <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S7ZkKMFUuU&amp;t=3956s">to resist and alienate Israel via adherence to a BDS platform</a>.

BDS—short for Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions—supporters embrace the following three tenets as a feature of the campaign:

- Boycotting all goods that originate from the state of Israel;

- Divesting all funds (private or public) that are allocated to Israel; and

- Placing sanctions exclusively on Israel.

Mr. Omar Barghouti, a co-founder of the BDS movement, admits that the ultimate outcome of these steps is the <a href="https://twitter.com/StandWithUs/status/1267561561565958144">dismantlement of the state of Israel</a>.

Professor Erakat likewise calls for Israel to be destroyed and replaced by an Arab-majority Palestinian state. As reported by The Spectator in July 2019, Ms. Erakat spoke at an event in Washington, DC, where she <a href="https://spectator.org/noura-erakat-recounts-her-anxiety-over-israels-existence/">advocated for Arabs to “help indigenize” Jews in Israel </a>in order to achieve a sole Palestinian state or a “one-state solution.”

Professor Erakat is far more brazen in calling for the outright destruction of Israel when speaking at anti-Israel protests around the country. During one march in May 2021—captured by News2Share—she called for the <a href="https://twitter.com/FordFischer/status/1393739882825195521/">liberation of Palestine, “from the river to the sea.</a>”

According to the Israeli newspaper Arutz Sheva, the chant, “from the river to the sea,” was <a href="https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/291203">popularized by terrorist groups such as the Palestinian Liberation Organization</a> (PLO). The phrase alludes to the destruction of Israel—and thus the genocide of the nation’s Jews—between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/1948/08/02/archives/aim-to-oust-jews-pledged-by-sheikh-head-of-moslem-brotherhood-says.html">The chant is thought to originate from the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan el-Banna</a>, who was qouted by The New York Times stating, "If the Jewish state becomes a fact, and this is realized by the Arab peoples, they will drive the Jews who live in their midst into the sea."

Even though Professor Erakat can be heard calling for the “denuclearization of Israel” in the same speech, she had in 2013 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I20HOx5zfv0&amp;ab_channel=JFhsfohhMN">condemned efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program as “racist</a>.”

She further <a href="https://www.instagram.com/tv/CMzhsZtBfgg/?igshid=5p918cganhq1">defended this position</a> in a video uploaded to her Instagram in March of 2021, arguing there is no contradiction in opposing sanctions for Iran while supporting sanctions on Israel.

During a separate march in May of 2021,  Ms. Erakat can be heard chanting “By spirit and by blood, we redeem you, Palestine!” in front of the Israeli Embassy.

In April of 2020, Noura Erakat’s cousin, Mr. Ahmed Erakat, was killed after <a href="https://www.algemeiner.com/2020/06/29/palestinian-rams-a-checkpoint-death-lies-and-videotape/">ramming his car into an Israeli checkpoint during a failed terrorist attack</a>. Despite the publication of footage verifying the incident and a pipe bomb later being found in the van by investigators, Ms. Erakat continues to claim that he was murdered by Israeli forces.

Dr. James Livingston is <a href="https://history.rutgers.edu/faculty-directory/172-livingston-james" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a tenured Professor of History</a> at Rutgers University. His specialty is listed as Modern US: Intellectual and Economic History. He considers himself an “economic historian” and professionally writes many publications about politics, economics, and working in the United States.

In his personal time, Dr. Livingston often takes to Facebook to discuss similar topics, but in a less professional manner. <a href="https://pen.org/press-clip/white-professor-accused-of-antiwhite-racism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In a Facebook post from May 31, 2018</a>, Dr. Livingston denounces the white race and belligerently asserts he “hates white people.” Later in the post, he calls white Americans “little caucasian assholes who know their parents will approve of anything they do” and “little shitheads.”

When Facebook flagged the post and took it down, rather than apologize for his racist rant, he posted the following:

Shortly after his anti-white tirade, Rutgers launched an investigation into his posts. The university stated that they received several anonymous complaints about the posts, calling them to take action against the Professor. Dr. Livingston claimed he was making a statement about gentrification and told university officials that white supremacists were sending him threatening messages.

The investigation was headed by Carolyn Dellatore, the associate director of the Office of Employment Equity. <a href="https://www.thefire.org/rutgers-investigation-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Her investigation found that</a> “given Professor Livingston’s insistence on making disparaging racial comments, a reasonable student may have concerns that he or she would be stigmatized in his classes because of his or her race. As such, Professor Livingston’s comments have violated university policy.” He argued, however, that his posts were not racist because white people cannot be discriminated against. He also argued that the first amendment gave him the right to freedom of speech.

The university initially decided to sanction Dr. Livingston, but they <a href="https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/2018/11/15/no-punishment-rutgers-university-professor-over-white-people-comments-facebook/2016377002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ultimately reversed their decision</a> in November 2018, clearing him of all charges. Dr. Livingston is still teaching at Rutgers University today.

<a href="https://comminfo.rutgers.edu/kumanyika-chenjerai">Dr. Chenjerai Kumanyika</a> is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. Dr. Kumanyika traveled to Ferguson, MO multiple times to protest the non-indictment of the white police officer who shot Michael Brown. He was also a signatory on a letter supporting the demands from the Coalition of Concerned Students who believe in prosecuting what they call “predatory behaviors and defamatory speech,” even from social media sources. The letter also calls for building a new multi-cultural center, more support for “underrepresented groups,” increasing the number of minority faculty members, and for Clemson employees to go through diversity training. Chenjerai also orchestrated a campaign against a student senate candidate and accused a candidate of racism for posing with a gun and American flag for his campaign poster.

<a href="https://sph.rutgers.edu/concentrations/urban-global-public-health/faculty-member.php?id=92133" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Perry Halkitis</a> is the Dean and Hunterdon Professor of Public Health and Health Equity in the School of Public Health at Rutgers University. He is designated as a Distinguished Professor with research interests in infectious diseases such as HIV, HPV, and COVID-19.

Halkitis is the founder and director of the Center for Health, Identity, Behavior and Prevention Studies (CHIBPS). CHIBPS is not a medical clinic but is “an interdisciplinary research center within the Rutgers School of Public Health. <a href="https://sph.rutgers.edu/centers/chibps/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The center’s website</a> says the organization is “nationally recognized for the study of LGBTQ health with a focus on the disparities of infectious diseases including HIV, substance use, and mental health burden.”  

In March 2022, CHIBPS offered a survey and raffle for anyone willing to participate in their research into LGBTQ communities’ vaccination experiences.

Halkitis put #EthicalDisruptor in his Twitter profile and uses his page to bring awareness to LGBTQ community issues. In a video pinned by Halkitis, a host of New Jersey Power and Politics interviewed him regarding the Colorado Springs <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/grotesque-politicization-colorado-springs-gay-bar-shooting-opinion-1761129" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gay night club shooting</a>.  

Halkitis was asked how he thought rhetoric from political figures enabled people like the shooter to commit hate crimes. Halkitis, who believes microaggressions are a public health issue, stated:

“We’ve been seeing over the course of the last four to five years a steady increase in hate crimes…[We need to] think about how our work in public health has to be responsible enough to call out that rhetoric — whether it be macro aggressions…or the microaggressions that marginalize people on a daily basis.”

Halkitis also said the fact that the club shooter identifies as “nonbinary” is not a factor because “LGBTQ people are raised in a society that also embeds us with trans-homophobia…and many of us internalize it.”

Her faculty profile says she has “wide-ranging interests in racial equity and African American health.” Her research interests include “ways in which urban built environments reflect racial inequities…and how racism, directly and indirectly, affects African American health.”

The University of Pennsylvania invited Kwate to give a talk on February 15, 2023. The <a href="https://www.nursing.upenn.edu/calendar/view/event/event_id/4222/view/event" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> says Kwate “examines the ways in which fast food…has shifted from its position of jealously guarded whiteness and wholesome leisure to gauche, homogenized, anachronistic—and black.”

The abstract further states, “Fast food has undergone a complete inversion from its historical origins of serving urban white workers and middle-class white suburban families to become synonymous with urban black space.”

In her book, “<a href="https://manifold.umn.edu/projects/burgers-in-blackface" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Burgers in Blackface</a>,” Kwate discussed restaurant culture from the perspective of slavery and the ridicule of black people. She introduced the book by stating, “This book examines the ways in which American restaurants have traded on denigrating images of black people in names, branding, and architecture. The United States has a long history of black stereotypes being used to sell products, particularly packaged food…”

She concludes the book, “Because racism is the way American society does business, the establishments reviewed here may at first blush suggest simply another–if unique–example of how business is done…It is also possible that racist restaurants mobilize the culture, geography, and institutions of the South.”

Kwate announced on Twitter that her new book “White Burgers, Black Cash: Fast Food from Black Exclusion to Exploitation” will drop in May 2023.”

According to his <a href="https://www.marshall.usc.edu/personnel/shaun-harper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a>, Shaun Harper is “University Professor of Business and Education, Provost Professor of Management and Organization, Clifford and Betty Allen Chair in Urban Leadership, [and] USC Race and Equity Center Executive Director” at the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business. Harper’s profile states that he “teaches MBA students and advises companies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).”
In 2018, Harper authored a USC <a href="https://race.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Pub-2-Harper-Sports-Report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> titled, “BLACK MALE STUDENT-ATHLETES AND RACIAL INEQUITIES IN NCAA DIVISION I COLLEGE SPORTS”. 
For the study, Harper states that “Statistics are also furnished for each individual university in the Power Five conferences,” and mentions that “the report concludes with implications for college and university presidents, athletics directors, conference commissioners, the NCAA, journalists, and Black male student-athletes and their families.”
According to TheGrio, Harper wrote an <a href="https://thegrio.com/2021/01/18/martin-luther-king-inconvenient-truths-white-people/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> titled “7 inconvenient truths white people must understand about Martin Luther King Jr.” Harper analyzes quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. which he believes are overlooked by white people in favor of the more popular quotes from the civil-rights figure. Moreover, he believes these quotes provide a call to action applicable to the current times. 
“King frequently called on white people to accept responsibility for the racial inequities they created, and to assume leadership for corrective action. Contemporary problems plaguing Black Americans are incontestable byproducts of slavery, Jim Crow, voter suppression, police brutality, and other acts of racial violence and exclusion. White people manufactured those. As King maintained, it continues to be their responsibility to right past and present wrongs.”
Harper claims “that the ways in which Donald Trump manipulated poor white people during his two campaigns and presidency undoubtedly would’ve frustrated King.” According to Harper, King “wanted whites and people of color to recognize how economic systems of oppression disadvantaged them both, and to understand that working together would significantly improve their chances of overthrowing engines of wealth inequity.”
Harper also claims that King “would want white Americans to know that the attack on the U.S. Capitol earlier this month [January 6, 2021] was an insurrection.”
Furthermore, regarding the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in 2021, Harper says:
“It was a planned, organized, and violent rebellion. Disillusioned Trump supporters, most of them white, flew on airplanes and drove across states to attend. It isn’t the same as the mostly peaceful protests we saw in numerous cities last summer. The Capitol insurrection also isn’t the same as when frustrated Black people spontaneously (and at times unpeacefully) take to the streets following the miscarriage of justice.”
According to his <a href="https://www.shaunharper.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>, “Foundations have invested more than $21 million into Professor Harper’s research and DEI initiatives. In addition, the center he founded and leads at USC has generated more than $13 million through its workplace climate assessments, pay equity analyses, and other expertly-developed DEI resources.”

As <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8518">reported</a> by Campus Reform, Chavez <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8518">taught </a>a course called, “America, the Frontier, and the New West.”  The course description <a href="https://classes.usc.edu/term-20163/classes/amst/">states</a> that the class is an “Introduction to an interdisciplinary study of American political, cultural and social life with a particular emphasis on the Western United States as a region.” According to USC’s course <a href="https://classes.usc.edu/term-20163/classes/amst/">description</a>, the course also qualifies the satisfaction of the core curriculum requirement for undergraduate students.

According to Campus Reform, Chavez sent an email to her class, via her teaching assistant Julia Chea, <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8518">ordering</a> students to refrain from using the term “illegal immigrant” on the course's final exam. The email reads as follows,

According to the Washington Examiner, Chea then <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/red-alert-politics/professor-bans-phrase-illegal-immigrant-threatens-students-exposed">discovered</a> that students who received her email were sharing it on their respective social media accounts. She then sent out an additional email to the students in her class that read as follows,

“Dear students, NONE of you have my permission to screenshot emails sent to the class so that you may post them on Facebook. Not only is it in bad taste, but you would do well to avoid violating classroom and university policies regarding confidentiality. Your friend has ratted you out.”

In a <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8518">statement </a>given to Campus Reform, an unnamed student who shared the initial email called the decree “just one of the many instances of anticonservative bias” at USC and represents an “attack on intellectual freedom and free speech.”

The Professor Watchlist Team reached out to Chavez for comment but has not received a response by the time of publication.

<a href="https://dornsife.usc.edu/cf/faculty-and-staff/faculty.cfm?pid=1008403">Darry Sragow</a>, a professor at the University of Southern California, attacked Republicans during a political science class. He angrily called them old, white, racist, “losers” and encouraged illegally suppressing Republican votes.

Charles H.F. Davis is an Assistant Professor at the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan. He previously taught at the University of Southern California. According to his university biography, Davis’s research and teaching focuses on, “race and racism, systems of oppression, and structures of domination in U.S. higher education and its social contexts.”

Davis previously rose to notoriety in 2017 for a series of <a href="https://twitter.com/hfdavis?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">racially inflammatory tweets</a>. As reported by <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/usc-professor-defends-tweet-promoting-violence-whiteness/">The College Fix</a>, he tweeted that “whiteness” must be destroyed and alluded to the necessity of violence in confronting it.

The background photo of his Twitter account at the time featured a black woman pointing a gun at a pig that clearly represents a caricature of a police officer. 

When contacted <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/usc-professor-defends-tweet-promoting-violence-whiteness/">The College Fix</a> over his remarks, Davis responded, “To be clear, I am decidedly against whiteness as a social and political ideology, which systematically marginalize and disenfranchise people of color from opportunities for societal advancement. In addition, I am against the institution of policing, which has historically and continuously enacted racial terror, sexual violence, and economic exploitation against racial minorities, women and LGBTQ communities, and economically disadvantaged working-class people.”

When asked if any of these tweets might make students uncomfortable, Davis <a href="http://hfdavis.com/blog/an-interview-with-a-conservative">responded</a> that any discomfort experienced by his white students is a result of their “white fragility.” 

Davis had previously advocated for the right of students to disrupt conservative speakers on campus. In the wake of <a href="https://badgerherald.com/news/2016/11/17/conservative-pundit-ben-shapiro-lectures-to-turbulent-crowd-on-safe-spaces-freedom-of-speech/">protesters heckling</a> Ben Shapiro’s lecture at the University of Wisconsin Madison, school regents approved a <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-university-of-wisconsin-protest-punishment-20171006-story.html">policy</a> to suspend or expel students that purposefully disrupt events. Davis’s subsequent <a href="https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-university-of-wisconsin-protest-punishment-20171006-story.html">op-ed</a> at Inside Higher Ed argued that this only reinforced white supremacy: “To be clear, it is a decision that reinforces institutionalized white supremacy -- and other oppressive forms of systemic power.” Davis argues that conservative speakers like Shapiro have hijacked the First Amendment to push “white supremacist agendas.”  

Davis’s website, which is listed by the University of Michigan on his biography, <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51ab9fa0e4b06a38e604420a/t/5edaf71d1ab0434751b2e960/1591408468354/HF+Davis+%E2%80%93%C2%A0EPK.pdf">advertises </a>that he has taught the issues of “ race, racism, and systemic oppression in education and society” to over “7,000 students, educators and institutional leaders.” The <a href="http://hfdavis.com/">home page</a> of the site also features links to organizations that advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, abolishing the police, and boycotting the nation of Israel.

<a href="https://weblaw.usc.edu/faculty/?id=129" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Jody David Armour</a> is a Roy P. Crocker Professor of Law at the <a href="https://www.usc.edu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Southern California</a>. According to his university biography, Dr. Armour studies the intersection of racial justice, criminal justice, and the rule of law.

As a critical race scholar, Dr. Armour’s work focuses on police brutality, mass incarceration, and systemic and cultural racism. He freely admits that critical race theory is included in his curriculum.

Dr. Armour is notable for his advocacy on behalf of District Attorneys (DAs) supported by George Soros while he served as a fellow of George Soros' Open Society Foundation.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/9-things-you-need-know-about-george-soros-aaron-bandler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Hungarian-born billionaire</a>, George Soros and The Open Society Foundation donate billions of dollars to progressive causes across the country, totaling <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/who-we-are/financials" target="_blank" rel="noopener">over $18 billion dollars over the past 35 years</a>. The Foundation’s operating budget for 2020 alone was 1.4 billion dollars.

The <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/12/16/how-george-soros-funded-progressive-das-behind-us-crime-surge/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beneficiaries of Soros’s philanthropy are progressive District Attorneys who run on issues such as ending cash bail and “mass incarceration</a>.” Author, Matt Palumbo, has <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2021/11/08/matt_palumbo_how_george_soros_overhauled_the_us_justice_system.html#!" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documented tens of millions of dollars flowing from Soros and the Open Society Foundation</a> to campaigns of far-left DAs across the country.

Once elected, they immediately begin to decriminalize or refuse to prosecute certain “non-violent” crimes such as robbery, drug possession, and vandalism. This sometimes includes more serious offenses. The Soros-backed DA for Chicago, <a href="https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2021/10/decriminalizing_gang_bangers_soros_prosecutor_kim_foxx_declines_to_charge_five_arrested_in_fatal_gang_shootout_citing_mutual_combatants.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kim Foxx, cited “mutual combat” in her decision to decline prosecution of a fatal gang shooting</a>.

<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/02/the-deadly-consequences-of-defund-the-police/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Coupled with the nationwide defunding of police departments</a>, cities with Soros-funded DAs are witnessing record levels of crime. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/twelve-major-cities-with-new-homicide-records-in-2021-all-led-by-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twelve major US cities broke homicide records in 2021.</a>

Officially titled the Soros Justice Senior Fellow of The Open Society Institute’s Center on Crime, Communities and Culture, Dr. Armour works not only to promote radical, criminal justice reform but uses his position within USC’s Law School to recruit Soros-backed, far-left DAs across the country.

Dr. Armour frequently hosts these DAs as part of his lecture series at the USC College of Law. One is Los Angeles County DA, George Gascon, who is known for his <a href="https://www.heritage.org/crime-and-justice/report/george-gascon-rogue-prosecutor-whose-extreme-policies-undermine-the-rule" target="_blank" rel="noopener">radical stances and failure to prosecute </a>serious offenses.

Gascon’s office has been criticized for <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/crime/2021/12/07/convict-arrested-for-murder-of-jacqueline-avant-as-l-a-faces-violent-crime-surge-in-wake-of-reforms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">releasing criminals who would later go on to commit violent crimes</a>. In 2021, a <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/01/17/la-da-ripped-after-child-molester-faces-little-or-no-time/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender woman who raped a 10 year-old girl in a bathroom</a> received a substantially reduced sentence based on recommendations from Gascon’s office.

During one point, Gascon compared the arrests of homeless people to confinement in a concentration camp, even stating that if a person is assaulted by a vagrant in front of their “million-dollar condo,” the solution is not to arrest or institutionalize them.

A notable portion of Dr. Armour’s conversation with Gascon is when both described their efforts to elect progressive DAs in cities across the country. Gascon even bragged about how $50 million raised by George Soros and the ACLU was used to recruit and fund the campaigns of like-minded DAs across the country.

One DA singled out for praise in their conversation is the District attorney of Philadelphia, Larry Krasner, whom Dr. Armour hosted at USC’s Law School on two separate occasions. Dr. Armour has praised Krasner—who self-identifies as a “prison abolitionist”— <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfPSYQRHP9Y&amp;ab_channel=USCGouldSchoolofLaw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as the most “transformational” politician in the last 50 years.</a>

Elected in 2017—<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyh5Il__MH0&amp;t=4s&amp;ab_channel=USCGouldSchoolofLaw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">while running on ending cash bail and mass incarceration in the city</a>—Krasner has since overseen a record-breaking crime wave in Philadelphia, with the<a href="https://www.city-journal.org/philadelphia-breaks-homicide-record" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> city recording over 500 murders in 2021 alone</a>.

During a separate, Krasner bragged about his refusal to prosecute certain crimes in his jurisdiction—namely drug offenses—while in office. This decision has drawn criticism from prosecutors who accuse Krasner of failing to keep violent criminals off the street.

<a href="https://www.inquirer.com/news/us-attorney-william-mcswain-district-attorney-larry-krasner-police-shooting-cpl-james-oconnor-20200316.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">US Attorney, William McSwain, attributed this policy to the death of James O’Connor, a Philadelphia police officer</a>. O’Conner was murdered by a career criminal, Hassan Elliot while serving an arrest warrant. Krasner’s office had previously released Elliot for drug possession, which was a violation of his parole, with no bail.

Dr. Armour further used the event to recruit for Krasner’s office. As part of his nationwide tour, Kranser used his platform to recruit Dr. Armour’s students to intern and eventually work in his office, which Dr. Armour enthusiastically supported.

According to his <a href="https://www.marshall.usc.edu/personnel/shaun-harper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">university profile</a>, Shaun Harper is “University Professor of Business and Education, Provost Professor of Management and Organization, Clifford and Betty Allen Chair in Urban Leadership, [and] USC Race and Equity Center Executive Director” at the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business. Harper’s profile states that he “teaches MBA students and advises companies on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).”

In 2018, Harper authored a USC <a href="https://race.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Pub-2-Harper-Sports-Report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study</a> titled, “BLACK MALE STUDENT-ATHLETES AND RACIAL INEQUITIES IN NCAA DIVISION I COLLEGE SPORTS”. 

For the study, Harper states that “Statistics are also furnished for each individual university in the Power Five conferences,” and mentions that “the report concludes with implications for college and university presidents, athletics directors, conference commissioners, the NCAA, journalists, and Black male student-athletes and their families.”

According to TheGrio, Harper wrote an <a href="https://thegrio.com/2021/01/18/martin-luther-king-inconvenient-truths-white-people/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> titled “7 inconvenient truths white people must understand about Martin Luther King Jr.” Harper analyzes quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. which he believes are overlooked by white people in favor of the more popular quotes from the civil-rights figure. Moreover, he believes these quotes provide a call to action applicable to the current times. 
“King frequently called on white people to accept responsibility for the racial inequities they created, and to assume leadership for corrective action. Contemporary problems plaguing Black Americans are incontestable byproducts of slavery, Jim Crow, voter suppression, police brutality, and other acts of racial violence and exclusion. White people manufactured those. As King maintained, it continues to be their responsibility to right past and present wrongs.”
Harper claims “that the ways in which Donald Trump manipulated poor white people during his two campaigns and presidency undoubtedly would’ve frustrated King.” According to Harper, King “wanted whites and people of color to recognize how economic systems of oppression disadvantaged them both, and to understand that working together would significantly improve their chances of overthrowing engines of wealth inequity.”

Harper also claims that King “would want white Americans to know that the attack on the U.S. Capitol earlier this month [January 6, 2021] was an insurrection.”

Furthermore, regarding the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in 2021, Harper says:
“It was a planned, organized, and violent rebellion. Disillusioned Trump supporters, most of them white, flew on airplanes and drove across states to attend. It isn’t the same as the mostly peaceful protests we saw in numerous cities last summer. The Capitol insurrection also isn’t the same as when frustrated Black people spontaneously (and at times unpeacefully) take to the streets following the miscarriage of justice.”
According to his <a href="https://www.shaunharper.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>, “Foundations have invested more than $21 million into Professor Harper’s research and DEI initiatives. In addition, the center he founded and leads at USC has generated more than $13 million through its workplace climate assessments, pay equity analyses, and other expertly-developed DEI resources.”

<a href="https://www.ucdavis.edu/academics/teaching-and-learning/new-faculty/sara-giordano/">Professor Sara Giordano</a>, University of California Davis, has vowed to “challenge the authority of Science” by “rewriting knowledge” through a feminist lens. Not only is science rooted in racism, she alleges; it has been used to perpetuate racism and colonial practices.

<a href="https://english.ucdavis.edu/people/jclover">Joshua Clover</a> is a professor of English at the University of California, Davis, and specializes in “<a href="https://english.ucdavis.edu/people/jclover">critical theory, Marxism, political theory, political economy, poetry, and poetics</a>.”

A signatory to the <a href="https://usacbi.org/endorsers/">US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel</a>, Clover has compared Israel to Nazi Germany and <a href="https://popula.com/2018/12/05/from-the-river-to-the-sea/">described it as an “eliminationist ethnostate</a>.” A self-described communist, Clover has cited his world view as justification for the destruction of Israel as a state.

On a number of accusations, Clover has openly called for violence against police officers. In 2020, he <a href="https://www.motherjones.com/crime-justice/2020/06/riots-arent-irrational/">praised rioters</a> for burning police stations, stating that law enforcement’s role is to protect private property and is, therefore “fundamentally anti-black.”
“...the police role in making sure property stays property is fundamentally anti-black, fundamentally white supremacist, and the same time that it’s fundamentally in defense of capital.” 
“Ten days ago, there were 330 million Americans who did not know a single thing; they didn’t know that you could sack a police station...People recognize the police are the source of  their unfreedom, and they fight back against them.”  
Clover was <a href="https://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2019/02/26/uc-davis-professor-joshua-clover-cops-killed/">condemned</a> after past tweets and statements in a 2015 <a href="https://archives.sfweekly.com/exhibitionist/2015/09/17/the-write-stuff-joshua-clover-on-wearing-intense-knowledge-lightly-and-changing-quickly">San Francisco Weekly</a> interview advocating for the murder of police officers.

Prior to a visit by Charlie Kirk for a lecture, Clover <a href="https://theaggie.org/2023/03/08/the-education-of-tpusa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">condemns the “white nationalist” Kirk</a> and TPUSA—who he accuses of being an “organization of Hitler enjoyers”—in an article for The California Aggie. Describing the First Amendment as an “ethnically repugnant law,” Clover calls for students to “teach Charlie Kirk a lesson” as they have for other speakers who were driven off campus by violent protests.

<a href="https://ealc.ucdavis.edu/people/michelle-yeh">Michelle Yeh</a> is the former Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of California - Davis. The Confucius Institute is funded by the Chinese Communist Party and serves as a focal point for the dissemination of propaganda and foreign espionage on American campuses.

<a href="https://law.ucdavis.edu/people/mary-ziegler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mary Ziegler</a> is a Martin Luther King Law professor at the University of California, Davis. According to her university biography, “she is an expert on the law, history, and politics of reproduction, health care, and conservatism in the United States from 1945 to the present.”

At Hofstra University’s Critical Spiritualties lecture on September 28, 2022, <a href="https://www.thehofstrachronicle.com/category/news/2022/10/11/law-professor-discusses-how-the-us-lost-the-consitutional-right-to-abortion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hofstra Chronicle reports</a> that Ziegler spoke about the history of the anti-abortion movement and its success in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The title of her lecture was “Canary in the Coalmine: What it Means to Lose a Constitutional Right.” The constitutional right that Ziegler claims Americans have lost is the right to an abortion. 

In the preface of her book <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dollars-Life-Anti-Abortion-Republican-Establishment/dp/0300260148" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dollars for Life: The Anti-Abortion Movement and the Fall of the Republican Establishment</a> (2022), Ziegler claims that:
"[T]he American anti-abortion movement contributed far more to the rise of Donald Trump and the transformation of the GOP than we often think. Scholars have traced how an ascendant form of Christian nationalism–the belief that the United States was and always should be a Christian nation–was needed for Trump to edge out Hillary Clinton in 2016. But the influence of the anti-abortion movement went much futher, and it had everything to do with money in U.S. politics."
In her Hofstra lecture, Ziegler addressed the same topics as those in Dollars for Life.

She claims that the anti-abortion movement began in the Catholic Church, and became an important part of the Republican Party’s agenda in the 1980s. Ziegler argues that the religious-right could not do much constitutionally to challenge the LGBTQ+ movement and no-fault divorce, so they focused mainly on abortion and securing fetal constitutional rights. To achieve this end, “The answer they came up with was… controlling the Supreme Court.”

According to The Hofstra Chronicle, Ziegler also claims that the combination of super PACS, and the “packing of the court with justices that would be willing to overturn Roe v. Wade” led to the overturning of the 1973 ruling. She suggests that the presumed 14th Amendment right for same-sex couples to marry could be targeted next. Yet, The Hofstra Chronicle reports that Ziegler expressed “optimism for the future [by mentioning] Kansas’s rejection of an anti-abortion amendment.” At the close of her lecture, she predicted that “what comes next, in a way, is going to be a stress test for democracy.”

<a href="https://education.ucdavis.edu/faculty-profile/faheemah-n-mustafaa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Faheemah Mustafaa</a> is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at the University of California, Davis.

Mustafaa’s university profile states that her “interdisciplinary research primarily focuses on: (1) understanding and supporting the academic performance and holistic well-being of Black/African American and other youth with historically marginalized identities; and (2) studying the identity-related beliefs and pedagogies of K-12 and postsecondary educators.”

According to a tip sent to <a href="https://www.yaf.org/news/uc-davis-professor-assigns-white-privilege-checklist-warns-it-may-be-triggering/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Young America’s Foundation (YAF</a>), Muastafaa assigned a “white privilege” checklist in a class about “White Racial Identity Development and Purpose.”

According to YAF, “Mustafaa presented slides that defined racism. The slides focused mostly on subjects like ‘White Racial Identity/Identity Development.’ These slides told students how they could identify their whiteness and how to make sure they are “‘less white.’”

After the lecture, Mustafaa sent the class an email accompanied by a link to a white privilege checklist (which is no longer available.)

-“I am not made acutely aware that my shape, bearing or body odor will be taken as a reflection on my race.”

-“I can choose blemish cover or bandages in “flesh” color and have them more or less match my skin.”

-“My children are given texts and classes which implicitly support our kind of family unit and do not turn them against my choice of domestic partnership.”

YAF also reports that Mustafaa had not viewed every item on the list of privileges.  The professor said, 
 “Also, I have not thoroughly read through them [i.e. the privileges] all and can not vouch for the accuracy one way or another…However, the few that I have read seem relevant based on my current knowledge of social systems in the U.S…”

According to his university <a href="https://www.fresnostate.edu/socialsciences/historydept/faculty/faculty-lmaischak.html">biography</a>, Maischak teaches the courses, Colonial Americas, American History to 1877, England and Empire, United States 1789-1865, and Topics in History - Marx and Hegel for Historians. Maischak uses his personal Twitter account to call for the execution of the 45th President, Donald Trump, and refers to conservatives as fascists.

Maischak claims that fascism is the eventual result of capitalism in a paper titled, <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h6fiDilfQWGpUrKEh2zzCrBo_iOUHA8C/view">There can be no Democracy without Socialism</a>, shared on Google Drive. Describing fascism as the “creature of capitalism,” Maischak claims that capitalism facilitates the exploitation of workers, or what he describes as the establishment of a “dictatorship of capital over labor."

Maischak further <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h6fiDilfQWGpUrKEh2zzCrBo_iOUHA8C/view">cites</a> the territorial expansion, slave labor, and the outlawing of unions in Nazi Germany as examples of capitalism’s logical end. He later describes the liberties inherent in capitalism as the freedom to commit mass murder and barbarism.

Once Maischak’s tweets were published by outlets like the <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2017/04/07/professor-trump-must-hang-republicans-should-be-executed-for-each-immigrant-deported/">Daily Caller</a> and <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/local/2017/04/13/fresno-state-fbi-secret-service-probing-history-instructor-over-trump-must-hang-tweet/">Breitbart</a>, Maischak offered an initial apology for his remarks. In a written statement to the <a href="https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article144293174.html">Fresno Bee</a>, Maischak asks for forgiveness and states, “It was never my intent to harm anyone, nor to encourage others to harm anyone.”

According to <a href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/08/07/after-anti-trump-tweets-fresno-state-removes-adjunct-professor-teaching-position">Inside Higher Ed</a>, Maischak’s classes were canceled by the university before he was later removed from his position following his remarks about President Trump. However, as of March 2021, Fresno State University still <a href="https://www.fresnostate.edu/socialsciences/historydept/faculty/faculty-lmaischak.html">lists</a> Maischak as a Lecturer in the History department. In addition, his personal Twitter account still <a href="https://twitter.com/LMaischak">contains</a> tweets calling for former president Donald Trump to be hanged, and tweets referring to conservatives as “fascists” that must face “repression” that have not been removed or recanted.

Following this statement, Fresno Bee also <a href="https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/article144293174.html">reported</a> that Maischak then accused President Castro of allowing himself to be used by a “right-wing smear machine” for cooperating with the investigation.

<a href="https://titleix.unca.edu/">Jill Moffitt</a>, an Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Title IX Administrator at the University of North Carolina - Asheville, stopped a sexual predator from explicitly admitting that he enjoys going into the women’s restroom and taking photos so she wouldn’t have to report it or take responsibility. She told him to treat it as simply a fetish.

<a href="https://www.unca.edu/person/blu-buchanan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Blu Buchanan</a> is a University Fellow at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. He further serves as a fellow for the <a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/about/fellows/buchanan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Center for Applied Transgender Studies (CATS)</a>. According to his biography, Buchanan studies whiteness, masculinity, feminist theory, and how “Black, trans folks develop to resist and decenter violence.” 

A progressive activist, Buchanan advocates for curtailing free speech rights and states that white people pose a direct, physical threat to him. He describes the First Amendment as a concept constructed and enforced for the sole benefit of white people in an article titled “<a href="https://medium.com/@BlaQSociologist/free-but-not-to-kill-me-33b6c64a050b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Free, But Not To Kill Me</a>.” He writes the subjugation of “black bodies” was needed to bolster the free speech of white men:

“Black bodies and communities were enslaved to support the speech and interests of white capitalists.”

Buchanan declares free speech is not a “universal, constant idea,” and he cannot support a person’s free speech to “silence the oppressed.” In a nation composed of cis-white men, he continues, this will inevitably mean that freedom of expression will always benefit society’s most powerful groups and interests.

Buchanan further states “white supremacy, anti-blackness, and transphobia” are normalized in a culture that embraces freedom of expression. He claims this puts “trans folks” like himself at risk for physical assault and even death, and justifies denying “white supremacists and fascists” access to public platforms.  

In a <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NxPKUy9cXggZOX8yR72DecS2aV1bIB_TxJPeQR4q1n8/edit#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender “toolkit”</a> that Buchanan co-authored, he again claims that speech from white men threatens trans people. The forward for the document condemns academics who cite the First Amendment in refusing to use a transgender person’s preferred pronouns, writing that it falls beyond the scope of “reasoned debate.”

In his essay titled, “A Burning White Ga(y)ze on “Free Speech” and White Gay Men, Buchanan again characterizes free speech as a manifestation of white supremacy and masculinity. He alleges white men cite the First Amendment as a “dog whistle,” and it comes at expense of the health and safety of marginalized communities. 

In a separate article for <a href="https://medium.com/@BlaQSociologist/black-and-bitter-in-the-time-of-trump-b8867bcb5191" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Medium.com</a>, Buchanan vows to hold white people accountable for their actions. He promised not to “hold back on y’all white folks” and warns that white people will “catch these proverbial hands.”

<a href="https://www.umb.edu/anatoli_kaploun">Dr. Anatoli Kaploun</a>, University of Massachusetts Boston, is a professor of Mathematics and also teaches at Bunker Hill Community College. Dr. Kaploun is on the list for abusing his academic freedom by making final exams worth 50% of the grade and mistreating his students. One student said he is "extremely rude and calls the entire class stupid. If you ask a question he will scream at you and humiliate you. [He] makes people stand at the front of the class if they don't get something and embarrasses them." Another student said that not only did he fail almost 70% of the class but he also "forced you to ask a question, but then bit your head off if you did ask him a question. There were forty people in my class at the beginning, but now only five people come to class."

<a href="https://www.umb.edu/academics/cla/faculty/ester_shapiro">Ester Shapiro</a> is an associate professor of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Massachusetts - Boston. <a href="https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=15874">Shapiro launched into a tirade against conservatives</a> during a guest lecture, accusing them of being Nazis and stating that America “baked white supremacy into the Constitution.” She stated that conservatives witnessed everything from a rebirth of fascism, to armed conservatives showing up at polls to intimidate voters.

Objecting to the professor’s remarks about children being held in cages at the border, a student tried to interject that human trafficking was a major issue that no one was talking about. Shapiro immediately cut her off and accused President Donald Trump of bragging about having sex with his daughter Ivanka.

<a href="https://www.umb.edu/academics/cla/faculty/chris_barcelos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chris Barcelos</a> is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (UMass). His academic expertise includes “critical public health, sexualities studies, queer of color critique, and transgender studies.”

Barcelos identifies as a member of the trans-community and prefers the pronouns they/them/theirs. He is listed as a <a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior and Distinguished Fellow of CATS</a> (The Center for Applied Transgender Studies). The organization's About page says, “We are an independent nonprofit research organization run by transgender people for transgender people.” 

<a href="https://chrisbarcelos.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">On his personal website</a>, Barcelos defines himself as “a humanistic social scientist and feminist educator.” His profile further states,

“My work combines critical race theory and critical sexualities studies with community-based research to analyze U.S.-based public health efforts. I focus specifically on queer sexuality, transgender health, and reproductive justice.”

Barcelos’ site also includes a link to the <a href="https://transyouthjusticeproject.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trans Youth Justice Project</a> (TYJP) — a community-based education organization specializing in trans history and trans rights. Barcelos is the co-facilitator, curriculum author, and program evaluator. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bBYF27FvW2vmMGUUyZFAQdsSQTxoGPkj/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TYJP Remote Curriculum’s</a> Youth Recruitment and Incentives program offers enrollees a $20/hr stipend to complete a 6-week course centered on trans social justice, respectful pronoun usage, and sex education.

In response to the leaked draft of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Barcelos wrote <a href="https://genderpolicyreport.umn.edu/gendered-racial-projects-anti-trans-anti-crt-and-anti-abortion-legislation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an article for The Gender Policy Report</a> that says,

“For those with some degree of racial, economic, or gender privilege, the leak signaled the first time in their adult lives that they could lack the right to control their bodies. For students of color, queer and trans youth, economically marginalized students…the leak was part of the ongoing state violence that has long affected their communities.”

In his book, “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Distributing_Condoms_and_Hope/6wb9DwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=%E2%80%9CTransgender+Reproductive+Justice%E2%80%9D+In+Reproductive+Justice+Briefing+Book,+2nd+edition:+A+Primer+on+Reproductive+Justice+and+Social+Change.+Amherst,+MA:+Center+for+Civil+Liberties+and+Public+Policy.&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Distributing Condoms and Hope: The Radicalized Politics of Youth Sexual Health</a>,” Barcelos writes,

“This book makes visible the operation of power in youth sexual and reproductive health and reimagines what health promotion would look like through the lens of reproductive justice (RJ). Women of color feminist activists developed the concept of reproductive justice in the mid-1990s as a framework, vision, and social movement.”

He continued,

“[RJ] refocusses individual-level debates about reproductive ‘rights’ and ‘choice’ to emphasize a broader analysis of racial, economic, and structural constraints on power. The approach expands a singular focus on white, economically privileged women’s access to contraception and abortion to include the right to have children and to parent them with dignity and support.”

<a href="http://www.medschool.umaryland.edu/profiles/Younus-Faheem/">Dr. Faheem Younus</a> is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Maryland. Dr. Younus became infamous for his comments on social media regarding the Charleston shooting. He blamed the shooting on former sniper Chris Kyle as well as Fox News, for creating a 'culture' that encourages mass shooting.

<a href="https://merrill.umd.edu/directory/deneen-brown" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DeNeen Brown</a> is an Associate Professor of Journalism at the University of Maryland who has vowed to leave America over systemic racism and oppression.

In a Washington Post op-ed—titled, “<a href="https://archive.ph/Kxlhi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Case for Leaving America to Escape Racism</a>”—Dr. Brown reveals that she grew up in the black power movement as she “never really felt at home in America." She then recounts an alleged racial incident in elementary school in which she describes her white classmates as “oppressors” and vows never to internalize their racism.

This would later inspire her work as a journalist to document racism and Black people whom she claims still suffer under “economic, political, and cultural oppression.” This is reflected in another article in which Dr. Brown alleges that <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08/08/modern-day-mississippi-lynchings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">racially-motivated lynchings are a regular occurrence, but provides no evidence to verify her claims</a>.

Dr. Brown explains she began looking for a new place to live abroad after state legislators across the county banned teaching critical race theory in schools. Further citing her concern over the eruption of “racist terror” embodied by January 6th “insurrectionists,” Dr. Brown expresses a desire to live in a country without “entrenched racism” where she has the freedom “to move among people who look like me.”

Dr. Brown further expresses a desire to live in a place where she will not have to discuss her nation’s racism. In a previous Washington Post op-ed, she lamented how<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/06/17/black-people-are-tired-trying-explain-racism/?itid=ap_deneenl.brown" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> black people at large are “exhausted” over explaining racism to white people</a>. In separate tweets, she further explains the burden of racism must be placed at the feet of white society and urges others to study radicals like Che Guevara to learn how to do so.

The Marxist revolutionary is known for installing the <a href="https://www.humanprogress.org/the-truth-about-che-guevara-racist-homophobe-and-mass-murderer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">60-year dictatorship in Cuba</a> and for his bigoted statements, such as: “<a href="https://www.heritage.org/political-process/commentary/el-che-the-crass-marketing-sadistic-racist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The negro is indolent and lazy, and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.</a>"

Comparing her fight against racism to “punching a brick wall,” she concludes that it’s far easier to leave the country entirely, as she can no longer stand being a black person walking through “white institutions.”

<a href="https://sllc.umd.edu/directory/tatiana-chi-miranda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tatiana Chi-Miranda</a> is a Ph.D. Student and Spanish teacher at the University of Maryland, College Park. 

During an interview with <a href="https://dbknews.com/2022/11/21/umd-spanish-professors-add-anti-racism-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Diamondback</a>, Chi-Miranda explained how she incorporates anti-racism into her curriculum. Although her Spanish language classes focus on grammar and composition, she admitted the modules are used to discuss racism and phobias:  

“[This] is a great introduction for the anti-racism module because it allows one to establish a personal connection to the text, but also it allows them to get a critical approach to it. And it opens doors for them to have a critical attitude and cultural approach to it,” 

Chi-Miranda provided one module to The Diamondback in which her students pretend to dislike diversity. She said this was an example of xenophobia  and recited the following line:  

“I don’t want you to make friends with other cultures nor do I want you to enjoy the diversity of the world.” 

A sophomore who was interviewed by Diamondback  praised the initiative, stating that American schools have a “whitewashed curriculum:” 

“I think that’s really important because America has a tendency to leave out certain parts of history in their textbooks and teach a very whitewashed curriculum, so it is really important that Maryland and these professors are acknowledging that we have kind of neglected several important parts of history.”

Chi-Miranda’s comments were delivered in an article featuring six Spanish professors who also integrated anti-racist themes into their courses. One professor, Jose Magro, stated this is part of an attempt to put an end to the “colonized learning” that takes place at the university.

According to her university profile, Orr studies misinformation, and disinformation, and how each contributes to “online extremism.”

Orr attributes most domestic violence and radicalization to the political right. On her personal <a href="https://twitter.com/RVAwonk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter account</a>, she claims the memes posted by these groups to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In a substack article titled, “<a href="https://weaponizedspaces.substack.com/p/violent-extremism-in-america-is-a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Violent extremism in America is a far-right phenomenon</a>,” she writes that attacks by right-wing groups are “surging” and outpace left-wing and Islamist violence. Orr further claims that any who suggest otherwise are attempting to distract from the burgeoning connections between extremists and mainstream conservative groups:  

“Violent extremism is overwhelmingly a problem of far-right extremism, not far-left extremism, and it doesn’t help anyone to misrepresent the threat by turning it into a “both sides” issue when the sides are not even close to equal.”

Elsewhere, not only does Orr dismiss the existence of left-wing violence, she attempts to excuse it. In a separate article, titled “<a href="https://medium.com/arc-digital/in-defense-of-antifa-62c699d86dc5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In Defense of Antifa</a>,” she condemns conservatives for attempting to “vilify” the group:

“It’s easy to see why far-right extremists have worked so hard to vilify antifascists, who represent the most consistent opponents of far-right extremism and the most steadfast allies of those targeted by far-right violence.”

At first, Orr denies the existence of Antifa in her article, describing the group only as a “collection of tactics and philosophies.” She then pivots and praises Antifa for their “quieter activities” such as “research, monitoring, and surveillance of far-right extremist groups, community organizing, and advocating for historically marginalized populations.” Orr claims this is needed to stop “white supremacist” groups from organizing. 

Writing that activists must be intolerant of violent or bigoted speech, Orr claims that direct action is necessary to prevent the far-right from organizing. Comparing Antifa to Jews who resisted Nazi occupation, Orr argues that when violence from Antifa occurs, it's committed in the name of “self-defense:” 

“...consider the possibility that some violence is a regrettable but unavoidable part of preventing much greater violence by fascists.”

<a href="https://sllc.umd.edu/directory/jose-magro" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jose L. Magro</a> is a Lecturer at the School of Languages, Literatures, &amp; Cultures at the University of Maryland. His research interests are listed as applied linguistics and critical race theory.  

In an interview with, <a href="https://dbknews.com/2022/11/21/umd-spanish-professors-add-anti-racism-curriculum/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Diamondback</a>, Margo explained that he incorporates anti-racism into his curriculum. He stated this is part of an attempt to put an end to the “colonized learning” that takes place at the university. 

His comments were delivered following a presentation titled, “<a href="https://arhu.umd.edu/events/antiracist-pedagogy-spanish-language-teaching-theory-practice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Antiracist Pedagogy for Spanish Language Teaching: From Theory to Practice</a>,” which featured six Spanish and Portuguese teachers and the anti-racist materials from their classrooms. 

A fellow professor, <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/tatianachimiranda" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tatiana Chi-Miranda</a>, admitted that although her Spanish language classes focus on grammar and composition, the modules are used to discuss racism and phobias: 

“[This] is a great introduction for the anti-racism module because it allows one to establish a personal connection to the text, but also it allows them to get a critical approach to it. And it opens doors for them to have a critical attitude and cultural approach to it,” 

A sophomore interviewed by the paper praised the initiative, stating that American schools have a “whitewashed curriculum:” 

“I think that’s really important because America has a tendency to leave out certain parts of history in their textbooks and teach a very whitewashed curriculum, so it is really important that Maryland and these professors are acknowledging that we have kind of neglected several important parts of history.”

<a href="https://www.ssw.umaryland.edu/content/people/name-627864-en.html?&amp;" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Christabel Cheung </a>is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Her expertise and interests include “Psychosocial Oncology,” “Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA)” and “Health Equity.”

On March 15, 2023, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/professor-arguing-cancer-research-not-antiracist-comment-enough-christabel-cheung" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News featured</a> Cheung in an article titled “Professor argues cancer research not antiracist enough, offers antiracist approaches to patient engagement.” Fox reported, “Cheung’s presentation, ‘Antiracist Patient Engagement in Adolescent &amp; Young Adult Oncology Research and Advocacy,’ cited much of <a href="https://www.ibramxkendi.com/bio">Ibram X. Kendi</a>, the architect of antiracist ideology.”

Fox also said, “Cheung based her definition of antiracism through the lens of Kendi’s work, maintaining the notion that ‘there is no such thing as not being racist…the heartbeat of racism domestically in the United States has been a denial of racism, and the sound of that heartbeat has been the argument, ‘I’m not a racist.’”

<a href="https://youtu.be/AHknFfJHcMQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">During the presentation</a>, Cheung further stated: 

“[Kendi] wants us [and] encourages us to take on the perspective that we’re either being antiracist—where we’re promoting equality—or we’re being racist in the sense of working within systems. [You’re] either being complicit or actually supporting racist approaches.” 

In November 2022, <a href="https://ascopost.com/issues/november-10-2022/how-to-advance-antiracist-approaches-to-patient-engagement-in-aya-oncology-and-research/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The ASCO Post</a> featured Cheung in a publication where she also discussed the advancement of antiracist patient engagement with AYA. 

ASCO Post said Cheung “challenges researchers to make progress in engaging [BIPOC] AYAs in clinical studies to close the gaps in knowledge about racial and ethnic minority AYA patients and reduce disparities in their cancer outcomes.”

In response to ASCO’s question “how prevalent is racism in AYA clinical care and research [and] how is it manifested in this patient population?” Cheung said:

“The impact of systemic racism in medicine does not appear to manifest differently by age and starts from the design of the clinical trial. Implicit bias and systemic racism are woven into the fabric of the society we live in. Consequently, we all have some measure of implicit bias or unconscious prejudice that we bring to our work and must make extra efforts to address.”

She further declared,

“Antiracist policies call upon AYA oncology to depersonalize reactions to racism, acknowledge mistakes, and take corrective actions in a timely manner. We can dismantle and reorganize long-established systems in the development and testing of clinical trials, so racism does not continue to persist within these systems.”

While I do regret the harm this has caused, I think the students involved are misguided.”

According to her university profile, “[h]er research is focused on K-12 educational policy and school practice that deepen or disrupt inequities for minoritized communities of students and families.” It also “includes mixed-method studies on turnaround middle schools, small high schools in NYC, schools serving newly arrived immigrant English Learners, and a racial justice program embedded in culturally diverse elementary schools.”
In 2021, Villavicencio published <a href="https://www.dradrianav.com/am-i-my-brothers-keeper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Am I my Brother’s Keeper?”</a>, which is a book about “educational opportunities for black and brown boys.” 
According to the publisher’s description, “Am I my Brother’s Keeper?” “highlights the ways that school districts can embed educational equity into the principles and policies that guide their work with students, in contrast to implementing stand-alone initiatives that may come and go.” 
The publisher also states that “Am I my Brother’s Keeper?” includes the “voices of students, teachers, and administrators, [and] informs the implementation of other large-scale district-community partnerships designed to improve opportunities and outcomes for young people who have systematically been denied both… the book provides policy, practice, and research recommendations to inform the next generation of work with this student population.”
In October, Villavicencio, Dana Conlin, and Olga Pagan co-wrote an article titled <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/08959048221130353" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Research-Practice Partnerships in Pursuit of Racial Justice in Schools: Navigating a Hostile Sociopolitical Climate”</a>. The authors state: 
“The myth of apolitical education research becomes even clearer when conducting research on racism and the systemic oppression of marginalized communities. This is especially true in a political climate wherein the very definition of systemic racism and its impact on Black, Latinx, Asian, and Indigenous people are constantly contested.”
In an article titled, <a href="https://theconversation.com/why-schools-going-back-to-normal-wont-work-for-students-of-color-192228" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Why schools’ going back to ‘normal’ won’t work for students of color”</a>, Villvicencio wrote the following arguments:

He signed a letter claiming that the American flag is a symbol of nationalism and racism.

Richard Symanski is a Senior Lecturer at the University of California, Irvine. In one of Symanski's introductory-level Biological Science courses, Symanski was caught on film telling the class that they should all get on the bandwagon to get guns outlawed in the wake of the San Bernardino shooting.

<a href="https://www.law.uci.edu/faculty/full-time/baradaran/">Mehrsa Baradaran</a> is a professor of law at the University of California, Irvine. According to her <a href="https://www.law.uci.edu/faculty/full-time/baradaran/">university bio</a>, Baradaran previously served as Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives, focusing on diversity and inclusion efforts. Baradaran is the author of “<a href="https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674286061">How the Other Half Banks</a>,” and, “<a href="https://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog.php?isbn=9780674237476">The Color of Money</a>.”

Baradaran equates capitalism with white supremacy. In addition to advocating for defunding police departments, Baradaran believes that reparations to the black community are the only way to address racism in America.
In an <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/us-needs-reparations-black-americans_n_5ede5dfbc5b6fb8854dd8d00">interview with HuffPost</a>, Baradaran details her stance on reparations for the black community.  As noted in the article, Baradaran was asked by a Twitter user what her solution would be to solve racial unrest, in which she responded, “Reparations.” Baradaran had previously used her <a href="https://twitter.com/MehrsaBaradaran">Twitter account</a> to advocate for reparations and urge presidential candidates, including Vice-President Kamala Harris, to adopt them as a policy.

In the same interview with HuffPost, Baradaran states that America “broke a contract with black America,” and thus reparations are the only way to provide relief to minorities. When asked what this would look like, Baradaran references her previous proposal, the <a href="https://greatdemocracyinitiative.org/document/21st-century-homestead-act/">21st Century Homestead Act</a>. The act would implement, among other things, a “progressive” tax system, school reform, regulating corporations, the “wholesale transfer” of land to black men and women, and monetary reparations.

The interview continues with Baradaran describing the act of policing as deeply racist and based on “policing black freedom” in the South during the Jim Crow era. Before comparing police and police departments to cancer, Baradaran advocates for the complete defunding of police.

The Professor Watchlist team reached out to Mehrsa Baradaran regarding our assessment that she states that reparations will heal America’s “original sin of racism,” that she urged major presidential candidates to adopt reparations, that she’s stated capitalism in based on white supremacy, and that she stated that the “cancer” in police departments must be treated to stop police killings.

<a href="https://www.law.uci.edu/faculty/full-time/goodwin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michele Goodwin</a> is a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine.

In a May 2022 article titled “<a href="https://msmagazine.com/2022/05/24/abortion-slavery-reproductive-freedom-13th-amendment-constitution-black-women-history/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Urgency for Reproductive Freedom: From Slavery to the New Jane Crow</a>” Goodwin shares her thoughts on “reproductive justice”. She writes:
“If the Supreme Court dismantles Roe v. Wade and its legacy of jurisprudence, it will bring significant harm to all women and all people capable of pregnancy in anti-abortion states, while imposing a death sentence for Black and Brown women.” 
Goodwin also states that the “Fugitive Slave Acts” are the predecessors of Texas Senate Bill 8, which bans abortions after six weeks. She claims that the bill “incentivizes private individuals to spy upon, surveil and interfere with others who are asserting fundamental human and constitutional rights such as bodily autonomy, privacy and freedom.” Goodwin continues by writing, “state lawmakers force their [reproductive people] bodies into the service of state interests.”

Goodwin adds, “Texas, Mississippi and other states with “trigger” bans make clear that the essences of chattel bondage and the draft have returned—but only for women, girls and pregnant-capable people.”

Finally, Goodwin argues, “Black women are the canaries in the coal mine, and this period marks the New Jane Crow.” The New Jane Crow is a play on words designed to associate with <a href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/freedom-riders-jim-crow-laws/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jim Crow laws</a> which enforced racial segregation.

<a href="https://canarymission.org/professors/joy-karega/">Dr. Joy Karega</a> is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition at Oberlin College. She posted a series of anti-Semitic Facebook posts in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo terror attacks. In these posts, Karega placed the blame for the attacks on Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After being fired by the university for her comments in 2016, Karega sued and eventually <a href="https://chroniclet.com/news/200709/fired-professor-oberlin-college-settle-lawsuit/">settled</a> for an undisclosed amount.

<a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/mohammad-jafar-mahallati" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mohammad Jafar Mahallati</a> is a Professor of Religion and the Nancy Dye Chair in Middle East and North African Studies at Oberlin College. From 1987-1989, he served as the Ambassador to the United Nations on behalf of Iran. In that role, he is accused of covering up Iran’s executions of political prisoners and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel on the world stage.

As the Jerusalem Post <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a>, a group of Iranian political prisoners and human rights activists sent a letter to the president of Oberlin College demanding that the college dismiss Mahallati for his role in Iran’s infamous 1988 mass executions. Over the course of several months of 1988, it is <a href="https://townhall.com/columnists/taharboumedra/2021/01/19/pleading-for-justice-to-the-victims-of-1988-mass-executions-of-political-prisoners-in-iran-n2583360" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estimated</a> that Iran executed as many as 30,000 political prisoners.

In a <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/iranian-diplomat-turned-us-professor-accused-of-crimes-against-humanity-645107" target="_blank" rel="noopener">response</a> to the Jerusalem Post, Mahallati states that he had no knowledge of the massacres. He claims that his accusers have produced no evidence implicating him in the killings, and Mahallati “categorically” denies receiving any information regarding Iran’s mass executions while serving as an Ambassador.

“The accusers fail to provide a single solid document as evidence of my actual knowledge of these incidents. With no concrete evidence, they infer that I must have been informed and intentionally denied these atrocities. I categorically deny any knowledge and therefore responsibility regarding mass executions in Iran when I was serving at the United Nations.” - Mahallati

Mahallati, in his role as Iran’s ambassador to the UN, vocally downplayed and excused the executions. In a thread of Tweets, Iranian human rights activist Kaveh Shahrooz <a href="https://twitter.com/kshahrooz/status/1314261433291542532/photo/1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents</a> that Mahallati not only <a href="https://www.un.org/en/ga/search/view_doc.asp?symbol=E/CN.4/1989/26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledges</a> the executions before the UN at that time, but attempts to excuse them as battlefield casualties or sensationalized propaganda from Iraq.

During his two-year delegation to the United Nations, Mahallati frequently denied the right of Israel to exist and praised Palestinian terrorists. As Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/oberlin-professor-of-peace-iranian-ambassador-destruction-of-israel-1989-speech">reports</a>, Mahallati, who refers to Israel as a “Zionist entity,” states before the UN that Israel’s founding was a “violation of International law.”

Praising the Palestinian uprising, known as the “Intifada,” Mahallati <a href="https://undocs.org/en/S/PV.2847">describes</a> the campaign as a “holy struggle against oppression and Zionism.” In a speech to the United Nations, he pledges support on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the “liberation of all of Palestine'' and the destruction of Israel.

In a response to a Fox News inquiry about Mahallati, Oberlin College spokesman Scott Wargo <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/oberlin-professor-of-peace-iranian-ambassador-destruction-of-israel-1989-speech">states</a>, “Professor Mahallati is a tenured professor and has seen a teacher at Oberlin since 2007. We have received the letter today expressing concerns about his statements during a meeting with the United Nations representatives more than 30 years ago. We are in touch with Professor Mahallati to gather additional information.”

In a letter sent to Oberlin President Carmen Twillie, and published in The Oberlin Review,  577 signatories <a href="https://oberlinreview.org/21828/opinions/hiring-mohammad-mahallati-against-oberlins-mission-and-vision/">call</a> for Mahallati to be “removed from his position” at Oberlin. The letter also states that his appointment is at “fundamental odds” with Oberlin’s stated values.

The Oberlin Review also reports that Mahallati is the <a href="https://oberlinreview.org/21855/news/religion-professor-denies-accusations-of-human-rights-abuses-cover-up/">founder</a> of the “Friendship Initiative.” According to the Friendship Initiative’s website, the <a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/friendship">goal</a> of the organization is to promote friendship as a “radical framework for developing international, interfaith, and intercultural justice and peace.” Mahallati also hosts Oberlin College’s annual “<a href="https://www.oberlin.edu/events/oberlin_friendship_festival_a_virtual_event">Friendship Festival</a>” which claims to celebrate interfaith peace and justice.

In further unearthed statements, Dr. Mahallati <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/oberlin-colleges-professor-peace-endorsed-fatwa-murder-salman-rushdie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">endorsed the "fatwa"—or sentence of death—leveled against author Salaman Rushdie for criticizing Islam. </a>

The fatwa was <a href="https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/salman-rushdie-satanic-verses-fatwa-iran">issued by Iran's Supreme Leader—Ayatollah Kh0meini—in 1989, which called upon "all brave Muslims" to kill Rushdie</a> for authoring The Satanic Verses. It has never been rescinded.

When asked about the fatwa while serving as Ambassador, Dr. Mahallati responded: "I think all Islamic countries agree with Iran. All Islamic nations and countries agree with Iran that any blasphemous statement against sacred figures should be condemned."

He continued, "I think if Western countries really believe and respect freedom of speech, therefore they should also respect our freedom of speech. We certainly use that right in order to express ourselves, our religious belief, in the case of any blasphemous statement against sacred Islamic figures."

Ruha Benjamin serves as the <a href="https://aas.princeton.edu/people/ruha-benjamin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of Graduate Affairs and a Professor for the Department of African American Studies</a> at Princeton University. Her university profile says she “specializes in the interdisciplinary study of science, medicine, and technology with a focus on the relationship between innovation and social equity.” 
Professor Benjamin is the author of several publications including a book titled “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Race_After_Technology/G6-hDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race After Technology: Abolitionist Tools for the New Jim Code</a>.” The book explores how “emerging technologies can reinforce White supremacy and deepen social inequity.”
The introduction contains a section called Race as Technology where she states that technology is “designed to separate, stratify, and sanctify the many forms of injustice experienced by members of racialized groups, but one that people routinely reimagine and redeploy to other ends.”

In a <a href="https://youtu.be/rY8RkET3KC0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video discussing her reasons for writing</a> “Race After Technology,” Benjamin gave an example of how technology is racist. She said, “Two friends [were] using an automated soap dispenser and the soap wouldn’t come out [for] the individual with darker skin because darker skin absorbs light. So if it’s infrared technology, it’s not going to work as effectively.”
Professor Benjamin <a href="https://youtu.be/_8RrX4hjCr0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also gave a Ted Talk</a> where she used laboratory and park benches to discuss how “the idea of discriminatory design is a global phenomenon.” She also says, “I think at the heart of discriminatory design is this idea that we can create technological fixes for social crises…we create short-term responses that often get the issues out of sight, out of mind.”

Peter Singer is a Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University. As a philosopher and self-identified “<a href="https://longtermrisk.org/hedonistic-vs-preference-utilitarianism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hedonistic utilitarian</a>,” Dr. Singer holds a number of controversial views on human and animal ethics. These include stances on abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide.

More than an advocate for abortion, Dr. Singer claims there is nothing inherently immoral about killing a child.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB5IZXGmk08&amp;feature=emb_title" target="_blank" rel="noopener">During a debate at Harvard University</a>, Dr. Singer recognized that fetuses in the womb are living human beings. However, he added people—including those not yet born—have varying degrees of value based on whether or not they feel pain.

He further claimed that only people who are fully conscious or feel pain have a right to their own lives. Abortion, he argued, cannot be considered immoral. Dr. Singer acknowledges that his stance presents a “challenging” problem regarding recently-born children.

Dr. Singer has also justified infanticide for babies that are disabled or have serious health conditions. In the 1979 edition of Practical Ethics, he wrote: “<a href="https://archive.org/details/practicalethics0000sing/page/n3/mode/2up" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Killing a defective infant is not morally equivalent to killing a person. Sometimes it is not wrong at all</a>.”

Many have accused <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/human-exceptionalism/peter-singer-eugenicist-wesley-j-smith/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Singer of being sympathetic to eugenics</a> due to his apparent empathy towards parents who <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/human-exceptionalism/peter-singer-eugenicist-wesley-j-smith/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">select particular genes in human fetuses for more desirable children</a>.

During a 2015 radio interview, Dr. Singer argued that it was “reasonable” <a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/ethics-professor-kill-severely-disabled-infants-under-obamacare/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to euthanize disabled infants to prevent higher premiums under Obamacare</a>. In a Q&amp;A hosted on his personal website, Dr. Singer <a href="https://petersinger.info/faq/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims that newborns are not persons as they have “no sense of the future</a>.”

“[Killing] a newborn baby is never equivalent to killing a person, that is, a being who wants to go on living.”

Dr. Singer added that although killing an infant is a “terrible thing to do,” parents should have the freedom to end the life of their newborn. He added that the presiding doctor would then take steps to “swiftly and humanely” end the child’s life.

According to his biography, Dr. Singer <a href="https://uchv.princeton.edu/people/peter-singer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has been teaching at Princeton since 1999</a>. He authored other books on utilitarianism, veganism, and animal liberation.

In one tweet, she alleges that Israel is attempting to “annihilate” Palestine:

Dr. Taylor likewise alleges the United States is a brutally racist and oppressive society. In an article for the Marxist publication, Jacobin,<a href="https://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/05/reparations-slavery-racism-united-states-foundation" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> she depicts racism as foundational to the United States</a>.

A frequent critic of policing, which she views as systemic racism embedded in the United States, Dr. Taylor lauds the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement as a “liberation struggle.” With communist, vice-presidential candidate, and Black Panther Party member, <a href="https://www.professorwatchlist.org/professor/angeladavis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Angela Davis</a>, writing the forward, Dr. Taylor’s book—<a href="https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1646-from-blacklivesmatter-to-black-liberation-expanded-second-edition">From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation</a>—she praises the movement for having “awakened a new generation of activists” that will fight for “black liberation.”

BLM was <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/six-years-strong/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">founded following the death</a> of Treyvon Martin and the trial of George Zimmerman for his murder. After a jury acquitted Zimmerman in 2013, <a href="https://patrissecullors.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Patrice Cullors</a> joined with <a href="https://aliciagarza.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alicia Garza</a> and <a href="https://www.opaltometi.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Opal Tometi</a> to found an organization, <a href="https://blacklivesmatter.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">as stated on its website</a>.

“....whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes.” 

BLM came to further prominence following the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/gunshots-looting-after-grand-jury-in-ferguson-case-does-not-indict-officer-in-michael-brown-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">riots in Ferguson, Missouri</a> in reaction to the acquittal of police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of robbery suspect, Michael Brown. Although later determined that Brown had attacked the officer, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/hands-up-dont-shoot-makes-wapos-list-of-outlandish-claims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BLM was instrumental in spreading the lie</a> that Brown was shot at point-blank range with his hands raised.

In an interview with the progressive news outlet, DemocracyNow, in June of 2020, Dr. Taylor praises the BLM movement’s fight against systemic racism, stating that our nation is witnessing <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMOG-W_X9m8&amp;ab_channel=DemocracyNow%21" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an “uprising” against “racial terrorism” being inflicted upon black Americans by police officers</a>.

According to a <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">study conducted by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED)</a>, BLM can be linked to 95% of the riots around the country–notably in Summer 2020 following the death of George Floyd. In an analysis of the study, <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/16/study-up-to-95-percent-of-2020-u-s-riots-are-linked-to-black-lives-matter/">The Federalist</a> found, “of the 633 incidents coded as riots, 88 percent are recorded as involving Black Lives Matter Activists.” The resulting riots were the largest in American history, <a href="https://fee.org/articles/george-floyd-riots-caused-record-setting-2-billion-in-damage-new-report-says-here-s-why-the-true-cost-is-even-higher/#:~:text=Only%20now%20are%20we%20beginning,%241%20billion%20to%20%242%20billion." target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing an estimated $2 billion in damages and 47 deaths.</a>

In separate Twitter posts, Dr. Taylor has condemned capitalism as being inherently exploitative while promoting the merits of socialism.

Dr. Taylor’s positive view on socialism extends to the embrace of communist dictatorships. While attending the “This is Socialism!” conference in 2017, Dr. Taylor delivered a speech that <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndSASqMLYMg&amp;ab_channel=WeAreManyMedia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">praised the Russian Revolution</a> for its inspiration towards American communists and "revolution" against capitalism.

Despite her praise, the Bolshevik Revolution and the resulting formation of the Soviet Union cost millions of lives. Upon overthrowing the Russian government in October 1917, Vladimir Lenin immediately set up <a href="https://duckduckgo.com/?q=lenin%27s+red+terror&amp;atb=v263-1&amp;ia=web" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a series of concentration camps for political prisoners and led the Soviet secret police in a brutal crackdown</a> known as the “Red Terror.” As many as one million people perished before the carnage ended with the cessation of the Russian Civil War in 1921. Over the course of the USSR's existence, as <a href="https://fee.org/articles/the-staggering-toll-of-the-russian-revolution/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">many as 60 million people perished under Soviet rule</a>.

In recognition of her work, Dr. Taylor was <a href="https://aas.princeton.edu/news/2021-macarthur-fellow-keeanga-yamahtta-taylor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded a MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Award</a> in 2021. The <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/28/us/macarthur-genius-grant-winners-2021/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">foundation grants $625,000</a> for each recipient's <a href="https://www.macfound.org/programs/fellows/strategy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“exceptional creativity” and “track record of significant accomplishments.”</a>

Wallace D. Best is a <a href="https://aas.princeton.edu/people/wallace-d-best" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hughes-Rogers Professor in the Department of African American Studies and the Department of Religion</a> at Princeton University. He’s also the Director of the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Best was featured in a 2020 Princeton press release titled <a href="https://www.princeton.edu/news/2020/09/30/wallace-best-leads-program-gender-and-sexuality-studies-dynamic-new-era" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wallace Best leads the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies into a dynamic new era</a>. In the article, Best responds to questions regarding his experience with feminine studies. When asked, “What is the value of studying gender and sexuality studies in the current era in America?,” Best said:
“It’s interdisciplinary in that it’s connected to more historically formal disciplines like sociology, political science and religion, but draws each in robust and engaging ways. I think about what’s happening with the Black Lives Matter movement, for example. Some of that activist work is born from the scholarship within the intellectual orbit — scholars who have centered issues of gender and sexuality in its inextricable connection to race, class, location and ethnicity.” 
He continued,
“So, when I see those protests, I feel quite proud that some of what the leaders say is born from the discourses of feminism, Black feminism, queer studies, and from gender and sexuality studies. So, I would say this is one of the most exciting times to be involved in this field.”
Best also holds a Ph.D. in Religion. His areas of research and teaching include African American religious history, religion and literature, Pentecostalism, and Womanist theology. One course Best teaches, <a href="https://religion.princeton.edu/courses/spring-2022/black-women-and-spiritual-narrative" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Black Women and Spiritual Narrative</a>,” focuses on “the hypothesis that religious metaphor and symbolism have figured prominently in Black women’s writing across literary genres.” He’s currently working on a book entitled “The Spiritual Capital of Black America: Twentieth Century Harlem’s World of Religion and Churches.”

Catherine Clune-Taylor is an <a href="https://gss.princeton.edu/people/catherine-clune-taylor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assistant Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies</a> at Princeton University. Her interests are focused on the Philosophy of Sex, Gender and Sexuality, as well as Feminist Theory, Bioethics, and the work of Michel Foucault — a deceased philosopher and political activist.

Clune-Taylor was featured in a Princeton Alumni Weekly article titled “<a href="https://paw.princeton.edu/article/conversation-science-ethics-and-policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Conversation: Science, Ethics, and Policy.</a>” Her research is described as taking “an interdisciplinary and intersectional feminist approach to the science, bioethics, and biopolitics of medically managing intersex conditions in children.” In the article, she discussed her values and views on medical discrimination against “patients of color” and those on the gender spectrum.

Her Princeton <a href="https://gss.princeton.edu/people/catherine-clune-taylor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profile</a> states she earned a Ph.D. from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Alberta. Her dissertation was in defense of “ethics and politics of medical production” in cisgendered people. “[The] project considers the revised treatment model of intersex conditions introduced in 2006 — which is controversially reclassified them as Disorders of Sex Development (DSDs).” 

Clune-Taylor’s <a href="https://www.clune-taylor.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal website</a> says she’s an Assistant Professor of Feminist Science and Technology Studies in the Department of Women’s Studies at San Diego State University. She further highlights her Ph.D. focus of “[exploring] the various bio-scientific, political, and bureaucratic efforts…to force individuals into ‘cisgendered futures.’” She also offers diversity, equity, and inclusion lectures across multiple academic disciplines.

Anne McClintock is Princeton University’s <a href="https://gss.princeton.edu/people/anne-mcclintock" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A. Barton Hepburn Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies</a>. She’s also an Affiliated Faculty for the Princeton Environmental Institute and Department of English and serves on the Executive Committee of the Program in American Studies.

McClintock’s faculty profile says her “interdisciplinary and transitional work — both scholarly and creative — explores the intersections between race, gender and sexualities; imperialism and globalization.” Her interests also include sexual and gender violence, climate chaos, and animal studies.

McClintock is the author of “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Imperial_Leather/wRwiAQAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Imperial Leather: Race, Gender and Sexuality in the Colonial Contest</a>.” The publisher notes that the book “chronicles the dangerous liaisons between gender, race and class that shaped British imperialism and its bloody dismantling.” In one chapter called The White Family of Man, she says,
“King Solomon’s Mines was [sic] intimately concerned with events in South Africa following the discovery of diamonds and then gold: specifically, the reordering of women’s sexuality and work in the African homestead and the diversion of black male labor into the mines.”
She continues, 
“The Story illuminates not only relations between the imperial metropolis and the colonies but also the refashioning of gender relations in South Africa, as a nascent capitalism penetrated the region and disrupted already contested power relations with the homesteads.”
In 2019, McClintock was among several Princeton faculty members who participated in a campus strike. <a href="https://paw.princeton.edu/article/princeton-students-faculty-join-community-climate-strike" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Princeton Alumni Weekly</a> listed her as an event speaker in a protest to “demand climate justice.” That same year, she was also featured in The Nation’s article titled “<a href="https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/princeton-students-are-sitting-in-for-title-ix-reform/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Princeton Students are Sitting in for Title IX Reform</a>.” This protest was organized after “believe all women” posters appeared in campus bathrooms and “Title IX protects rapists” was graffitied on a walking path.

Brian Herrera is the <a href="https://effroncenter.princeton.edu/people/brian-herrera" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associate Professor of Theater at the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University</a> and the Director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program. 

Herrera also serves as a core faculty member in the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies. His research “examines the history of gender, sexuality and race within and through U.S. popular performance.” His interests include Latinx theatre, LGBTQ+ performance history, and equity and access in the Performing Arts.

In July 2022, Herrera received the Betty Jean Jones Award and was featured in an article for Princeton’s <a href="https://arts.princeton.edu/news/2022/07/theater-professor-brian-herrera-wins-betty-jean-jones-award-for-excellence-in-teaching/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lewis Center of Arts News</a>. The article says, “The annual award [established in 1997] honors individuals who have achieved excellence as college/university teachers and mentors in the field of American theater.” The award committee further notes, “Herrera’s personal impact on students is especially resonant for students of color, first generation, and LGBTQ+ students who are buoyed by the ‘representation in action’ that is generated by [his] highly participatory presence.”

Herrera has written several books and articles on gender ideology and hosts a <a href="https://www.brianherrera.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">personal website</a> that provides instructions on essay writing. In January 2021, he published a blog titled “<a href="https://www.brianherrera.org/2021/01/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">How to Write an Essay on Gender and Sexuality?</a>” He acknowledged that “students all over the world get writing assignments on this topic” and offered practical tips for arranging a successful paper. In 2009, he was published in <a href="https://glreview.org/article/article-570/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Gay &amp; Lesbian Review</a> where he reflected on his admiration for the gay activist and politician named Harvey Milk.

Ruha Benjamin serves as the <a href="https://aas.princeton.edu/people/ruha-benjamin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Director of Graduate Affairs and a Professor for the Department of African American Studies</a> at Princeton University. Her university profile says she “specializes in the interdisciplinary study of science, medicine, and technology with a focus on the relationship between innovation and social equity.” 

Professor Benjamin is the author of several publications including a book titled “<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Race_After_Technology/G6-hDwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Race After Technology: Abolitionist Tools for the New Jim Code</a>.” The book explores how “emerging technologies can reinforce White supremacy and deepen social inequity.”

The introduction contains a section called Race as Technology where she states that technology is “designed to separate, stratify, and sanctify the many forms of injustice experienced by members of racialized groups, but one that people routinely reimagine and redeploy to other ends.”

In a <a href="https://youtu.be/rY8RkET3KC0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">video discussing her reasons for writing</a> “Race After Technology,” Benjamin gave an example of how technology is racist. She said, “Two friends [were] using an automated soap dispenser and the soap wouldn’t come out [for] the individual with darker skin because darker skin absorbs light. So if it’s infrared technology, it’s not going to work as effectively.”

Professor Benjamin <a href="https://youtu.be/_8RrX4hjCr0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">also gave a Ted Talk</a> where she used laboratory and park benches to discuss how “the idea of discriminatory design is a global phenomenon.” She also says, “I think at the heart of discriminatory design is this idea that we can create technological fixes for social crises…we create short-term responses that often get the issues out of sight, out of mind.”

Gayle Salamon is a <a href="https://english.princeton.edu/people/gayle-salamon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Professor of English and Gender and Sexuality Studies</a> at Princeton University. Salamon’s faculty profile says her research interests include phenomenology, feminist philosophy, queer and transgender theory, contemporary Continental philosophy, and disability studies.

In Salamon’s Introductory to Gender and Sexual Studies course, she tackles questions such as: “What does it mean to be a woman or a man? Or neither?” “How do gender and sexuality, those seemingly most personal and private of attributes, emerge from networks of power and social relations?”

Her published works include two manuscripts, <a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/Assuming_a_Body/s-idAwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=assuming+a+body&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">“Assuming a Body: Transgender and Rhetorics of Materiality,”</a>  and<a href="https://www.google.com/books/edition/The_Life_and_Death_of_Latisha_King/bb84DwAAQBAJ?hl=en&amp;gbpv=1&amp;dq=the+life+and+death+of+latisha+king&amp;printsec=frontcover" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> “The Life and Death of Latisha King: A Critical Phenomenology of Transphobia."</a> She also published a peer-reviewed article titled <a href="https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/The-Meontology-of-Masculinity%3A-Notes-on-Castration-Salamon/3784451626c47802e5acd00654de96bf5a7f8222#paper-header" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Meontology of Masculinity: Notes on Castration Elation</a>. (Meontology is the philosophical study of non-being.)

In the Meontology of Masculinity abstract, Salamon cites LGBT “scholars” and says, “Gender is a matter of behavior, but also a result of ‘the more subtle channels of posture, carriage, gaze, and manner of leaning into some (more masculine) things away from other (more feminine) things.’ [Gender scholars] call for a phenomenology of lived gender experiences, to do justice to the variety of ways in which gender can be experienced and also perceived.”

In a <a href="https://thecriticallede.com/066-interview-with-gayle-salamon-author-of-assuming-a-body/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2012 podcast interview with The Critical Lede,</a> Salamon discussed her book “Assuming a Body.” In thinking about the idea of “a man trapped in a woman’s body, and a woman trapped in a man’s body,” she said, “I keep looking for a book that was going to engage both of those things at the same time…My hope was to try to bring together some of the ideas about how we come to inhabit our bodies [and] what is the relationship between the body that everybody else in the world sees and the body that I feel myself to have.”

<a href="https://politics.princeton.edu/people/richard-falk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richard Falk</a> is a Professor of International Law and Practice at Princeton University and a Research Associate at the Orfalea Center of Global Studies at the University of California - Santa Barbara. 

Dr. Falk has labeled Israel a racist, apartheid state that’s committing an ongoing genocide. 

The term “apartheid” refers to the legal system of <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/apartheid/Opposition-to-apartheid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">racial discrimination and separation in South Africa</a> from the 1950s to 1994. He has further alleged the true identity of the 9/11 hijackers has been covered up and blamed Israel for terrorist attacks in America. 

In an article titled, “<a href="http://www.oldsite.transnational.org/Area_MiddleEast/2007/Falk_PalestineGenocide.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Slouching toward a Palestinian Holocaust</a>,” Falk compares Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians to the extermination of the Jews in the Holocaust. He claims that Israel’s actions are “morally far worse” than the genocides committed in Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

Further in the article, Falk defends the terrorist organization Hamas as the duly elected representative of the Palestinian people. He claims the group has renounced violence and is willing to make peace with Israel. 

During a separate interview with DemocracyNow!, Falk praised the group for its “spirit of resistance” and again claimed that Hamas seeks “peaceful, co-existence with Israel.”

An Islamist terrorist group, Hamas’s charter calls for the <a href="https://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/hamas.asp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">destruction of Israel and the death of all Jews:</a>
“Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors.” - Hamas Charter
The organization is known to <a href="https://palwatch.org/page/18217" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deploy suicide bombers</a> and <a href="https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/05/prelude-to-war-palestinian-terrorists-fire-hundreds-of-rockets-at-israel-from-and-to-civilian-areas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fire rockets</a> that target civilian areas; Hamas is responsible for the deaths of <a href="https://www.fdd.org/in_the_news/2021/05/26/faq-hamas/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thousands of Israelis and at least 25 Americans</a>. 

Despite his views, Dr. Falk was chosen by the United Nations to serve as the Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Human Rights. From this position, he accused Israel of ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in a report titled,”<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20170316054753/https://www.unescwa.org/sites/www.unescwa.org/files/publications/files/israeli-practices-palestinian-people-apartheid-occupation-english.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Israeli Practices toward the Palestinian People and the Question of Apartheid.</a>” 

The report maligns Israel as a “racial state” that pursues “racial domination” and forcible displacement of the Palestinians. Falk recommends that Israel be investigated by the International Criminal Court and that international governments hold unilateral trials for Israeli officials. 

He urges businesses to boycott the state as part of the BDS campaign. BDS—short for Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions—embraces the following three tenets as a feature of the campaign: 

- Boycotting all goods that originate from the state of Israel;

- Divesting all funds (private or public) that are allocated to Israel; and

- Placing sanctions exclusively on Israel. 

Following the publication of the document, Dr. Falk doubled down on his stance in an interview with The Forward, further calling for the <a href="https://forward.com/news/breaking-news/164986/richard-falk-calls-for-corporate-israel-boycott/#ixzz2APbfkSvl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">boycott of any company</a> that does business in Israel:
“My main recommendation is that the businesses highlighted in the report – as well as the many other businesses that are profiting from the Israeli settlement enterprise – should be boycotted until they bring their operations into line with international human rights and humanitarian law and standards.” 
Elsewhere, Dr. Falk has <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2017/07/un-anti-israel-bias-richard-falk-pro-iran-9-11-truther-investigates-jewish-state/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disputed that Al-Qaeda is solely responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks</a>. In an interview on the site, Truth Jihad, he endorsed the idea the <a href="https://freebeacon.com/politics/special-rapporteur-for-911-truth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highjackings might have been a false-flag operation</a>. He further authored a blog post, “<a href="https://richardfalk.org/2013/04/19/a-commentary-on-the-marathon-murders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">A Commentary on the Marathon Murders</a>,” that blamed the Boston Bombings on the foreign policy of DC and Tel Aviv. 

Due to his views, Dr. Falk was <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2008/dec/19/israel-palestinian-territories-united-nations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">banned from Israel in 2008</a>. Although officially retired from teaching, he still holds the position of professor emeritus at Princeton.

Christopher Nunez is a formerly undocumented, visually impaired choreographer, educator, and accessibility consultant who was named Princeton University Arts Fellow for 2022-2024. Nunez’s university <a href="https://arts.princeton.edu/news/2022/03/princeton-arts-fellows-for-2022-2024-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fellowship announcement says</a>, “His performances have been presented at The Brooklyn Museum for The Immigrant Artist Biennale…” and “his work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times…” 

His personal biography webpage states,

“Since his arrival in NYC, Nunez has supported and worked for different social causes, groups, and organizations for the rights of undocumented, disabled, indigenous, and LGBT+ people. He has been the Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility for Dance/NYC…[and was] a core member of the Artists of Color Council at Movement Research.”

“Nunez [is the] Founder of the Accessibility Advisory Team (AAT), a group of disabled artists who advise Movement Research on accessibility and inclusion practices through its various departments and platform.”

Nunez teaches a course called “<a href="https://arts.princeton.edu/courses/introduction-to-radical-access-disability-justice-in-the-arts/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Introduction to Radical Access: Disability Justice in the Arts.</a>”  The class introduction says, “Disability is front and center in a global social justice revolution…This course invites all artists, from choreographers to theater makers, filmmakers, visual artists, writers, and composers to immerse in a highly collaborative, improvisational, experimental and inclusive community to explore Disability Justice…”

<a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/princeton-agender-and-neurodivergent-performer-flaunts-disability-and-anti-technique/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The College Fix reports</a>, “The ‘Intro to Radical Access’ Princeton Dance program and Program for Community Engaged Scholarship hosted [a] ‘anti-technique’ performance.” However, Catholic students were moved to pray against evil spirits after attending the controversial dance performance that featured Nunez and two other "disabled" artists.

The performance showcased the artistic abilities of the disabled, mentally ill, and trans-identifying students. According to the College Fix, Nunez said, “‘This is the first time that we get to experience in a more pragmatic, practical way what access, accessibility, and access artistry means.’”

Gabrie’l Atchison is the instructor for AAS 220/GSS 229: Body Politics: Black Queer Visibility and Representation at Princeton University. The <a href="https://registrar.princeton.edu/course-offerings/course-details?term=1234&amp;courseid=016604" target="_blank" rel="noopener">class description</a> states that the curriculum will “examine Black LGBTQ+ representation across various media including documentaries, television, social media, and literature.”

Atchison’s profile — which can only be found on the class description page — also shows her research “includes gender-based environmental violence, environmental racism/justice, ecofeminism, feminist/queer theology…Black church history…and African American women’s literary criticism.” 

Atchison contributes to a blog called <a href="https://www.antiracistdevotional.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anti-Racist Devotional</a>. On <a href="https://www.antiracistdevotional.org/dr-gabriel-atchison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Atchison’s About page</a> she describes herself as a “Black Feminist theologian” and the Congregational Development Director at Trinity Episcopal Church who researches “the role of the church in the racial identity development of Black Episcopalians.”

In her book titled “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B6GQR4FJ/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0?asin=B0B6GQR4FJ&amp;revisionId=ca68030b&amp;format=1&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Are You the Unchurched?: How to Develop an Authentic Relationship with God inside or outside the Church</a>,” Atchison remarked on survey results from a Christian research institute. She said,

“Overwhelmingly, young adults who were studied named hostility toward [LGBTQ+] people as the reason they do not attend church…Based on my understanding of the research, the unchurched are Christians who are:

In the opening paragraph of Atchison’s 2020 blog entry “<a href="https://gabrieljatchison.wordpress.com/2020/11/22/the-folly-of-hope/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Folly of Hope</a>,” she declared,


“Trump exposed all our fault lines due to systemic racism, class exploitation and greed. His initial election and very close re-election should act as a clarion call for us to enact sweeping and lasting social change…”

“Trump has no agenda, but his Puppet Masters do…This election exposed in a raw and unrelenting way, how many people in positions of power feel like people of color simply do not have the right to vote.”

Atchison goes on to identify herself as a “progressive [who finds] Joe Biden significantly inadequate for the task at hand.” She disagrees with any approach Biden may have to unite the nation and she believes the Democratic Party passed up “so many better qualified presidential candidates, with creative ideas…to elect a man whose platform is centrist and apolog[ist].”

<a href="https://history.princeton.edu/people/kevin-m-kruse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin Kruse</a> is a Professor of History and the Director of the Center for Collaborative History at Princeton University. His faculty biography says Kruse “studies the political social, and urban/suburban history of 20th-century America.” He’s also “focused on conflicts over race, rights, and religion…[with] particular interests in segregation and the civil rights movement.”

Kruse has published several manuscripts including a 2005 book entitled “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/White-Flight-Atlanta-Conservatism-Politics/dp/0691133867?asin=0691133867&amp;revisionId=&amp;format=4&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White Flight: Atlanta and the Making of Modern Conservatism.</a>” Kruse introduces the novel by stating,

“This book explores the causes and course of white flight, with Atlanta serving as its vantage point…While many have assumed that white flight was little more than a literal movement of the white population, this book argues that it represented a much more important transformation in the political ideology of those involved.”

He continued,

“Because of their confrontation with the civil rights movement, white southern conservatives were forced to abandon their traditional, populist, and often starkly racist demagoguery and instead craft a new conservatism predicated on a language of rights, freedom, and individualism.”

In June 2022, <a href="https://freebeacon.com/campus/double-standards-princeton-turns-blind-eye-to-plagiarism-from-woke-professor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Free Beacon</a> featured Kruse in an article titled “Double Standards: Princeton Turns Blind Eye to Plagiarism From Woke Professor.” According to the Beacon, “On December 6, the economic historian Phillip Magness emailed Princeton’s dean of faculty, Gene Jarrett, with evidence that [Kruse] plagiarized several passages of his 2015 book ‘One Nation Under God.’”

Magness cited passages of Kruse’s book as allegedly originating from a New York Times Article that was published in the mid-1960s. The Beacon said, “The university never replied to Magness’s email…and has not announced an investigation of Kruse.”

<a href="https://www.dailyprincetonian.com/article/2022/08/kevin-kruse-plagiarism-allegations-academic-princeton-investigation-phillip-magness-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According to the Daily Princetonian</a>, “Kruse expressed ‘surprise’ at the allegations and attributed the lack of citations in one instance to an inadvertent oversight.” Kruse also allegedly plagiarized a professor in his 2000 Cornell University doctoral thesis. The Princetonian quoted an email response from Kruse stating,

“‘While I indicated my intellectual debts to [author] Prof. Baylor else in the text, endnotes and bibliography of the dissertation, I was surprised to see that there was an instance in the introduction [where] I failed to do so properly.’”

<a href="https://sociology.princeton.edu/people/frederick-wherry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Frederick Wherry</a> is the Class of 1917 Professor of Sociology at Princeton University. In June 2022, he was named the inaugural vice dean for diversity and inclusion by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty.

Princeton’s Office of Communications <a href="https://www.princeton.edu/news/2022/06/30/wherry-appointed-vice-dean-diversity-and-inclusion-princetons-office-dean-faculty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published Wherry’s appointment</a> in an announcement wherein the university president said, “‘After spending time with Professor Wherry and learning more about the impact and interventions of his scholarship, [and] his profound commitment to educating our students…he struck me as the ideal colleague to augur our efforts in fulfilling the vision of the vice dean for diversity and inclusion.’”

In the same publication, Wherry said,

“‘Diversity and inclusion are critical to our core mission. When our faculty and academic professionals can participate fully in our shared endeavor, we are all able to see problems in new ways, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, making way for innovation.’”

As the Director of the <a href="https://www.dignityanddebt.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Digntiy and Debt Network</a>, Wherry leads an organization of “experts” who research concepts of “dignity, respect, and fairness” in lending and debt collection. The organization studies debt along racial and socio-economic lines and states one of its goals is “to change the conversation about credit and debt among those measuring financial access and wellness…[b]y developing novel visualizations of dignity and debt…”

Wherry is in favor of canceling student loan debt. He believes borrowers are “victims” while lenders are “perpetrators.”

Wherry participated in a panel discussion called “<a href="https://youtu.be/DP7SK_-fXA8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Native Son: Black Gay Leadership Forum</a>” to discuss ideas on wealth creation, social justice, and trauma within communities. When asked about the aspiration of building assets and stronger economic futures among black and gay people, Wherry stated,

“One of the things we have to keep in mind when building assets is that they look different for our community in part because we have a positive effect on our social networks and building assets. People help us out, sometimes we get that ‘white glove treatment’ by virtue of folks who can tell us how to most effectively take advantage of an opportunity when it arises.”

He continued,

“At the same time, we have to be realistic…our social networks also can deplete some of those traditional forms of asset building…When we are providing financial assistance to our kinfolk — when you compare us to our white counterparts, who don’t have the same kinds of requests coming in at the same level of occupation, at the same level of academic achievement — we just have less available for traditional asset-building.”

Knijnenburg made headlines after taking to his Facebook where he unleashed a barrage of insults aimed at Republicans and the GOP. As of the time of this article being written, the school still has refused to comment on the posts. On his website, Knijnenburg says that he uses his research to try to understand the psychological principles behind online decisions such as "Should I post this on Facebook or not?" <a href="https://scholarworks.brandeis.edu/esploro/profile/anita_hannig/overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anita Hannig</a> is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Brandeis University. She teaches courses in the departments of Anthropology, Health, Science, Society, and Policy, as well as Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies.
Hannig’s faculty profile says she specializes in “socio-cultural and medical anthropology; anthropology of death and dying; anthropology of religion, gender and the body; and medical assistance in dying.” In 2015, she “launched a long-term, ethnographic research project on medical aid-in-dying in the United States. This project asked how assisted dying is transforming the ways Americans die.”
On July 6, 2022, Hannig wrote an op-ed titled “‘<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/now/2022/july/assisted-dying-hannig.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assisted suicide’ deserves a different name. Here’s why</a>” in which she offers expert insight into an emerging industry that allows physicians to kill patients legally. In the article, Hannig cited a statistic that says “more than 20% of Americans already live in a state with access to medically assisted death.”
Hannig continued,
“Despite this rapidly changing legal climate, the language for describing this new way to die remains surprisingly antiquated. The term that continues to dominate media coverage on the issue is ‘assisted suicide.’ The American Medical Associate uses the term ‘physician-assisted suicide.’”
“As a cultural anthropologist, I know that how we name something determines how we think about it. Until just recently, the primary term in the English language for the purposeful, voluntary death of oneself was ‘suicide.’ Besides martyrdom or sacrifice, there was no other way to refer to an intentional self-death.”
“Assisted suicide” is not a new way to die, as Hannig claimed. In 2011, a notorious suicide physician named Dr. Jack Kevorkian passed away. During his 50 years of medical practice, Kevorkian — known as “Dr. Death” — killed more than 100 terminally-ill patients and was eventually convicted of second-degree murder. Britannica says, he lobbied for medical experiments on death-row inmates and advocated for establishing suicide clinics.
In her book “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Day-Die-Untold-Assisted-America/dp/1728244919/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1EBE8BKOSTN2L&amp;keywords=the+day+i+die+anita+hannig&amp;qid=1670948560&amp;sprefix=the+day+i+die%2Caps%2C132&amp;sr=8-1&amp;asin=1728244919&amp;revisionId=&amp;format=4&amp;depth=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Day I Die</a>,” Hannig includes a Q &amp; A in the About the Author section. When asked how she became involved in assisted suicides, she said, “I actually fell into this subject by accident. I was showing How to Die in Oregon (the best documentary on assisted dying, I think) in one of my anthropology classes at Brandeis, and I became immediately hooked.” 
Hannig’s book also provides assisted suicide websites that help facilitate conversations and offers tools to assist patients and families plan for premature death.

He said, “I just could not tolerate anymore,” the conservative-direction the political science department had taken, referring subtly to the pro-Israel stance of the university.

Dr. <a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/gsas/admissions/contact.html">Kate Slater</a> is the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Brandeis University. On her personal website, Dr. Slater <a href="https://kateaslater.com/about">describes herself as a “white anti-racist scholar and educator.</a>” In this capacity, Dr. Slater writes that she studies how “white racial identity formation and how racism operates individually, organizationally, and systemically.”

In a now-highly-publicized post on her private Instagram page—obtained by The College Fix—Dr. Slater launched into a<a href="https://www.thecollegefix.com/brandeis-university-dean-yes-all-white-people-are-racist/"> racially inflammatory attack on white people and defended the teaching of Critical Race Theory</a>. Writing that, “all white people are racist,” she claims that American society conditions white people—including herself—to be racist, which justifies the need for critical theory in education.

Critical Theory, or Critical Race Theory, is an <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2012/03/11/what-is-critical-race-theory/">intellectual branch of Marxism that alleges American society and all of its founding institutions are infected with and perpetuate white supremacy</a>. Furthermore, proponents of Critical Race Theory believe that people should take proactive steps to dismantle these institutions in the name of equity, which is also referred to as being “anti-racist.”

Dr. Slater’s website also <a href="https://kateaslater.com/trainings">offers anti-racism training and courses on Critical Race Theory for universities and K-12 institutions</a>. On the promotional page for one such lecture titled 4 Steps to Begin an Antiracist Education—<a href="https://www.unh.edu/unhtoday/2020/07/world-shaped-race">sponsored and promoted by the University of New Hampshire</a>—skin color is described as the determining factor for how successful one's life will be.

In the lecture itself, Dr. Slater states that an antiracist worldview begins with the understanding that a <a href="https://media.unh.edu/media/In-Depth+on+InclusionA+4+Steps+to+Begin+An+Anti-Racist+Education/1_8lg7eccx">white person is never NOT racist in American society</a>. She further divides individuals into two categories: Those with a racist worldview, and those who take antiracist actions.

Dr. Slater urges her white students to personally engage in antiracism throughout the lecture. She even encourages a teacher who was present at the lecture to discuss her stances on antiracism with her own students. At one point, Dr. Slater states that all white people are the “oppressors” and therefore cannot have opinions about racism.

<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/facultyguide/person.html?emplid=6c9f9a9f50eb4c90a05d153652a15549d6bc2f60" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Varun Chaudhry</a> is an Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and an Affiliate Faculty member in African and African American Studies at Brandeis University. Chaudhry’s profile says she is “a cultural anthropologist whose work focuses on gender, race, sexuality, and class in the United States.” 

Chaudhry identifies with the trans community and prefers the pronouns “they/he.” She is listed as a <a href="https://www.appliedtransstudies.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senior and Distinguished Fellow of CATS</a> (The Center for Applied Transgender Studies). The organization's About page says, “We are an independent nonprofit research organization run by transgender people for transgender people.” 

In August 2021, Chaudhry was featured in a <a href="https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/aug/11/remove-male-and-female-from-birth-certificates-her/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Spokesman-Review article</a> titled “Remove ‘male’ and ‘female’ from birth certificates? Here’s why [the] nation’s largest group of physicians recommends it.” The column discusses the American Medical Association’s [AMA] efforts to remove binary gender designation from identification documents. 

Citing a June report, Spokesman-Review said, “The AMA’s LGBTQ+ advisory committee advised the organization to push for removing sex labels from the public part of the birth certificate…But some [LGBTQ+ advocates] cautioned against celebrating the news too soon.”

Chaudhry stated, “People are still really committed to a binary sex model…The recommendation may say sex is not important for something like a birth certificate, but if people are still committed to a binary sex model, they find other ways to determine those things.”

Later that year, Chaudhry participated in <a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/arts-sciences/core/critical-conversations/2021-22/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Brandeis Core</a> — a panel discussion for “community” and “critical conversations.” The discussion titled “<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/arts-sciences/core/critical-conversations/2021-22/videos.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The ‘Ins’ and ‘Outs’ of LGBTQ+ Community</a>” focused on “the limits and possibilities for [the] queer and transgender community on a global scale, particularly how gender, race, class and nation complicate what community can and does mean.” 

In a discussion on the use of trans community identifying language, Chaudhry said:

<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/english/faculty/callender.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brandon Callender</a> is an Assistant Professor of English at Brandeis University. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Brandon prefers the pronouns he/him/his. His research interests include 19th and 20th Century American Literature, African American Literature, and Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Callender’s list of courses taught includes ENG 15B — Black Joy. The description says the course “explores the exuberant and sometimes strained relationship between black people and joy.” His course EN 175B — Getting Behind in Black Gay Men’s Literatures is a study of “black queer men’s sexualities…[including] varying attitudes black queer writers have toward cruising and intimacy [and] falling behind at work or in life, because of certain sexual pursuits.”

In 2022, Callender <a href="https://read.dukeupress.edu/qui-parle/article/31/1/67/314953/The-Devil-Finds-UseBlack-Queers-Do-The-Exorcist?guestAccessKey=cad74655-0591-48e0-b1a5-8566a7481c26" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published an article</a> titled “The Devil Finds Use: Black Queers Do The Exorcist.” The piece explores a critique of The Exorcist (1973 film) in James Baldwin's essay “The Devil Finds Work.” In the abstract, Callender says,

“Much of black horror studies today is premised on the assumption that true horror, for the black audience, is found not in the paranormal but in the normal and the systemic. It is now conventional, for instance, for scholars to preface their research with a personal anecdote that swaps out a supernatural on-screen threat for a more pressing — and more horrifying — social one.”

He continued,

“By swapping out superficial horrors for social ones, black subjects today enter into the horror genre as its rivals, if not its foils. Instead of reeling from horror’s intended ‘dreadful pleasures,’ they experience a horror that arises more traumatically, more personally, and more incidentally as a result of their racial consciousness.”

The Brandeis Department of English <a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/english/faculty/podcast/callender-podcast.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published a two-part podcast</a> with Callender as a special guest. The host asked Callender, “[W]hat were you like as a high schooler?” Callender said,

“My high school experience was largely spent, I think, trying to figure out who I was…There was a lot of racism that was pretty worn on the surface of our school…I have a deep difficulty rethinking what those years meant to me, because the same teacher who deeply inspired and moved me did not teach me anything about my experience as a black person, or as a queer person. That was not part of his agenda, his curriculum.”

Hannig’s faculty profile says she specializes in “socio-cultural and medical anthropology; anthropology of death and dying; anthropology of religion, gender and the body; and medical assistance in dying.” In 2015, she “launched a long-term, ethnographic research project on medical aid-in-dying in the United States. This project asked how assisted dying is transforming the ways Americans die.”

On July 6, 2022, Hannig wrote an op-ed titled “‘<a href="https://www.brandeis.edu/now/2022/july/assisted-dying-hannig.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Assisted suicide’ deserves a different name. Here’s why</a>” in which she offers expert insight into an emerging industry that allows physicians to kill patients legally. In the article, Hannig cited a statistic that says “more than 20% of Americans already live in a state with access to medically assisted death.”

Hannig continued,

“Despite this rapidly changing legal climate, the language for describing this new way to die remains surprisingly antiquated. The term that continues to dominate media coverage on the issue is ‘assisted suicide.’ The American Medical Associate uses the term ‘physician-assisted suicide.’”

“As a cultural anthropologist, I know that how we name something determines how we think about it. Until just recently, the primary term in the English language for the purposeful, voluntary death of oneself was ‘suicide.’ Besides martyrdom or sacrifice, there was no other way to refer to an intentional self-death.”

“Assisted suicide” is not a new way to die, as Hannig claimed. In 2011, a notorious suicide physician named Dr. Jack Kevorkian passed away. During his 50 years of medical practice, Kevorkian — known as “Dr. Death” — killed more than 100 terminally-ill patients and was eventually convicted of second-degree murder. Britannica says, he lobbied for medical experiments on death-row inmates and advocated for establishing suicide clinics.

When asked how she became involved in assisted suicides, she said, “I actually fell into this subject by accident. I was showing How to Die in Oregon (the best documentary on assisted dying, I think) in one of my anthropology classes at Brandeis, and I became immediately hooked.” 

Hannig’s book also provides assisted suicide websites that help facilitate conversations and offers tools to assist patients and families plan for premature death.

Hodge is one of three professors who reportedly <a href="https://kappanonline.org/community-concerns-crthodge-lope-rosenberg/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">authored a document to provide talking points</a> to teachers when parents ask about critical race theory (CRT) curriculum. The document — “How to respond to community concerns about critical race theory — was published by Kappan Online: 
“We think education leaders should respond boldly and strategically. We believe there are positive elements of CRT that can help students ‘unpack and rethink the social construct of race that divides so much of U.S. society.’ Therefore school and district leaders must support teachers in including discussions about race n education in ways that aligned with CRT principles.”
Hodge et al., continued,
“Proactive messaging can prevent leaders from falling into the trap of reactively defending their practices and letting those with the most extreme views set the direction of the conversation…Mentioning CRT directly draws the reader’s attention to a concept that has a negative connotation and an unclear meaning…A message of unity, on the other hand, speaks to many individuals…”
The document goes on to list and describe methods for countering questions about the contents of CRT in the classroom.
