Stefan Bradley, associate professor and chair of African-American studies at Loyola Marymount University, praised “violent or destructive demonstrations" because they "draw the attention of the wider public and motivates decision makers to act." In response to an address made by Jeff Sessions at Georgetown University, Bradley wrote an op-ed titled "Civil Debate is Fine. Protest is Better." where he argues protesting and "shutting down speeches" are the only way to promote change.
